    [MOC] A Thirst For Vengeance

That part with the poor soul covered in discarded bones are clearly inspired by the Nordic tale of Hjalte in Rolf Krakes castle - very nice interpretation!!

    [MOC] National Library of Ireland

As someone who works at a National Library, I can really appreciate the attention to detail you have put into this masterpiece. It is simply mindblowing! I once build a scale model of my workplace, the Black Diamond in Copenhagen, but in microscale - I can hardly fathom how many hours the two of you have spend in building in this amazing minifig-scale

[MOC] The Ruins of Green Mire Keep

Wonderful build! It reminds me of the Witcher3 game - several places, like the wizards spooky island with the ruined castle - and the necromancer...!!!

    Abbreviated review: 60293 Stunt Park

The new Stuntz theme has not really caught my eye, but I budged today, and bought set 60293 on deep discount. https://brickset.com/sets/60293-1/Stunt-Park Two instructions (unnumbered), two numbered bags, and an unnumbered bag with all the big pieces. I am not really familiar with the whole Stuntz setting, but this looks straight out of the game Fallout, with depilated buildings, and mutated giant spiders. The girl rides the bike, and holds a baseball bat. Why? Is she goint to smack a pinãta? Or is she fighting the spider? Or is she going to take down the competition, Cloned Elvis?? And I am not sure, that many parents will want to have their kids go around in ruins and fight dangerous animals... Thats the problem with this set in my eyes: it dont really know what it want to be, so it tries to be several things at once. If the setting had been a normal skatepark, without the giant spider, it could have been a nice set. Now, to the good things: the bricks. No stickers, so both the "Caution"-sign, and the spider-sign, are printed. And so are the two wooden boards! So LEGO still produces printed boards - why is so many other sets using stickers for that??? There are two half road plates, two slopes, and of course the new pull-back bike. Two minifigures, a suburban wannabe Harley Quinn, and a cloned Elvis. Nice outfits on both - as far as I know both torsos might be unique? The girl has a pink top with purple spiderweb-design, and SPORT printed on the back. Cloned Elvis has a dark green jacket with a red eagle design on the back. The different parts of the set are all separate, so the bike can knock down the doorway, the walls, the flames, the barrels, the cones. So, in my very biased opinion: Playability: 9/10 (lots of things to knock over, if thats what you like to do) Parts: 7/10 (many big parts, but some nice printed bricks) Minifigs: 9/10 Price: not sure, as I got my set on discount Overall: 5/10 - as the set itself dont really make any sence. .
  5. Great review, as all others done by White Fang! This is one of the few series, where I just get one copy of each fig - simply beacuse I have absolutely no knowledge of any of the figs, nor the series you qoute. There is really nothing in any of the figs that I like - the only feeling I got when i looked at the series was "Oh no, not another Spidey figure - as if I didnt already have scores of Spideys".
  6. Django, yes, but not The Hateful Eight - even if Tarantino claims it is his best film, it is the least liked (and seen) film of his. Personally, as much as I love Tarantino films, I felt that Hateful has so many plot-holes, that it didnt make any sence at all, and I really didnt like it. Even Academy Award winning films like the Unforgiven from 1992 didnt spark a renewed interest in the Western theme, at least not among kids.
  7. LEGO headquarters here in Denmark just made a press release about the financial outcome of the first half year of 2021. Two interesting tidbits: The sales rose astonishing 46% compared to same period in 2020. Best selling themes was: LEGO® City, LEGO® Star Wars™, LEGO® Harry Potter™, LEGO® Creator Expert and LEGO® Technic. So my thoughts: LEGO is still going strong getting stronger, and it is the old established themes that drives the sales.
  8. I agree completely - different toys for different occasions. Though I must say, that most kids I know have both LEGO and Playmobil, and they happily mix them together when playing. It was more a statement to the previous messages about prices and plastic. I dont have the actual weight here where I am now, but I can say, that the Playmobil set is much heavier than the Lego set, with more plastic. Playmobil is manufactured in Europe (Germany of course, but primarily fabrics in Malta), and the plastic is of excellent quality. I have Playmobil from 40 years ago, and its neither warped nor miscoloured. And in the 400+ Playmobil sets I have bought, I have never encountered damaged or missing pieces. So the product quality, and the quality control, are not subpar to LEGO. As also stated perviously in this thread, it is most likely the amount of pieces, and thus the amount of forms, that make up for a big part of the price difference.
  9. Even if LEGO is Danish, Playmobil covers almost as much shelf-space as LEGO in Danish supermarkets. And Playmobil is cheaper. Last week I bought in the same supermarket two sets on offer: LEGO 60302 Wildlife Rescue Operation (https://brickset.com/sets/60302-1), and Playmobil 9373 Arc of Noah (and yes, Playmobil dont mind making religious sets) https://www.playmobil.de/arche-noah/9373.html. The LEGO set was appx. 95 USD, and the Playbobil set was appx. 45 USD. Both sets are about rescuing wildlife, but where LEGO has 5 animals (and some croc eggs), Playmobil has 20 animals. If only LEGO had dropped the strange belt-vehicle, they could have added at least one more animal - a missed opportunity in my eyes. I am very fond of both LEGO and Playmobil, and both products have their ups and downs. By the way, for those who dont know Playmobil: the Playmobil figures have interchangeable legs, torsos, heads, and accessories, so there is a wide range of customization.

