LEGO Star Wars 2011 Pictures & Rumors

'KielDaMan' is right.....why would Lego just call it a V-wing pilot.....not a female characters name as it would be special, so since it's just a pilot - we can assume it's male and nothing overly special.

Man, do we need more pictures to solve these questions ?

I'm a conformist! ! :sweet:

Thats what I was thinking I cant see it but if there were a pink red lip it would be like the luke head from lukes landspeeder :classic:

I agree, i think it's really unlikely TLG would include a female pilot, without any real 'reason' for doing so. Upon close inspection it looks more like a black mouth anyway to me, so no need for panic yet people :) lol

Seriously guys can you really verify that so-called red lips in the blurry unclear preliminary pic? The way I see it, it's probably just an effect of light distortion/pixelation. Destroydacre is right, sometimes people just see what they want to see. And have you ever thought why would TLG create a new female face without any factual basis? Is this new female pilot that important to warrant a minifig? I'd bet my life that that's just going to be the regular ARC-170 pilot head.

Sadly yes it probably will be.

Well, I for one am very excited! Even though our (my and my son's) collection is primarily OT, and I'm disappointed there are no OT sets, there's lots to like here.

I've been a huge Fett fan ever since seeing ESB (my username was supposed to be 'Beatrix Fett' but unfortunately that part didn't make it for some reason). We loved seeing the Mandalorians in CW, so we will definitely be getting a Mando battlepack or five

As I only came out of my 'dark times' a couple of years ago, we didn't have any of the old Slave Is, or Jango, so I was thrilled to get the new Slave, and now we can easily add a (pseudo) Jango from the new BPs. With new helmets! I'm surprised there isn't a Pre Viszla/generic commander in the pack but perhaps that will change for the final version?

Since we don't have a republic V-Wing and my son is dead set on getting Palpy's shuttle, and I will generally buy anything involving Imperial forces, we're definitely going to need an Imperial V-wing to accompany it. I'm quite taken with the new grey astromech too

And as a fan of all things Fett, I'm also very partial to bounty hunters and I love - LOVE! - that Clone Wars has so many great female characters: Jedi, dark side gals and bounty hunters. So the bounty hunter ship will be on the list too.

Before the pics came along, I thought the Jedi shuttle would be a bit of a boring set. But just to buck the trend on this thread, I actually really like the look of it (even though the wings are completely out of scale)! I do hope we can fit two (or perhaps by some miracle, all four) minifigs in it. I'll be very disappointed if we get another Rogue Shadow scenario where a transport ship can only hold its pilot! But either way, we just gotta have Shaak Ti!

I'm not much of a Lego collector anymore, but there's something about the Mandalorian battle pack that I really like (it helps that my favorite SW character is Boba Fett, who wheres Mandalorian style armor). It also helps that it's a nice cheap set.

The V-Wing is pretty much the only other set from the first wave that interests me. Not sure I'll get it, but it's a possibility. The pilot does appear to be female (that's definitely lipstick, but for all we know that'll change for the production version.

I'd be interested in the Clone battle pack if it had more ARF troopers. The Bomb Squad and Commando style troopers don't interest me at all, where as the ARF trooper looks closer to the Stormtroopers (which I prefer to the clone ones, tbh).

The ARF trooper, though, is purely CW style. :sceptic:

hey guys, if you zoom in on the clone battlepack on the bottom left where there is supposed to be the build your army symbol. There's a ARF trooper that has gray everywhere except the helmet.

I know, it's just that, to me, it looks very similar to the Stormtroopers (can't recall what the specific type of ST I'm thinking of is called atm). Not exactly the same, but close enough for me.

I think you're thinking about the Scout Trooper. Perhaps the ARF Trooper is a predecessor?

The ARF is a special division, related in function to the Clone Scout Troopers (highly original name, I know) who are the predecessors to the Imperial Scouts.

God bless Hasbro

Whole teams just thinking of new types of clone troops for wave 200 of the action figures

Does the republic really need 500 different types of what is essentially cannon fodder? Honestly, when cost and numbers are no issue - why do you need scout clones or senate commandos? Just hurl your basic variety at the enemy, plenty more of em!

The empire seems to have worked fine with just stormtroopers, maybe they learnt the lesson

ARF, ARC, commandos, galactic marines, 501st - god bless Star Wars and it's nonsense!

Each time a new type comes out I have to get more standard clones to keep the ratio right!!

I'm not sure if this rant even relates to lego, but I'm gonna reply anyway.

  1. What does Hasbro have to do with anything? If anyone is to blame, it's the Clone Wars creators.
  2. It's pretty disturbing that you consider a human being as "cannon fodder" just because of the way it's created. :hmpf_bad: And I'm pretty sure that the money to have these clones made doesn't just fall from the sky. :hmpf: So making specialists for every kind of combat situation seems pretty smart if you ask me.
  3. If by "worked fine" you mean have their butt kicked and their two ginormous space stations blown up by a bunch of teenagers, yes, it worked out very fine for them.
  4. And no one forces you to buy anything. Not directly anyway.

