Recommended Posts

I've just found that Brickset have listed that there will be a City advent calendar in 2011 (sorry if this has already been mentioned) link. Its set number is 7553. :classic:

Thank you all very much for the new information and for the links to the pictures, prateek! :classic:

9348 Community Worker Set :sceptic:

That's not a bad set for someone who starts getting introduced into Lego City and who wants some additional minifigs in addition to the only very little number of minifigs in official sets.

There are even two great new elements: yellow hard helmet (supposably used in the 2012 construction side sets?) and laptop. And some "mini sets" are quite nice: the scarecrow, the crops, the quarterpipe with skater boy and the woman with bicycle and food.

But all in all I've no need for this set since there are two many elements and minifigs included which I don't need. So I better buy the minfigs and elements I want seperately.

4641 Speed Boat

That's a small but quite nice looking set.

4642 Fishing Boat

This set looks nice.

But I'm really disappointed that it's no real fishing boat with fishing net etc. (the name "fishing boat" imo implies that). :cry_sad:

I'll finally judge after having seen pictures of its interior - since in this set, the interior will be the criterion whether I'll buy this set. But since the interior of the police boat is poor (since there is none), I highly doubt that we'll get a decent interior in this boat.

4643 Power Boat Transporter

The picture is too blurry to be aible to finally judge. But it seems to look good. I hope that the boat won't be more than 6 studs wide.

4645 Harbor

I'm really surprised that we don't get again a container ship but some sort of grain ship - that's a welcome diversion!

Everything necessary is included in this set.

The only three things which disturb me are that firstly the set is much too colorful, that secondly there is no blanking coverabove the retral hole in the ship and that thirdly the "building" is much too small.

Btw: Do you think that the very small "building" beneath the crane is an office (it seems to be only 6 studs wide)?

4644 Marina

Imo this set is definately the best set of the whole new harbor wave! It's completely amazing!

Everything is included a decent marina needs - and even more: a peer, a big boat, a surfboard, a coast guard watchtower, a small cafe and even a surfer's & diver's shop!

I really like it that TLG gives us a complete house with a surfer's & diver's shop (with decent cashpoint and a lot of accessory) and a small cafe (with decent interior and roof terrace) - that's completely awesome! :oh:

The only three things I miss is a second, smaller boat, a longer peer to be aible to have more boats "parking" there and some more minifigs.

Btw: Do you think that there's even some interior to the third floor of the building (maybe a bed and a nightstand?

As of today there are 21 known City sets for 2011. Leaving room for 4 (?) polybags in 2011, there doesn't seem to be room for a new sub-theme unless the pattern changes.

I would love to have a 'paradisa' type set of course, as would many other AFFOLs I believe, but it seems to be unlikely this year. Perhaps next year?

I completely agree with you that there won't be another wave this year, metalgearsolid.

But nevetheless there surely will be one or two Exclusives (like the last year(s)). I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a supermarket. Plus Cwetqo some months ago mentioned that there'll be a ferry (hopefully as ferry not the ugly 10155 is counted).

An Advent market ^^

Well, an advent market would be cool, Nebi.

But I don't think that it'll happen. And I even don't want it happening. Reason: There is a very limited pieces count for every day in an advent calendar. This way only much too small and too undetailed market stands could be built (remember the advent calendar of 2009).

Since there are always minifigs and accessory from the current themes in the year when the advent calendar is released, I could well imagine it including:

-new police officer with walkie-talkie

-police barrier

-new (police) dog with dish and bone

-new prisoner with crowbar

-safe with two bills

-astronaut

-"flying space seat" (sorry, I don't know the correct name)

-harbor worker

-Octan barrel and pushcart

-small pier

-female surfer with life vest

-surfboard

-buoy

-sled

-Christmas tree

-Santa Claus

... Perhaps one or two kids, one woman, a bicycle and some other civilian stuff? ...

What do you think?

Hello everyone! =) I have been reading what you guys have been saying since page 1 for about the last month or so, and have finally plucked enough courage to create an account! :D. Well, you guys have influenced me buying my last batch of Lego's, and I have got the 7286 Prisoner Transport, and 7285 K-9 Unit. I found them tucked away behind camper van sets in the LEGO store near me. I'd just like to say thanks and now actually be able to take part in future discussion :D

EDIT: Please don't post deeplinks of Lego pictures marked as "Confidential" or "Private"

We don't need TLC setting the lawyer's on us now do we

Not possible. No one can be sued for posting pics.

Did anyone save them? They seem to be down.

Just compare the new Harbor set to the old 6543 one. It doesn't even hold a candle. This is not like the Fire or Police sets that we have a new version every 3 years to compare to, so when I look at 4644 I immediately think of how superior 6543 still is.

If it bugs you guys so much, don't buy it. It's not the 80s, sets are built more for playability now, not blocky construction. I think the Marina is fantastic, although a small boat like the speedboat would have been welcome in place of the ATV.

The fishing boat is nice, but like Klaus said, it's not really a 'fishing' boat, it's more of a leisure boat. I'm hoping for a larger one, with one of those crab cage cranes.

I haven't heard much about the new boat transporter yet (just little bits).....what I'm interested in is the cool looking cab-over prime mover - everyone wants brick-building well there you go there will be a bit there. Now I think the boat is a speed one with a flame sticker down both sides of it's haul.

I just wonder if there is any surprises left eh ?

hmm in that 4645 harbor, do you note the cripper from the crane? It just looks to be exactly the same like the very old one (I had one when I was a child - I think it was around 1982) (set 6678 it was ;) looked it up) .

You mean something like this in this set......

6383-1.jpg

(it's time we also had an updated one of these too !)

If Lego still have the mold why not bring back classic parts into the city world eh ?

On the marina front now, has 6x8 slope 10 pieces ever come out in that green before ?

Or is it another new part eh ?

The new harbor has to be atleast 10 or 15 dollars cheaper than the older one. The new one has a smaller boat, crane, and office type thing. The harbor all together is smaller.

That goes without saying :yoda: I don't have a beef with 21st century CITY/Town (In fact I favor it, and I just picked up my 3661 Bank, may get another) so it's not a generational thing. This marina's just lacking

OTOH that Boat transporter truck not pictured here (but it's in general forums) looks very prime from the blurry pics...

What should have been the starting point of the marina is the boats. Like a new boat, longer than the fishing boat but shorter than the cargo ship. Luxury cruiser size. White hull and tan deck. Something a bit snazzy. Something good for the south of France or the Bahamas. Something with blacked out cabin windows and lots of bling.

Any novice can build a marina around boats. They're only a few jetties a promenade and a club house. What is difficult is making small boat hulls stretch or large ones shrink. Lego don't have anything in the mid-size range. Nothing very sleek. nothing upmarket. Where's a rich city businessman to entertain his Italian and Russian 'business associates'? Where is a Movie star to relax? all the Lego boats and ships are a bit - working class.

I'm only half serious here. A luxury cruiser yacht would be nice though. I like the fishing boat and speed boats, the cargo ship is ok and I don't mind the rubber dinghy in blue. I think the dock and marina are a let down as far as the 'buildings' go. I'd sooner just have the boats without the 'buildings'.

Is it just me or is Lego aiming at having all of us buy each set to form a larger one, as the marina is small, as to the harbour and all these boats. Taking on board that the latest rail station was a small station house not a big station, I feel a drift back to a town image leaving the normal large city buildings in the modular area with the likes of cafe corner, green grocer, etc.,.

Just my opinion anyway......I'm a conformist! everyone ! :sweet:
