I dont know if anyone has cleared this up, but Pohatu does include trans yellow bone pieces. As I remember coming across it many times in the parts bin, full of Bionicle 2015 parts. Also I was so glad they let me take home the MOC that I managed to make. I ended up stacking on a bunch of those new gold add-on pieces. I could provide pictures for later if you guys really want to see them. Sadly I only have one trans purple piece. And a load of Gold Miru's..

Unless your parts bin had different parts than mine, they are actually Tr. Fluore. Green. I have eight of them from that same building event on a MOC sitting in front of me. But of course, Tr. Fluore. Green does generally look more yellowish than greenish, particularly under certain lighting. Almost the same color as lemon juice.

A lot of things over the past few days have made me sad.

Not as in Bionicle itself making me sad, more that people have seen, held, taken home, and even reviewed the new parts (and in Tahu's case, sets) and masks, and I've been sitting at my laptop drooling at it all.

And then I realise that I'm probably going to have to wait until November-ish to get a hold of any of it... and I get very sad...

Also, to anyone that was at the MOC-event, did they have protector masks? Also, how do the new guns fire? I NEED TO KNOW EVERYTHING

Nope. They showed the Protector of Fire at the panel and demonstrated the firing function (which, from the look of things, is a LOT more reliable than the Cordak Blaster). But the parts of the Protector sets were not included in the parts bins during the building event, so the only people outside of the LEGO Group who have actually gotten to handle them are people like DeeVee who signed an NDA and received parts from the LEGO Group a month or so ago.

I have several from the event as well- they are trans neon green.

I know you have the sets and I must be mistaken. But I clearly remember reaching in the parts bin and seeing a bunch of trans yellow bone pieces, that did not look like Surge's 1.0 hero core. However I do believe that I can be wrong and if I am I do apologize. :)

Not everyone got the Tahu set directly, most of us just reached into the parts bin and tried recreating him to the best of our abilities. In the parts bin they did not have Protector pieces, although I can only speak for the three bins that I was looking through and used.

Okay. Question to DeeVee, or anyone else that can actually answer this:

How do the new guns fire? I know it's a rapid fire system, and I know it's very reliable and it shoots up to 6 studs, but hau?

...I'll see myself out.

Probably not with air as that's unreliable... I have no clue hau else it'll fire though...

I wasn't at the event, but by looking at pictures, they are operated by gear at the back, which I assume operates a system inside the shooter, similar to the new click shooter, which launches the studs.

Also, while looking at the set descriptions at BrickJournal, it appears that the Golden Masks simply control their respective element, rather than having powers such as shielding or strength. E.g. Golden Mask of Stone. It also seems that LOSS is guarding the "entrance to the ancient city".

Here's the link, for those who are interested:

I'm not DV, but it seems to me (and so the puns and rhymes continue) that you're supposed to push the yellow button (yellow=function in recent years).

So, I don't know if this has been answered already, but which shade of brown is used in Pohatu?

He's Hewkii brown (Dark Orange).

Regarding the shooter function, this MOC shows the shooters really well. They DO work like the click shooters. There is an outer ring that holds the six 1x1 round plates, and an inner section that has a single bump on it. As the bump hits each 1x1 round plate, they fire.

That press release about the new sets is awesome, but oddly some of the piece counts seem to contradict the ones on the packages. Specifically, the Protector piece counts in the product descriptions have six more pieces listed than the packaging images! Last-minute change to include more ammo, perhaps? But in that case Pohatu's piece count starts to look even more pathetic. :P

ALSO POHATU'S WEAPONS ARE CALLED JETERANGS WHEN ATTACHED TO HIS FEET AND STORMERANGS WHEN ATTACHED TO HIS HANDS. THIS IS GLORIOUSLY ABSURD.

The fact that the golden masks just provide enhanced elemental powers is okay, I guess... I liked the characters also having specific mask powers, but I can see how giving a character so many powers and abilities could get confusing (especially in cases like the Piraka where the names and designs provided no clues to what the characters' powers were, besides the usual elemental color coding). And who knows? Maybe the next form the Toa take could give them additional mask powers as part of the upgrade.

The Gatling Gun seems pretty simple. The inside yellow bit rotates around via turning a gear. There's probably a nub that gets under the stud and flings it out. So the inside bit moves, not the actual gun barrels.

EDIT: My thought's were correct. They do work that way. Thanks for confirming, Aanch!

On a side note, I figured out what I'll carve on my Halloween pumpkins: the Masks of Creation and Control. I haven't carved a Bionicle mask in years.

Indeed. Usually I can't find new constraction sets until February.

Hehehe, normally shops up my end have new sets before January.

Especially Constraction and Star Wars. We got the 2014 star wars sets late november/early december last year, we also got the Ben 10 Alien Force sets early November on the year before due release (2011?)

ooh, could you post pictures of these?

Regarding the shooters, I'm really looking forward to those. I liked the cordak blaster a lot, and from what I've heard this is even better. (Although I'm worried that tiny ammo might dissappear)

I still need to carve them (and make a pattern, for that matter), but once they're done I'll be sure to show 'em off.

Considering we only have an image of the Mask of Control from the animations, I'll be carving the cartoon versions of the masks.

Not that this is a bad thing.

At least the ammo isn't incredibly specialised and fairly common. I'm looking at you, Squid Shooters.

Yeah, now that people mention it, I am pretty envious... almost like Makuta. Anyone have a Mask of Ultimate Power I could use to get to 2015 more quickly than this hype train?

Ooh, now there is a good idea. I think I'll just carve the Mask of Creation for my pumpkin, if you don't mind. Sorry that I'm going to steal your idea...

Had a little too much caffeine this morning, Aanchir? ;-)

I'm a bit confused about the masks/golden masks. Do their regular masks have any power, or is it only the golden ones that bring enhanced elemental control? If the latter is the case, it looks like masks of power are generally gold, and unpowered masks are not, which would be interesting.

Where did you find these pictures? Im in the first one you linked and I would love to see where you found it from!

Yeah I was in the same VIP event as you and I believe I made a mistake recalling the color. However looking back at the pictures that I have on my phone (lucky you were able to get a couple of them), I now see that I incorrectly recalled them as a much more yellowish color. I think that the lighting and the coloring of the yellow parts bin made my eye believe they were a much more yellowish color.

At least you guys will get them. They'll probably be available near me in December, but it's incredibly rare that I ever have any opportunity to buy anything. (Like, I didn't get any IFB sets until two days ago. And even then I was only able to get the Flea.)

Anyway I'll stop my whining. More power to the rest of you, who will be able to review the sets to death so that I know exactly which ones I want, right?

It's all good. I'd love to see the end result.

While on the topic of carving pumpkins, can anyone get screenshots from the animations? I can't seem to find pictures of the Masks of Creation and Control. And for that matter, I'd just love to have screenshots.

I have seen several members with Mask of Control avatars, and there is no shortage of Mask of Creation imagery about.

I'm afraid the hype train crashed at NYCC. We now only have the hype replacement bus service.