While I am not happy that none of the sets are OT sets, I think that the mini figures in these sets are very promising. I am particularly impressed with the Clone Trooper Battlepack and the Jedi Starfighter (don't remember the name). Both of those as well as the Bounty Hunter Starfighter (don't remember the name) include almost all-new figures which is very rare when it comes to Lego. Hopefully the Battle of Naboo set is a precursor of more TPM sets to come. While the movie wasn't amazing, the whole battle in the end has a lot of potential that Lego never took advantage of.

Yes, I agree somewhat that part of it is comertialization. But can we agree that there are many different kinds of troops in real life? And different ranks too.

Besides, didn't the Empire have different divisions, too? There were stormies, sandtroopers, shadow troopers, TIE pilots, snowtroopers, scout troopers, imperial troopers, ect.

But I know where you're coming from, we like our BPs for army builders, not with random figs. Your argument is just flawed.

Okay, so 2. There was such a potential to dissect this in the prequels. They grew an army and while the Republic didn't really do it, the took it when offered and used it, treating the clones exactly as cannon fodder. So, where do they stand in terms of personhood? Are they the same as you and I? In which case growing them to just be soldiers is removing from them the freedom of choice to determine their own destiny. Or are they basically biological robots?

And if they are biological robots that are being given certain 'human' rights, then what do you say about mechanical robots that seem to develop beyond their original programming and have personality? Its a society that routinely wipes robot's memories. Does this influence the way they treat the clones? Is it even right to do that considering what we know about R2-D2? Do all robots have the capacity to develop personalities and its just frequent wiping that holds them back? And what does that say about IG-88 or 4-LOM?

Instead of focusing on this which could have been contrasted with Anakin's descent into being 'more machine than man', we got....what we got.

And don't get me started on how I wanted 7,8, and 9 to be the Droid rebellion led by R2 and his force powers.

Who will add to bring this back to topic. This wave excites me more than the summer '10 wave did. I don't even watch the clone wars so I don't know these ships but at least I don't already have these ships. They are new, fresh, exciting, and I can use them how I see fit.

And I hope the Mandalorians -yawn- come in more than 1 flavor. Too many BlueBerry Mandos are boring.

Don't forget EVO troopers, Incenerator Troopers, Shadow EVO troopers, AT-AT pilots, Jump troopers, just to name a few more off the top of my head. But there is a point to be made about these Battle packs, I think it's kind of nice to be seeing a some variety in them. Besides, you never see more then 3 ARF troopers together in the series, so maybe they just work in small numbers?

Thats some pretty deep thought for a couple of building blocks, I think thats a really cool concept that they (Dave Filoni and co.) have touched upon in the series, maybe the awnser to thes questions will be revealed over time perhaps?

And to veer my starship back on topic, and to continue the discussion, I'd like to add that we will probably only be getting plain Mandos in the battlepack, whether they all have jet packs or not is undetermined at the moment, and seeing as how we havn't seen what a Mando commander looks like, it will be unlikely that we get one... yet. The Mando general whos name escapes me will probably be seen later in 2011, but I don't think it would be to hard to customize one of your own, and how cool would it be to have a darksaber?

Just to get back on topic, I agree that the the BP will most probably just contain plain Mandos, but what fans would like is a little variety in the form of a Mando commander/general, just like the Clone Commander in the previous Clone BP. And the Mando general you're referring to is Pre Visla, which is pretty much easily customizable using the plain Mando - just put additional markings on the helemt, add a cape and darksaber - that's it! But I hope in some sort of miracle TLG will put him in the BP, considering specific characters have made it in the last two BPs.

As much as I like the 2011 winter sets, I am really looking forward to the summer bunch. The August models are always more impressive than the December ones. I am going to make a fearless prediction and say that we will see Savage Oppress in mini figure form this summer.

IMO, the story of the clones is a sad one. They were all basically born into slavery, and the Republic used them to their own advantage. They all have sargents that most view as father figures, are constantly faced the realisty of advance aging, have name for themselves, and several dream of better lives. Several Jedi- Vos, for example- care little about their situation, their personalites, or anything. Of course they have rights, they're not machines. But how are these rights played out in the confomarties of war? How do these clones make a life for themselves while stuck in servitude? Unfortunatly most can not make lives for themselves, and several- as such- mutiny, escape, and are hunted down. That's the harsh 'reality' of the Clone War.

?

I'm not sure I get it. We don't know what the 2011 Winter sets are, and this summer has already passed.

Did you mean,

As much as I like the 2011 spring sets, I am really looking forward to the summer bunch. The August models are always more impressive than the January ones. I am going to make a fearless prediction and say that we will see Savage Oppress in mini figure form this summer.

Or are you a Southern Hemisphere inhabitant?

Either way, if Savage is a big player in the CW storyline, I'm sure we'll see him, but he'd just be a green reprint of the Darth Maul head.

Wait, what?

Aren't we discussing the upcoming 2011 sets? (Halo, T-6, Battle of Naboo, V-wing, etc.) The sets that are supposed to release in January 2011?

Never mind, forgot January counted as winter. I've just never heard of the opening wave of a year referred to as the winter sets. Usually, I think of winter sets as the Winter Toy Shop and the late releases like the UCS Delta-7.
