[image heavy post - this is an involved model with a lot to show. Consider yourself warned!]

After a long day's hiking, Commander Turtle and Dr. Killjoy make camp.

zmoLe4tl.jpg

dOElcZV.jpg "Did you collect enough samples, Dr. Killjoy?"

jsJUWF9.jpg "I did. By the way, call me Fabian."

dOElcZV.jpg "Call me Commander."

jsJUWF9.jpg "..Yes, Commander."

*rumble*

jsJUWF9.jpg "Did you feel that?"

S4eccic.jpg

dOElcZV.jpg "What on Orinshi is that?"

kcVTDnW.jpg "Hi Commander! This is Noa."

dOElcZV.jpg "She's massive!"

kcVTDnW.jpg "...Noa is our new robotics engineer, and she also has the training to operate the Landship."

fHj6ViZ.jpg "Hello, Co-"

dOElcZV.jpg "The Landship? Is that what it's called? It's so cool!"

kcVTDnW.jpg "Did you read the memorandum I sent you at all?"

fHj6ViZ.jpg "Why don't I show everyone around?"

PT4TidK.jpg

fHj6ViZ.jpg "This is cargo hold, although we have created a small science bay here. On the left are the crew bunks."

tPe1g5B.gif

fHj6ViZ.jpg "This is the lead bedroom."

WkLAZcv.jpg

fHj6ViZ.jpg "This is the driving seat. I will be your driver."

dOElcZV.jpg "No, I will drive."

fHj6ViZ.jpg "Commander, it requires a 10 week training course at the highest level."

dOElcZV.jpg "Oh, nonsense, I've played videogames with bigger vehicles. How hard can it be?"

1aJM1Ws.jpg

kcVTDnW.jpg "Oh hi, Commander!"

u4deN4I.jpg

kcVTDnW.jpg "The control room lets us support you much better on missions. We'll be sending more drones too, as Noa is specialised in that."

anC7mpb.jpg

fHj6ViZ.jpg "This is the hanger crane with the Hummingbird Mk II."

H0DxqfA.jpg

fHj6ViZ.jpg "The crane controls, you can do a full 360 with it. It should help with launching. And that concludes the tour!"

dOElcZV.jpg "Excellent. Where the devil is Fabian?"

VB9aDCX.jpg

jsJUWF9.jpg "Aren't you a little cutie? Yes you are! You sure are!"

The full Landship:

Spoiler contains more shots that aren't from minifig POV! Plus commentary:

The crane is the most carefully engineered part. Making something look nice while also having the backbone to lift a ship without a counterweight and rotate 360 degrees was tough; I've ended up anchoring it right through the floor and I'm dead pleased how that part came out.

The Hummingbird needed some wing upgrades to make it a perfect fit here. Magnets are definitely the most fun way to dock something.

The landship was meant to become a storytelling vehicle, so I had to make it very deconstructable. All the sides pull off to get much better photography angles. However, it uses so many damn parts that it might be tough to keep it together - I don't have that much Lego, my collection is ~25,000 parts and this is eating over a thousand!

Crew bunks and the driving area.

I've been getting progressively better at making unintrusive sliding mechanisms. Pretty proud of this one, and it seemed relevant to get some Japanese styling/iconography in there.

The camp fire is purist, it uses a light brick for the glow.

Hope you enjoyed this! I certainly enjoyed building it!

She's massive! For some reason, the look on your sigfig's face combined with the sliding door animation and "This is the lead bedroom" I found hilarious. Very cool build. I love all the details inside. It looks like a lot of fun to play around with and a lot of fun to build. Nice work!

Great work Turtle, love the design and all the cool functionality! Love the small details, such as the sliding door, the microscope and the usage of old train controls for the control panel. Awsome build! :classic:

Humungous! What a great build, really superb concept and very well made with beautiful details. I find that sliding door expression very amusing too.

Amazing build. I love that it's basically a mini aircraft carrier on land instead of water. What a great idea, especially considering all the landlocked planets in Andromeda. You also coupled a great build with some pretty funny storytelling. Great work, Turtle. My favorite from you yet I think.

Man, and I thought my vehicle for next week was big! That thing is huge! Love that little science area (and the cute turtle). Great use of space and the aircraft carrier top is well made too!

I should definitely pay more attention to his face. He only has "grumpy" and "very grumpy" expressions though so I sometimes forget! Glad you had a laugh