And yet another excellent set! My personal favorites are Dentist, Volleyball Player, Monkey, and Don Quixote - now I need a Spanish windmill, and Sancho Panza with his donkey...!

    VIDIYO - Universal Music 2021

Well, my local supermarket has all the new VIDIYO sets on sale at 50% - thats very soon after release. I bought the car and the pirate ship, but after building them, I must say, that I am not impressed.

    REVIEW: 43114 Punk Pirate Ship

I bought this set yesterday in my local supermarket, where all the new Vidiyo sets are at half price. So I will not speak about the price, but the buiilding experience. Unlike Pchan1983 I am not impressed by the set. But admittingly, as the app dont work on my Android phone, I cant use the set as it is intended. The build is intricate, with many nice details, but the overall look of the ship/stage is mostly just confusing. What I dislike most in these sets, are the giant loudspeakers, that destroy any elegance the set could have had. And the back of the stage is strange - why the surfboard? And why a treasure chest - instead of a microwave for the pizza? Its like the set cant agree if it want to be mostly a pirate ship, or mostly a music stage. The Squid minifig is very nice, but I dont really like the Shark and (male?) Mermaid minifigs. One thing that is better than the car (43112) is the sharkhead/cranium, which looks more integrated than the would-be Brickhead did on the car. I know, that I am not the intended target customer for this line, so what I think of the set dont mean anything, but I am nevertheless disappointed - I do think, the sets in this line could have been designed better.

Impressive work as always! My personal super-favorite is the factory worker! She fits right in any 40ties or 50ties theme - she would pass the Diner on her way home from the Corner garage. I so much hope that LEGO gets inspired by your excellent work!

    VIDIYO - Universal Music 2021

Bought set 43112 Robo HipHop Car today, and has just assembled it. It is - I dont really have any words for it - weird. There has been party busses in both Lego Movie and Friends series, so LEGO is supposed to be experienced in doing this kind of models. But this set? Its one third car, one third Brickheadz, one third music scene. Looking at it, it is just confusing, nothing else. I must admit, that I dont have the app (didnt run properly on Android), so I dont know what it is supposed to do. But the good thing is, that there are lots of bricks, and two half-decent minifigs. I am pretty sure, that this will be my only buy from series 2 - unless there eventually will be a big discount in my local supermarket.

[Opinion] Review of the new road plates system (2021)

Well, I am used to see a lot of curved city streets here in Denmark - cities in Europe tend to be less rectangular than cities in America. So I really lack the curves in this new concept. I am probably one of the only ones, who loved set 6600 6600-2: Highway Construction | Brickset: LEGO set guide and database - as there were both straight, curved, and elevated roads here, making for a lot of creative possibilities. And yes, if should ever want to switch to the new baseplates (I only bought 60304 out of curiosity), I would also want sets with roadplates and tiles only, no accessories.

    Rohirric House

Wonderful house, and yes, it really captures the whole feel of a Rohirrim house. I especially ljkes the trunk at the top of the roof - simple, but very catching. Personally, I am not so fond of Rohirrim, as they were invaders, who forced the original inhabitants up into the mountains (Mountainmen, as Tolkien calls them). When i read the books the first time 40 years ago, I hoped for the Mountainmen to win - unfortunately, Tolkien made it otherwise.

REVIEW: 71030 LEGO Minifigures - Looney Tunes Series 1

A little late to the party, but as always, thanks a million for the review! As for the series - nope, it aint doing nothing for me. I did watch Looney Tunes a lot, but I have never heard about Marvin, and as I didnt watch Space Jam, Lola is also unfamiliar to me. Danish Supermarkets dont sell boxes, only strips with single bags, but I was lucky, in that the 16 bags I bought, I got all 12 figures. Normally I buy all CMF figures in multiples, but not this one. As others have said, there is nothing that could be useable in other settings.

