  1. Does it means we could expect ready-to-use lightmaps for all existing raised baseplates? The topic is becoming more and more interesting. Do you think to take methods 0-2 as example to refine your method or do you think to provide a multiple solution, wth the better one as default?
  2. It seems that the washed colour fix had a side effect, the minifigure got older!
  3. Absolutely, I wasn't going to!
  4. The results of these generators are really amazing, very useful for digital models. I've a question: would it be possible to use the software to generate landscapes with the shape inspired by historic LEGO baseplates such as the the moon baseplate or some castle baseplates, maybe in a different scale?
  5. It seems that Hiden Side sets are not so popular in LDD and LDRAW official sets topics, maybe due to the recent parts they use. Maybe you could have more chances in mecabricks gallery. EDIT: toh, found for you: click. If you are looking for an LDD file, you can make a request here. Note that main topics of this section are listed in the Section Index, one of the two pinned topics.
  6. Surely a useful initiative, thanks. If I can move some criticism, it is a little verbose (more than a tutorial, it appears like "hey friend, look at me I'll teach you how to use it", not a bad thing anyway) and it lacks of verified subtitles, for those who haven't a perfect understanding of spoken English.
  7. It is a known issue: unfortunately some users decided to remove their creation or simply abandoned the forum and their files. If you need some specific set please ask in the proper topic, we have a backup and many of the missing entries are still available. Later I'll move these two posts in the topic I've linked above.
  8. Hi @pennyforge, very interesting tool. If you edit the first post to create a comprehensive presentation page, including the detailed instruction you wrote in the following posts, I will add it to the Section Index.
  9. Index updated with informations reported until here.
  10. Index updated. 46 Sets has been added to the index (8 alternative, 0 duplicate, 0 incomplete). Check your sets and report errors or inaccuracies in the index, if any! 2 Sets has not been added to the index because Irregular. Fix your sets in order to be added to the index! Check the irregular sets listed below to see if any of your previous entries need to be fixed. 5 new (Sub)Themes added Topic's Rules Update. 11. Hi @HereWeGoAgain I've moved your request here, in the right place. Did you check the Building Instructions from the LEGO site? (CLICK) A bit dark, I see, (in black parts is very difficult to see any detail) but not so unreadable. It seems that the set is not available in out archives (Both LDD and LDRAW topics), so you could ask here if any volunteer could create the lxf file for you. EDIT: it seems that the set is available on mecabricks: click.
  12. @Toastie Eheh that's a very good point! If you don't need to exactly identify your bricks, probably this tool is not very useful! @MAB Thanks, this is quite useful and I didn't know it. I usually did separate searches in that case. The cases I referred before anyway are often related to printed parts and identify a print is often difficult and requires time. Besides the existence of very similar parts with completely different IDs don't help.
  13. Hi and congratulations for your creation. At start I hoped it was a simple app: with a limited cost (maybe a free app ) I could have access to this useful identification system, but this solution is too expensive for the very limited use I can do of it. Anyway I can understand the reasons behind your choice, even if a less precise app version (maybe requiring a bit of manual tuning) would be desirable for me. I read here some users that doubts about the usefulness of this solution. Sometimes I needed to identify some parts from a mixed lot (usually in order to detect from some specific bricks the sets from which the parts came from and try to rebuild them) and this operation was very time consuming. Other times I need to place the right face on a minifigure (or simply understand to which minifigure that spared face belongs), and manually identify a face is often a pain. So, for my experience, it would be very useful. For those that says that manual identification is as fast as the one provided by Piqabrick I can only think that these people have above-average sorting skill or never try to do this and make a wrong assessment of the real difficulties and time needed.
  14. Just to understand... LDD has a selection tool that allows to select all the bricks of a certain type (and with a specific colour too, if you want). When I have to mass replace a brick, I use the aforementioned tool, extract all the wrong bricks from the building, place the new bricks over the wrong ones, delete the wrong bricks and at last place all the new bricks inside the model with a single drag (this include some expedients such as place a reference brick for the position, create a group with wrong bricks, etc...) . Now, if stud.io has a similar tool, the operation should be possible with this software too. So the question is: is there a similar tool in stud.io?
  15. @Chesleyn Did you simply opened the zip archive or did you extract it somewhere in your computer? The correct way is to extract it and only then launch the batch file. EDIT: oops, anticipated.
  16. Hi! The viewer looks very interesting. As it is not a native LDRAW viewer but converts the files in another format, is there any issue converting? I mean, when you convert complex models, are there unconverted bricks, misplaced bricks or something of this kind? Could you explain, maybe editing the first post, what are the advantage of the MakerBrane format and why did you choose it? Has the software a name? You could prepare a well-formatted page in the first post of this topic, so I can add the software to the Section Index.
  17. @Kevin Flemming As general rule, look for the sets that uses the part you need and check the "Official Sets made in LDD" topic. If some other builder has made a set containing the part, probably he/she have created a custom replacement too.
  18. It is not a bad hypothesis. Inside the file I was not able to find common references I usually find in lxf files. Besides I found large areas of "zero" inside the file. I tried to replace as much as parts seems legit to do but without good results. Unfortunately this time the file seems to be too much corrupted.
  19. You're welcome. If the corruption is not due to some kind of error produced by LDD when saving the model, well... maybe it is time to check your disk!
  20. The file is corrupted. It happens, sometimes, when using LDD (and that's why my suggestion is to make a backup copy periodically). I tried to resume it using an hex editor but it seems the damage is too heavy, so I was not able to obtain any good result. Maybe somebody else will have more luck!
  21. Mine too... saloon has over 1600 backers, so I think I'll have to wait a bit before they reach my "booking" of the set. Set with less backers are more likely shipped before, especially the set has been backed in the last days available.
  22. Oh, it could be due to the music inside the video. Wait for a moment... I'll look for the "silent" version. Ok, here it is. Not exactly the same video but a similar one, A bit sad without music Try here.
  23. That's a great news, I ever loved the animated assembly. Just a little note: looking at the video I linked above, it seems that while the great part of the bricks fall from the top, some bricks placed vertically (such as windows' glasses) came from the side. Other desirable options would be to choose directions for each brick (changing the default one) and change the camera position during the animation (including automatic translation "from here to there") and zooming. Ok, I'm running with my imagination, but if this option will be added, it would be really great!
  24. Thanks for the answers! As dream is free... do you think to add a feature like this one in the future? The one that "explode" the model seems quite easy to realize, but the one that assemble the model "calling" the bricks from the outside seems much more challenging. Anyway animated renderings like these are very attractive, it could be a great feature for mecabricks.
  25. Great result. Is the light from batman eyes obtained placing a light source inside the helmet or using some kind of light-emitting material? I've taken a look at the linked video from nVidia guys, the assembly of the models remembered me the videos from Coby Basset (like this one). Is mecabricks capable to do something similar automatically or with few manual assistance? PS: what do you think to add "using mecabrics" to the title of the topic, to make it more clear?
