cesbrick Posted May 3, 2015 I've been wanting to do some builds different from my usual castle/fantasy tendency, so while I'm waiting a few days for some parts to arrive to do more builds to my LUGs Fantasy display, I decided to make this little truck. This is based on one of many trucks that I saw (and hitchhiked) on my home little town when I was a kid. Mr. Manel da Linda is very annoyed because that little bastard is taking toooo long to cross the road... :) This is my first thing with wheels :) so please bare with me. I must say I had lots of fun building this and definitely want to do MOCs of different themes from now on! Thanks for watching! PS: Carripana is portuguese for "old decaying ugly truck"! ;) Carripana Carripana Carripana
bjorkan Posted May 3, 2015 this "old decaying ugly truck" is brilliant, bravo for details, indeed something quite different :)
Graham Gidman Posted May 3, 2015 Like I said on Flickr, it's cool to see you doing other themes. Great build!

Redhead1982 Posted May 3, 2015 I've been wanting to do some builds different from my usual castle/fantasy tendency, so while I'm waiting a few days for some parts to arrive to do more builds to my LUGs Fantasy display, I decided to make this little truck. Venturing from other themes is always a pleasant trip. You never know what kind of a super model you'll be making. I really like the whole scene with the hedgehog crossing the dirt road and the organic shapes and sunburnt plants. It makes the truck stand out, and still narrates a story. Carripana is portuguese for "old decaying ugly truck"! I'm not a truck expert, but I'm pretty sure you got it wrong with the name. There's no way this could be old decaying ugly truck. It looks more like a retro style truck with an owner doing a really great job taking care of it.
Captain Braunsfeld Posted May 3, 2015 The truck is just perfect - you're design abilities are fantastic again!
lightningtiger Posted May 3, 2015 Excellent scenery and what a classic old beaten up pick-up truck 'cesbrick' ! Brick On !
Lady K Posted May 3, 2015 Lovely truck (not ugly truck)! A very nice MOC with the hedgehog crossing the road slowly. Love the terrain shape and colors!
Robin Creations Posted May 4, 2015 Excellent job as always, Ces!
Criga88 Posted May 4, 2015 Wow, nice venture into unknown territory, there's so much detail on that truck and a great display for it to boot. I'm still confused as to where the decay and ugliness is though?
ER0L Posted May 4, 2015 Is this your first vehicle? I'm impressed. Even if this is clearly no minifig scale (indicated by the sheer size of the wheels which are mostly used on large 8w trucks) you've done a great job in capturing the typical look of such a vehicle. That rubberband solution is interesting (I'm always experimenting with those, too) - do they stay in place like this? One suggestion would be to change the rims, though - they have a typical City look which doesn't meet the style of your truck in my opinion. Have you tried 2x2 round plates as rims yet? They'd fit quite well here, I guess. Plus you'd have a nice choice of colours.
cesbrick Posted May 4, 2015 Thanks guys and gals! It is indeed a very good feeling building different things. I've been so focused (for various reasons) on medieval/fantasy MOCs that I almost forgot how fun is to build anything in Lego. Is this your first vehicle? I'm impressed. My initial plan was to not include a minifig but later on I decided to put one and a little "story" to go along and it looks a little bit strange indeed. I'm not sure I understand about the rim. Do you mean on the wheels? If so, that's a very nice suggestion. I did not think on that. Thanks for the tip. Always learning
