Moc builders vs Collectors, Lego civil war!
legoguy1984 replied to PaddyBricksplitter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Some sets I buy for the set as is for display, mostly I buy sets for the bricks so that I can build other things. I also struggle to keep the box closed till I get home and that is almost an hour by bus. I only have The Heroic Knight still in packaging but that is because I already have an open one for play/display. -
Great build and awesome job you have there. You want to open a store in South Africa? Pretty please ☺

[MOC] Hey, no cutting in line!
legoguy1984 replied to PaddyBricksplitter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Love the idea and the execution. I love how you can tell how they all died. -
You could take a look in a bead or craft shop and see what supplies they have.

Some sets I have bought because they are great as the designer designed them and those stay on a shelf for display, other sets I buy for the parts so they normally get built once then parted out. Some parts have cracked but from first usage and not due to time as far as I can tell. Personal preference all the way.

Your expierence with fake lego clones products
legoguy1984 replied to YellowCorvette's topic in Community
I think we are talking about chinese stuff not so much the Megablocks or Tyco which aren't as bad. Moe the Enlighten type stuff. I know there is sone Hero factory type stuff where the logo even looks like the Lego logo. Looks cheap and nasty though. -

I bought a couple when I came out of my dark age, the bricks are good for maybe two or three uses then they lose clutch. The rubber bits were melted on some and have had missing pieces on others. Colours and printing were generally bad and dull. I only kept a small pirate set that I want to glue together for a display piece, the rest my son, who is two, gets to play with as I don't mind pieces going missing. -
Really nice work.

I wouldn't mind a fantasy themed castle line. I missed out on the last one while I was in my dark age. I would like it if they brought back the impulse sets. A pegasus would be sweet and the Elves line has one I think but I really badly want a Centaur.I don't want a skeleton faction, trolls, orcs, goblins, dwarves, elves and humans would be my factions of choice and I definately want grey castles with either red or blue being the other colour as those are what I have in my small castle collection. Civilian sets are a no brainer and we definately need more.

I would fit into the Geek category and am proud of it.

Parts Lego didn't need to make
legoguy1984 replied to Takanuinuva's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have seen those plates but really really don't want to mix my Lego with non Lego bricks. I also have to agree with those prefab car chassis pieces. -

A plate with studs both sides seems to be the one thing on everyone's wish list yet has never been made by Lego. With all these other not so useful parts you'd think some designer would have thought of that one long ago. Just an observation. -

Those bricks that are 2X1Xn high when two or more 2X1X1 bricks would have sufficed. -
What other sites?

Restoring white lego bricks by using Hydrogen Peroxide
legoguy1984 replied to jaesroe's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hi, there is already a thread devoted to this. I don't know how to link it here. I have done it and so far so good. I think someone mentioned on the thread that their parts were still white long afterwards. I think a piece will, over time, return to a yellowed state.- 3 replies

I think it would depend on the intent of the seller. When most people sell a set that they have built or played with the spare parts probably landed up in the greater collection. When they want to sell the set later it would be very difficult to know exactly what pieces were extra with the set unless you are able to find a review which shows them. My Delorean I bought purely for display and I have kept all spare parts for it completely seperate from the rest of my collection. If I sold it, it would include all spare parts because they are already seperate, any other set would not have the extra parts and I would not think that I had done someone a disservice likewise when buying a second hand set I would not expect it to have the extra parts.

That is an incredible build, so much happening and wonderfully put together. The balloons are one of my favourites and the lake with the island is great. The fact that it was a joint project between your wife and you must make this extra special for you, it's wonderful that you two can share your hobby/passion like this.

Yhanks for fixing it. It is amazing work I hope you display it proudly.

How are so many people seeing this. It says the image is unavailable and I really want to see what this looks like. The drawing is great but want to see it in the Lego.
