  1. Here's my depiction of Endor in the style of TLG's Architecture Skylines series. It was built for a competition over at IDS. Enjoy!
  2. Hi All I've been building small star wars mocs lately. I usually restrict myself to mainly figs. I've always disliked lego speeder bikes so have made couple of my own variations. They are quite different builds but both despite being built on the same frame. There seems to be a mini fad on these lately... And here is the minifig scale one.
  3. I've always had the ambition to make a model worthy of the iconic designs from the Star Wars saga. I don't know how I ended up building an AT-ST some months ago, but it might have something to do with my adoration of marshal banana's and Brickdoctor's masterpieces. I hope this MOC is a worthy tribute. This model is built entirely in Lego Digital Designer, and that has had its consequences. Firstly, I couldn't use illegal (or just complex) connections, which resulted in some strange decisions (I still think tiles would have been better for eyelids. For the same reason, I couldn't get a cockpit interior. The connections needed to achieve that would take a ridiculous amount of aligning pieces...). The second consequence is even more important: I couldn't test the stability of the creation. So I could have spent a lot of time thinking this or that connection would be stronger, but unfortunately I couldn't experiment. Therefor, I stopped trying to make it super stable and concentrated on different aspects. This doesn't mean I took care to avoid the connections that are obviously weak, but I can give no guarantees whatsoever the model will hold (I give it 10% max). I used that time to focus on detail and realism. I tried to follow the original model as accurately as I deemed possible, and took care to avoid studs and axle holes to give it a more realistic look. I guess this is the most studless AT-ST MOC ever made... Also, I tried to include the same amount of points of articulation as in the original model, except in the feet, that certainly wouldn't allow a freedom under such load. Finally, I didn't build this model with Bricklink's catalog next to me, giving me a lot of freedom. The result is that not all parts of this model are available though. I'm sorry that it will remain a digital model. My real objective was to make something like "the ultimate AT-ST MOC". Now I realise there is no such creation, but every creation has its flaws and its strengths. I hope you can still appreciate it. So here are the pictures [MOC] AT-ST by Bert.VR, on Flickr When I had finished the model, I couldn't resist adding a small scene very much in the spirit of marshal banana's creation. I hope you like my try at the Ewok glider. [MOC] AT-ST - from all angles by Bert.VR, on Flickr Here are some 'technical views' to give you an idea about the proportions. I really like how most shapes turned out, but in the end the 'butt' is sticking out a bit too much for my taste. Still, I think it looks great from every angle. [MOC] AT-ST - Join the Empire! by Bert.VR, on Flickr This shot ended up being way more dramatic than intended, but I really like it. It gives you a closer look at the head and shows the details I added on the underside. There aren't a whole lot of very greebly areas on the model, so most of them you can see here. There aren't really any extraordinary parts usages in there, but I tried to mimic the details as good as possible [MOC] AT-ST - glider perspective by Bert.VR, on Flickr Another limitation was that I couldn't use flexible parts. These railings could have benefited from it. The same goes for some piping on the back. But anyway, here you can see how the head comes together. I like how the seams are minimal (not an easy feat in LDD!). I'm also quite proud of the solution I found for the side cannon. You wouldn't believe how many iterations I went through to arrive at this! [MOC] AT-ST - the rear by Bert.VR, on Flickr I guess every model has that one area where the structural elements shine through, making it a bit more ugly from that perspective. This is that angle. I also had to do a lot of fishy connections to cover it all up, especially with the connections of those decorative panels. Shifting to the lower section, I'm really glad with those exhausts. I couldn't use cheese slope mosaics, but a very accidental click led me to these brancard wheel pieces, and they just snapped perfectly into place. [MOC] AT-ST - who needs stable legs? by Bert.VR, on Flickr I spent a lot of time just to get the curved section at the front of the legs. I got the shape right, but the Technic holes aren't pretty. Still, this was the best thing I could come up with. Same goes for the feet: very tricky. The original model has a nice curved shape, and the only part that can match it has to be one of the cockpit pieces. That one had impossible connection points though, so I stuck to this solution. This isn't supposed to be all complaining of course. I had a blast building this model, and I hope you see it. With my comments, I tried to give the model some more nuance for you. I'd love to hear what your comments are! __________________ LXF File available here
  4. Just my luck. I was just on patrol round the forest moon, minding my own busines, on the look for rebel scum. I was riding my good ol' speeder bike. She was one of the earliest models in the fleet, but I was in no rush to change her. You have to be a skilled pilot to navigate the trees on Endor. Luckily I was, or at least I thought. I was grounded on a tree. Oh dear. I had to get to the left fender to kickstart the engine. Stupid design, I tell you. So I grabbed my screwdriver and cautiously made my way to the fender, and... ARGHH! I slipped. That was close. I had to call backup, but my coms link had fell out of my belt. I just hope no rebel scum get here. Could a mod please make it bigger? Thanks. C&C welcome. By the way, this is not a SoNE entry.
