Recently there was some talk in the LEGO Games topic about how with the creation of Microfigs there should be Macrofigs. While at LEGOLAND California recently I found this on the ground and kept it, but it most certainly a MACROfig.

What do you think? I recently saw these were selling on Bricklink for UP TO $20 but I can guarantee you that they can be bought for much less as they are a guaranteed prize for an activity that costs a mere $3.

You found it on the ground and took it? I certainly hope it wasn't part of a display or something...

That "macrofig" doesn't look very practical for using it on MOCs or anything, but I guess it makes a nice paraphernalia.

It's not. I explained that it was a souvenir for a $3 activity when I was commenting on the surprising Bricklink price for a similar item.

No, not for MOCs. And not for paraphernalia, either, I'd wager, as I don't see it being an essential piece of equipment in any process. But it's just a neat thing to have that is LEGO related as it has from the waist up the same functionality as a regular LEGO minifigure.

How very interesting, I'd never heard of these before. I presume they were made for some sort of promotion at the LEGOLAND parks or something?

Can the head and the arms move, or is it a solid figure?

Yep. Head and arms move, but hands do not move in the wrist socket. From the waist down it is unmovable.

If I did this, it'd be my first MOC ever as an AFOL. I think I will start to work on it tomorrow. :classic:

Heh, what I meant with paraphernalia is the useless stuff that fans collect and gather in any fandom. I have some figurines and posters and other junk too, although they're not related to LEGO.

So paraphernalia equals collector's item of sorts, in this sense.

There was a seller on eBay who seemed to have an endless supply of these, usually going in the $8-10 range, but always starting at .99 or so. I picked mine up for under $3 in an auction that mostly went unnoticed.

The part that fascinated me most was the brown construction helmet. I was a bit disappointed to learn that the actual figure isn't built the same way as a minifig, but it makes decent display piece and I would be interested in other varieties.

I always meant to experiment with possible uses for it, now it's nice to see that someone will do that work for me. :sweet:

As far as I know, this figure has been available for quite a long time and sold on eBay and Bricklink on and on, and yes, it originates from LEGOLAND park.

I agree that if its structure was the same as normal minifig, it would be much funnier. The worst thing is the "Macrofig" is not of the same type of plastic as normal minifig.

You can also get the really big ones used for display in toy shops back in the 90s and bubble bath bottles (usually the head unscrews) alas I have not got the space for a retail display figure and the bubble bath bottles are a bit pricey for what is essentialy an empty liquid soap bottle.

Oh, and I think McDonalds did some larger lego figures of the sport variety that left a lot to be desired and were only in America.

(Peppermint_M providing useless information since at least 1997!)

I asked in a shop. The sailer asked Lego if it is possible to commercialize this promotionnal MacroFig.

Lego said, for the moment this macrofig isn't for a commercial purpose because of the plastic. It could be broken in sharpen pieces and probably dangerous for kids. It is necessary to make some test before to sell it. But maybe it's only a project, I don't know.

(I'm really sorry about my english :(

french version :

Wait and see comme disent les anglophones :)

Interesting. Could you please provide some more pics and information, like what "activity" you get it from, what it looks like from the bottom and back, and maybe even compare its size with that of larger figs, like Fabuland or technic? That would be great!

I am also looking forward to your MOC! :sweet:

I have only ever seen a few Macrofigs, like on ebay for example, but nobody has ever specified in how to get them.

I think that the only one I remeber was an Aquaraiders character, like maybe Ogel?

I saw it in a Toy's R Us, and a Jouet Club shop in Paris.

If I go there again, I'll try to take some pictures.

Niiice, I want one!

And interesting pic CopZopMike, where did the giant clown come from?

Does anyone know if the macrofig is available at Legoland Windsor? I'm (probably) going there on Monday.

First: *envy* I have to go to uni on Monday ¬¬

Secondly: I have never seen them in Legoland Windsor and I have been there every year for at least the past five years. Sorry. All I have ever obtained is a gold panning medal, a Lewa trans neon yellow mask and a cardboard driving school card (sans picture). So if it is a new promotion you might get one but I have never seen one before in the wild.

Same here, I've been every year since it opened 12 years ago (22 times actually), and I have alll those things too, so I wonder if it's new...