    REVIEW: 71747 The Keeper's Village

Just build this set, and I agree with Pchan 1983, that there should have been more villagers - especially villagers with shields, as the one shield included here, is just for decoration. The arms of the throne, and the arms of the bottom totem, intertangles - you cant have the totem angled against the throne, unless you put the bottom throne-arm very much forward, or very much backward.. And this is just my subjective opinion, but I would have liked a tall tree at the other side of the throne, to balance the look of the totem, and enhance the feeling of a tropical jungle island. If you want to open the "door" behind the dragon, you have to put the hinges (arms) higher than the instruction says - else you can only open it if the drageonhead part is angled away from the pit-part. So, a few design setbacks, but I still think that it is a very good set. - albeit a bit underwhelming in size.

    VIDIYO - Universal Music 2021

Has anybody had any experiece with the app on Android? I installed the app, it went well, I started the app, and I chose the cowboy as a test. But when I activated the "horse" tile, the screen just became white. And I could do nothing! So I had to restart my phone, and of course I immediately uninstalled the app again - I dont want apps that breaks my phone.

    Storage and Sorting LEGO

Oh yes, my LEGO collection is fighting for space against my MtG cards, my stamps, my coins, my books, my Playmobil - and dare I say: my MegaBloks and other clones...

    Lego DOTS 2021

OK, I confess, that as a 62-year old male, I am NOT the target customer for DOTS. Nevertheless, I have really enjoyed the DOTS sets that I did buy last year. However, I just bought the cupcake set 41926, and that was a big disappointment. First of all: DOTS are characterized by the many small printed tiles. In 41926, there is not a single printed brick of any kind! Second: there is a sticker sheet (not something I have experienced in other DOTS sets). Its for the round 2x2 tiles, so the stickers are of course round. BUT they have to be cut out with scissors! When is the last time any 7-year old cut a perfect circle? Or a 62-year old for that matter? I have never seen LEGO sticker sheets before, that would have to be cut with scissors. Third: there are 9 bags, of which one is with candles and keys. The other 8 are all exactly the same! No variation whatsoever. So you get 8 colours of curved tiles, 2 colours of round tiles, and 3 colours of small tops. 72 pieces of each of 5 colour curved tiles. In that respect, the 622 pieces you get here are not that interesting. There is much more variation (and value for money) in buying the series 3 bags. And now I just hope, that LEGO dont get to face some litigation in court, because some small kid put them in the oven - because they look very much as the cupcake forms you can use to bake with! Fortunetaly I also bought a series 3 bag today, and that was fantastic. Those dual molded diamond and star tiles are simply amazing, and you get 9 of each in a single bag.

    Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

Thank you for the link! However, this MOC suffers from some of the same ailments as the LEGO ones, namely that the specific shark-grin is not present. LEGO has managed to get the outline of the grin in the last 3 sets, but they lack the grille. Hachiroku's MOC has the grille, but not the grin. My biggest complain over LEGO is, that they had 4 chances, but still not managed to nail it. There has been so many other new molds for HP during the years, so is a slanting window and a grille-sticker to much to ask for?

    Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

I just build 75968 4 Privet Drive, and i must say, that I am disappointed over the Anglia. Being a child in the 60ties, I was often a passenger in an Anglia, and there was two things, that really put this car aside from others: the shark-like grinning grill, and the inward-sloping back window. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Anglia#/media/File:Ford_Anglia_Sportsman_-_Charleroi_2019_-_07.jpg I dug up the 3 other LEGO Anglias I have (sets 4728, 4841, 75953), and none of them get the grille and the back window right. 4728 has the grille, but not in the grinning form, there are no taillight fins, and no stripe on the doors. 4841 has the "grin" but without grilles, there is NO back window, and the doors has no stripes. 75953 has the "grin" but without grilles, the back window is not slanting - but the tailfins and striped doors are OK. 75968 has the "grin" but without grilles (not even a sticker), the tailfins and striped doors are OK - but the back window is the worst design I have seen - you could even say that it is slanting the wrong way. I just wonder, how LEGO has now missed 4 designs of a classic car without getting the two defining features right. It cant be that difficult to make a sticker with grilles, or an inward slanting back window, can it? The rest of the set was fine - the house feels very sturdy due to the massive roof.
