How do you display your modular building collection?
Willworkfortoys replied to yanathin's topic in LEGO Town
I use Detolf. A lot of people have a problem with their modulars not touching but each shelf can fit 1.5 modulars with the half being Pet Shop or a MOC 16 wide and still look like they're essentially touching with shelves side by side. You can also take out the side glass panels and have them actually touching as the structure of the detolfs is held up by the metal frame that holds the shelving, not the glass. I suspect you'd have a gap and dust may be a bit more of an issue but thats the trade off. They can also be lit very well with ikea lighting. This is what used to be in them. Just showing it for how they looked wired with lighting. -
The Gift Ship Hello all, nice to meet you! Here is my entry for the Winter Village contest. The Gift Ship! Sometimes Santa and the elves like to get out of the shop and take boat ride around the Winter Village. They go sailing around fishing for gifts and sharing them with children around the coasts. The Gift Ship comes complete with wrapping stations with ribbon and tape, rolls of wrapping paper, AND, get this, GIFTS! I wanted to make something convertible since I feel like the past WV could give the option for closing up the backs without sacrificing a lot and increase play value and display options. I also felt that while always awesome the locomotives have been stealing the spotlight away from other perfectly good forms of transportation! I had much more planned but unfortunately I only had last night to work on this and things escalated pretty quickly in the building department. Hope you enjoy the photos and can find some techniques and brick combinations you like! Let's set sail! Thank you for looking and have a Happy New Year!!! Looks great and hits all the checkmarks from the previously released WV sets. Glad you finally got around to building it so that we can see it in all its glory!

Winter Village: Victorian Era Tools and Candy Stores
Willworkfortoys replied to MacGyver's topic in LEGO Town
Very cool! I could see this in a modular setup too! -
Great idea and intricate details!

Great use of colors on the upper and lower floors. I feel like they try to subdue the colors on the WV stuff a little too much. This makes me want to go skiing sooooo bad.

Terrific! Love the fountain and tree setup.

You can never have too many cookies when listening to some good music. Great work! Also, the guy 'mean muggin' on the bench scares me just a little.

Great train! I too wish for a new holiday train. I especially like the simplicity of the tree car.

It is such a simple type of building that you've captured so well. Everyone tries to invent the wheel but excelling on a basic building staple always proves better. You're pictures show really well too that you've taken the time to make them very clear. I would love to have this in my Winter Village. Well done!

This is the stuff dreams are made of. If I had time to build! If I do find time I'm totally stealing the roof idea on the maroon building. It's a great detai!

Winter Village: Horse Stable and Cottage
Willworkfortoys replied to TheLazyChicken's topic in LEGO Town
This is great. I love horses and the stable looks good. I also like the play features which I feel are absent from some WV sets. If I had one suggestion it would be to make the trans pieces above the door 1x2 trans plates in green and red and clear maybe. I think the light coming through would look better but it still looks great as is. -
Terrific! I especially like the trees and the poor sap getting hit with the snow ball. Been there.