  5. Hello everyone, It has been a very long while since I have ever written a LEGO Stars Wars review. Most of the time, I will be very fascinated with the various releases of LEGO Star Wars battle pack since 2007 which I am particularly interested in as battle packs will ultimately allow LEGO fans to gain access to army building and in the context of Stars Wars universe, this is particularly true for many who are bending to build either a strong imperial empire or a resilient rebel force. Without further ado, let me show you the beauty of this battle pack. Name: 9489 Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack Theme: LEGO System / Star Wars / Episode IV-VI Year: 2012 Pieces: 77 Minifigs: 4 minifigures Price: USD $12.99, GBP 11.99, EURO N.A, SGD $30.90 Resources: Brickset, BrickLink An original box image of the 9489 Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack Back view of the original box image of the 9489 Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack The struggle for victory continues in Endor Forest Many of us grew up watching the Star Wars movie and notably, one of my favourite Star Wars movie is the Episode VI: Return of the Jedi where the focal scene is at the Endor Planet filled with dense forest, Ewoks village, multiple skirmishes with the imperial army and the ultimate victory for the rebel troopers. Wow, I didn't expect to be able to condense this lengthy movie in just a short sentence. I will certainly be focusing more on this set and till this date, this 9489 Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack is the sixth wave of battle packs and this battle pack is a class of its own which is definitely highly desired by Original Trilogy fans. The content of the sealed box The sealed box comes with two mint numbered packages and an instruction manual to guide the user to build up the set. After the building is completed, these are the remaining spare parts. Let's start the building process A short comic scene at the end of the instruction manual At the end of the instruction manual, there is a very short illustrated comic scene where the stealth rebel troopers is awaiting to ambush an unknowing scout trooper who is on duty. It is pretty illustrative to show the playability of this set in just four picture frames. The opposing armies of the Imperial Forces and the Rebel Troopers As always, many of us buy battle packs mainly for the minifigures and judging from the image itself, this is certainly the key reason why I am buying multiple packs. For myself, I had acquired a total of five of such battle packs and not because the set is featured on a heavily discounted sales but instead the minifigures of the opposing sides is a very tempting reason to justify my multiple purchases. It is simply because I have always wanted to build an Endor army and the only set with Endor rebel troopers can only be found in the 8039: The Battle of Endor. There were no other LEGO Star Wars set that contain any Endor rebel troopers with the exception of this battle pack. Without this battle pack, many army builders will have to resort to pay premium price to acquire these type of troopers to build a decent platoon. I could not want to spend more than USD$10 (average) to acquire these minifigures. Therefore, this battle pack is like a dream come true. This is a close up view of the Endor Rebel Troopers and the Endor Rebels' tactical helmets which contain many fine details at the side as well. With the exception of the scout trooper that have no back printing, the rest of the three minifigures contain very detailed back printing. The stormtrooper and the scout trooper is pretty much the same old typical design, similar to previous generations of releases. However, it is welcoming to get more of these minifigures especially when there are intentions to build a larger imperial army for both of these different type of troopers. Stormtrooper and Scout Trooper are no longer faceless I can see through the helmet with my very own eyes Building up the base of the rebel hideout The completed built of the Rebel Hideout The entire built of this Rebel Hideout is small in scale where you will not be able to see the dense vegetation of the plants and foliages. The guard post where it is supposed to be well-hidden into the forest is actually a simple flick-missile feature with a technic part below to illustrate the machine gun aspect. At the side of it, there is a not-quite visible weapon rack where the troopers may place their weapons for storage. To be honest, I am not expecting a full scale well camouflaged outpost but at the same time I am not expecting it to be very bare as you can see from the above image. I will prefer to break this apart and use it more of a parts pack since there are some good brown bricks and plants parts for MOCING purpose. Another view of the Rebel Hideout The completed built of the Speeder Bike This is certainly a beautiful sleek piece of Imperial Speeder Bike where the scout trooper will use it to deploy for reece mission in the Endor Forest. Speeder Bike is also known as hover bikes or open-air repulsorlift vehicles which is powerful in speed and manoeuvrability. It is capable of carrying one or two passengers and in this case, there is only one space for one personnel. A typical speeder bike had a maximum altitude of 10 meters and could thus manoeuvre deftly over very rough terrain. In LEGO context, this Speeder Bike measured at 14 centimetres long. I will definitely don't mind owning a fleet of speeder bikes where it can be easily deployed for rough terrain reece missions. Of course, these scout troopers must watch out for incoming unsuspecting traps and they probably won't notice it since they are travelling at very high speed. Side view of the Speeder Bike Rear view of the Speeder Bike Let's hunt for some rebels! I wonder where those pesky rebels could be hiding To conclude, this set is a dream come true for many LEGO Star Wars army builders especially to those who love the Endor battle scene very much. It is the most easiest accessible approach to acquire many low costing Endor rebel troopers to build up your desired platoon. It is also another affordable way to acquire more of the Imperial Army such as the stormtrooper, scout trooper and the iconic speeder bike. The only downside for this set is the lack of dense vegetation of the physical built to camouflage the outpost and the supposed cannon. However, this is not as bad as it is and the rest of it is the main star attraction to entice many more multiple purchases on this set. Summary review Playability: 8.5/10 (Fun ambush scene to play around with opposing sides.) Design: 8.5/10 (Design of the entire set is done nicely with the exception of the outpost.) Price: 6/10 (The price is definitely on the high side with the low parts per cost ratio especially in Singapore context.) Overall: 7.6/10 (Despite of its high price tag, the entire set definitely gives you the fun playing experience.) I gave it a "4" based on my Review Score Card. What about yours? I hope every one of you enjoyed reading this simple review of mine. Comments and Criticisms are strongly welcomed. Pictures can be found in My Flickr and My Brickshelf (When moderated)

  8. I made a few minifigs in LDD of characters that I wish Lego would produce, although there is very little chance it would ever happen. Any guesses as to who they are (other than Wicket, of course)?
  9. In the occasion of the new Imperial Shuttle 75094 I virtually rebuilt two movie scenes from Star Wars Episode VI - Return of the Jedi - showing the iimperial Shuttle Tydirium approaching Endor. The model was built with LDCad and rendered with Pov-Ray. Imperial Shuttle Tydirium by papacharly24 Imperial Shuttle Tydirium approaches Endor by papacharly24 Hope you enjoy it!

  11. This is my entry (Yay! I'm the first!) for the Star Wars Vs Marvel Contest Category A. I wanted to make a fluid fighting scene, and I think this works quite well. Spider-man, "In your face!" Spider-man uses his web to pull off a speeder from it's course. He has already taken care of this Stormtrooper. A shot of the vegetation. Another shot of vegitation Another Stormtrooper. A shot from under. There he is again! Spider-man taking in 5 of the Empire's finest! I hope you like it (and vote for it) and if you do, be sure to comment!

  13. [Review] 30246: Imperial Shuttle (mini) Details: Ages 6-12 RRP: N/A Parts: 59 Introduction: There are lots of disadvantages about living in the UK; the climate, the weather, winter and endless congestion to name just a few, but just occasionally it’s all worthwhile. For some reason we seem to get a free Lego promotion a couple of times a year via one of the national newspapers. And yes, you’ve guessed it, this week we have another selection including the new Imperial Shuttle. To be honest, it’s never going to be a UCS 10212, but for 60p (the cost of the paper) I’m really quite impressed. So what do you get for such a reasonable investment, read on and find out.... The bag: Standard size polybag, showing the Shuttle in it’s glory, which is actually quite similar to the UCS version thinking about it! The landing platform and dish were the only highlights of Endor for me, but moving on... Part selection: A total of 57 (ish) including two spares. Nothing that amazing, but a nice mix of useful parts. Instructions: Standard format for polybags, it’s a bit smaller than A4 and double-sided. The model is built in 13 separate sections and is quite fun considering the small size, a maximum of 5 minutes effort. I’ve included both sides just incase you wanted to replicate it via your parts bin. The result: Bearing in mind this was essentially free (I use the paper for my recycling bin) I can’t fault it. It’s quite an interesting build and is instantly recognisable. The model is quite sturdy, and great fun to swoosh. Highly recommended if you haven’t got the space for a larger version! Summary: Cost: 5/5 – A total bargain Parts: 4/5 – Nothing special but a good selection of different elements Built: 3/5 – Not bad considering the limited size Model: 3/5 – Instantly recognisable, surprisingly detailed Overall 15/20 or 75% if you prefer.
  14. [soNE Freebuild] Deforestation.....well almost! I had a couple of hours spare last weekend and thought that it might be fun to have a bash at building a tree; this is my first attempt but I'm quite pleased with it! I quickly discovered that it's not easy to create a realistic looking trunk, but I found that the little 1x2 'log' parts help to break up the outline, and give it a bit of texture. I'm quite limited for green and brown parts (as I'm still waiting for a decent sale on the Ewok village), hint TLG.....! Lobot must retain his neutrality for this Episode, but can't resist the chance to help his Imperial comrades in the clearance of the site for the new Landing Platform. However, on arrival at Endor he quickly realises that he shouldn't have gone for the 17" chainsaw...... Lobot looking stern: Lobot looking stern (alternate view): Lobot looking stern (from another angle): Lobot about to give up: Bonus photo (not part of the Freebuild, but I spent ages building it for the Episode V banner!): Good luck my comrades, C & C welcome. Cheers, Robin
  15. After our defeat over Sullust, the Avenger was transferred away from the front lines, to a remote forest moon named Endor. Once there, we were to assist in the construction of a secret shield-generator facility and support structures. The commander of the fleet conducting the project ordered the Avenger to provide reinforcements for the ground crews. This proved to be more complicated than the commander had likely anticipated. As much of our vehicular equipment had been rendered inoperable for some time in the fighting on Nar Eurbricka, Captain Erdbeereis sent only infantry reinforcements. But the forest floor of Endor is a maze of steep ravines choked with tangled undergrowth, and a patrol of infantrymen out in it would be nothing more than a pop-up target for all the Ewoks, Sanyassans, and other unholy creatures in that wilderness to practice on. The ground supervisor made the obvious decision: he transferred walker crews from construction to patrol duties. In order to keep the pace of construction up, replacement crews for the construction work were taken from among the Avenger's men. And, once again out of the command of General Brickdoctor, I found myself slotted into another pathetic position based on the presence of "Enlisted Specialist" on my record. I was selected to pilot one of the AT-CT walkers being used for the project. It wasn't that the job I was supposed to do was terribly complex - I was mostly there to supervise a couple of construction drones while they installed pre-fabricated segments of a landing pad. But did they really have to put me on top of the landing pad? When officers were going around finding men to work the walkers, we had been asked if we had previously piloted heavy equipment, and I had answered, honestly, yes. But piloting an AT-ST is usually a highly skilled task, even more so since this one was a one-man walker. The All-Terrain Construction Transport's tractor beam claws, which replaced the AT-ST's side-mounted weapons, were usually worked by a gunner, but this walker had been modified for a single-man crew. This meant that I had to operate both the claws and the legs at the same time. I'm not sure I actually accomplished anything of value up there, so busy was I trying not to trip over my walker's toes and fall fifty meters to the ground, where I could either be crushed in my walker or sucked up by a shredder. These were finally running again thanks to a little trouble-shooting from the boys at Hanger 29, and sure enough there was one prowling around the bottom of my landing pad, cleaning up the undergrowth and construction debris. Thankfully, I was withdrawn shipside before any any serious accidents occurred. Someone in Personnel had a job for me, it seemed. OoC: My first really original build in LDD - primarily I use the software for storing virtual copies of MOC's for later reference or prototyping a design before I break out the bricks. Big thank you to BEAVeR, who did the rendering on these shots - without his help I probably would have been stuck with using LDD screenshots since I'm both a somewhat slow learner where computers are concerned and a notable procrastinator. Edit: I thought I linked to the .lxf here back when I posted. Evidently not. Here it is: http://www.brickshel...ng_platform.lxf. And while I'm at it, here's the completed platform, without any vehicles, incorporating some suggestions from BEAVeR in his comment below and an idea for the sloped connection between platform and towers that I thought of a bit too late to incorporate into the final build: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Vargonius/SoNE/BigRig/completed_platform.lxf.
  16. Edit: This is part 2 - the freebuild here helps to set-up the story. Damn, damn damn. It was a bad situation, very bad, and then it got worse. The troopers crashing through the brush flushed a bird from the trees. One of the troopers raised his blaster, tracking the bird. If he fired.... ...then the Sanyassan Marauder we'd been about to capture would probably open fire. If the Sanyassan aimed its weapon towards the troopers... ...then I was going to have to take it out. And, if I fired my weapon this close to the line of stormtroopers, they'd start blasting everything in sight, including my team, and probably each other. Damn. And the day had been going so well.. We'd been dropped off the night before, several klicks away, and by sunrise we were in position. We'd set up along the main path that ran between the edge of the forest and the grassy plains. "Bull's eye," "Crash" and I were in one group; "Romeo," "Tiger," and the Sergeant were set up a few hundred meters away. Our objective was to capture a Sanyassan Marauder. We knew they were hostile - they'd captured and killed one of Pfilbee Jhorn's survey crew. We also knew their base of operations was a primitive rock fortress out on the plains. But, we didn't know how many Marauders there were, or what weapons capabilities they possessed. The problem with stone castles is the rocks block scanning rays, so our probes can't tell us what's inside. Stone also tends to hold up surprisingly well against laser bombardment, so it wasn't as simple as just ordering a TIE Bomber fire mission. No, to get intell we'd have to take one alive. Endor is a beautiful planet; it reminds me of home. As the sun came up, and the song of strange birds filled the air, I felt more peaceful than I had in a long time. Although we'd seen Maraduers go by in pairs, trios and groups, we didn't spot a solo one until mid-day. Romeo confirmed that there was nothing coming down the path near their position. I could see quite a ways from my vantage point and it was also clear. My finger tightened on the trigger, ready to fire a stun beam... ...when suddenly the creature bolted off the path and hid behind a tree. We all prepared to fire in case it had spotted us and was about to attack. That's when Romeo radioed that we had stormtroopers on the path. Damn. There's no way this is a coincidence. We'd had a run in with an officer the day before; sending troopers to try and blow our cover must have been his way to get even. So, now here we were: The trooper about to fire on the bird... ...the Sanyassan about to fire on the troopers... ...and us preparing to fire on the sanyassan. That's when the trooper behind the would-be hunter kicked him in the aft and told him to keep moving. I breathed a sigh of relief. Five minutes later, the Sanyassan walked slowly out from behind the tree, and I shot it in the head. Stun setting, of course. While Sgt Brintt radioed the stormtrooper patrol to let them know there were friendlies on the ground, Crash shouted up to me. "Hey Birdman, climb out of your nest and give us a hand!" Finally, I had a unit nickname. I climbed down with a grin. --- The third and final part of the story is here: War Stories
  17. Imagine you have to build a podracer with elements of vehicles and fighters having taken part to the Battle of Endor for the Boonta Eve Classic. I think it could look like this one. More pictures and larger ones can be found into this flickr album. Enjoy. (it has been built for the 10-th TechLUG StarWars contest).
  18. Near the star system of Endor, a single imperial shuttle approaches the small forest moon of Endor... Controller: Shuttle Dylinium, transmit the clearance code for shield passage. Artizan: Transmission commencing. Controller: Shuttle Dylinium, what is your cargo and destination? Artizan: Parts and technical crew for the forest moon. Controller: Carry on. Artizan: Thank you, sir!
  19. Goatm-An 4-61 is a Tie pilot assigned to test fly experimental starfighters for the Empire and occasionally help develop develop new weapon platforms for the ground forces. After crash landing a Tie Fighter on Endor, narrowly escaping a gorax, and killing his way through village after village of Ewoks, Goatm has finally reached one of the Imperial construction site. Coincidentally, his friend and favorite mechanic is onsite installing some special sentry cannons. Goatm's mechanic explains to Goatm that this is a special construction site because of Vader's Exhaust Port Security Initiative. The location of this port has been kept very secret. Construction requires only underground, horizontal drilling operations, the lowering of the exhaust port into place via an Imperial shuttle piloted by an ISB pilot, two highly trained snipers on hand with orders to shoot all sentient and non-sentient creatures in the area, and a small construction crew made up of the greenest, most inexperienced, and incompetent recruits that wouldn't be able to find this location if they tattooed it on their sloppy, stormtrooper bodies. The mechanic was pretty certain these guys don't even speak basic. (Just having fun; no offense meant to my extremely talented, wonderful German and Austrian comrades) These two snipers brought some serious rifles and a specially modified speeder. The shuttle pilot expertly lowered the exhaust port though the hole below, where it was quickly attached to the underground system of tunnels. Some stormtroopers will be happy to know that this build was done with the utmost care to preserve the natural surrounding. Other Imperial's will be sad to know that this preservation did not include the Ewoks living nearby. Imperial brass inspects and approves of the new exhaust port. The Empire's new exhaust port hatch technology seems to be working well, too. Thank you for clicking. I hope that you will leave comments and criticisms below. I would like for this build to be judged, please and thank you.
  20. Sin: I hate Endor. Sir, can I get the next shuttle off this stinker of a planet? Nom Carver: Not until we've cleared an area for the shield generator. Scout, you over there, keep strimming you slacker! Nom Carver: And you, with the SaberSaw, clear that tree out of my way! Stormtrooper: Yes sir! Nom Carver: Good work. Sin: What's that sir, in the treetops? Nom Carver: It's an Ewok glider! GET DOWN! Nom Carver: It got a scout with a pebble it threw! That's gotta hurt! Nom Carver: Lord Tyrus, do you copy? Are you in your Low Altitude Deforestation Vehicle? Sergeant Tyrus: It's Sergeant Tyrus actually, the Empire promoted me for my efforts at Sullust, anyway, of course I'm in my LADV! Nom Carver: We need you down here, we got a glider and one of us is already hit! Sergeant Tyrus: Certainly sir, I'm on my way! Sergeant Tyrus: He's in my sights! Sergeant Tyrus: Got 'im! A little while later... Nom Carver: Thank you Sergeant Tyrus, you saved mine and my squad's lives I will ensure that High Command knows about your efforts. Sergeant Tyrus: Thank you sir. Nom Carver: We must continue with the mission. I will see you later... Sin: If we ever get off this mudball...
  21. After a long time, I am building for SoNE again. This is not only my first SoNE build for months, it is also my first non-freebuild for SoNE. Episode V: Secret Plans - Burn 'em out Just a year ago, I did contract kills for the Empire and operated as a spy behind the enemies lines to gather information. But then after years of experience an important mission, killing a high-ranking politician that secretly cooperated with the Rebellion, failed. It seems like the Officers sent me to Endor as a punishment for my failure. This moon is a godforsaken place where only trees grow and every place looks the same. If our mission is done I hope I am the one of the first soldiers that are allowed to move off. The first thing I'll do then is a trip to the casinos of Cloud City. Commander, all technical systems are online, we are waiting for further instructions. Alright, let's burn this place to the ground! We need more space for the construction of a new landing platform. But sir, aren't there any natives living in the woods? In the briefing before the mission we were told, that they are living in the big trees around there. Burn them out of their trees then soldier! If they try to resist then kill them, if not just leave them alone, these are just primitive life forms. Yes Sir, the order will be executed! You've heard the officer. Now burn this damn place to the ground! The faster we finish it the faster we can leave the bloody planet. C&C welcome! Thanks for viewing!
  22. “We have located a site that might be suitable for the generator,” they said, “but our sensors can’t get a very detailed view of it. Go check it out” So here I am, surfing over the forest of the green moon in my TIE Bomber. And not a tiny bit regretful to be away from battle for this one time. I still need time since… since Sullust. Being away from war, some nature, no killing to do… that will surely clear my mind. My computer says I’m approaching my target location. Not much to see here, except form those tightly packed trees that populate this planet like skyscrapers on Coruscant, making it nearly impossible to reach most places. But they say this particular position offers some kind of tactical advantage. Well, let’s find out. Let’s ready some seismic bombs to clear the area to get a closer look. Let’s pull the trigger, and bombs away… A strange feeling overwhelms me… pulling that trigger… Two loud explosions resonate through the forest. It shivers and trembles as if it’s frightenend. When the last dry creaks and dust settle into silence, the wound becomes apparent. Like the footprint of a giant, all forest has fled away from a gaping patch of destruction. Slowly and carefully I manoeuvre my craft to my newly created landing site. I shut down the engines, and all is silent. [soNE Ep. V] Uprooted by Bert.VR, on Flickr From down here, the destruction becomes even more apparent. Frightened ferns have flocked together, while a once mighty tree got uprooted. Respecting the victims of this unfair battle, I silently unload the analysing equipment. Now it’s just waiting for the long analysis to end. The humming of the machine seems almost disrespectful in this perfect si- Snap [soNE Ep. V] The human in me by Bert.VR, on Flickr A strange, furry creature is staring at me from between the bushes. I must be staring back. The creature begins walking towards me, muttering, accelerating, raising its spear. It comes running at me, suddenly silent, with a look of determination. I already have my blaster in my hands, and I’m ready to pull the… No… not again… I’m acting on instinct now, but somehow something in me – the human in me - is powerful enough to set the blaster to stun just in time. And I pull. The creature stops, and with a look of anger crashes down on the ground. I’m deeply impressed. This might have been my very first shot where I wasn’t the victim of. Instead of blindly shooting, I finally did what is right. Not what’s right according to the instructor of the academy, but what feels right. I’ve spared the life of an innocent creature that had nothing to do with this war. This is what it feels like to be a hero. Heroes must be the ones that know when not to pull the trigger. It seems that I’ve done something good in this horrible war. That uncertainty of the past couple of months… gone. I am a good person after all. I almost want to thank that creature for attacking me… But why would it attack me? Sure, it might have been confused after the blast. Perhaps I destroyed a part of its home. But whatever it was, at least no one died today. No collateral damage this time. Instead, I gently put the unconscious creature in a bed of ferns. A beep from the analysing equipment indicates that it is time for a second sample. With a renewed bounce in my step, I begin to pull it to the other side of the landing site. I stop when I discover a path between the plants. This must be where the creature came from. It goes straight into the forest, until it’s blocked by that tree, where… It can’t be… It may not be… What have I done… My legs give away, and for who knows how long, I just sit there, staring into the distance. [soNE Ep. V] No... not again by Bert.VR, on Flickr I have killed once more. Another creature couldn’t get away in time and was buried beneath a tree. Only its tiny legs remain. And it’s my fault. This time, I caused a fluffy tragedy. I have become as despicable as those who I always despised. Who was I to think I’m a good person after all. This time, it wasn’t even a foe. Not even a friend. The creature had nothing to do with this war we’re fighting. It never accepted the risk of getting killed for its cause. And yet it perished in this war. They call it collateral damage. As if it is not at all important and can just be ignored. This creature, these trees with all the invisible but beautiful life. Just collateral damage. How absurd. Everything that I’ve been telling myself in the past is simply invalid. Nothing is trivial in a war. And not a thing that you do isn’t your responsibility. That’s the thing about war. You start and fight with only your goal in mind. And then you even begin to forget that and only think war… war… war… You don’t see what happens. Well, you don’t see what really happens. You’re not clearing a landing site. You’re destroying age-old fauna and flora. You’re not stopping the enemy. You take the life of a living being. You’re not a hero. You’re a monster. War clouds your mind with brutality. War is blinding. I kept telling myself I could go on with this war, as long as it didn’t involve direct battle. But I was wrong. How can I participate in such an act of collective and destructive blindness, even with trivial acts? This small… small and everything but unimportant event… it uprooted my entire way of thinking about this war. Just like this tree, it was firm once. But one big blast threw it over, causing death and destruction… On the other hand, once the dust has cleared up, new light reaches the soil, and new beautiful things get a chance to grow. Once, I firmly believed in the good of this war, perhaps even without any good reason. I shot, I bombed for it. And my own acts, my own shots I fired, my own bombs I dropped, blew me away. Seeing all the damage I’ve done, all the sorrow I’ve dealt, I lost those roots. And nothing but a wreck remains. Immobile, without any purpose. But new lights starts sipping into my mind. What good is it to leave this war? It will still be as destructive. That’s no way to repay for all that I’ve done. I must end this war without one spill of blood. War will be the only victim of my further deeds. Only then will all of this get a meaning. But how? How can I end this war without damage for my friends and without damage for my foes? What’s good for one, is bad for the other. It’s impossible. I’m just a simple pilot, I have no power. But what about these inspired moments... when I refuse to kill a creature that’s attacking me. Maybe not all is lost after all. When the new tiny plants bath in fresh sunlight, maybe then I will be strong enough to do something. But now, those little plants are fragile… and the eclipse of war is still glooming. But through losing my roots, I think I’ve finally found firm ground. I’m not happy. Just determined. But still sad. The data of the analysing equipment indicate that this site isn’t fit for construction. Maybe it’s for the better: this place might find rest again. But then what was the meaning of all this? That’s the question I have to answer. I feel weak. [soNE Ep. V] Firm ground? by Bert.VR, on Flickr ___________________ You can find the LDD file here EDIT: instructions for the TIe Bomber can be found at Rebrickable, if anyone would be interested. The build consists of 2377 bricks. The TIE bomber (including pilot) has exaclty 1000! I hope you enjoy it. Comments are more then welcome.
  23. While testing some modifications to the incredibly poor atmospheric controls of the Imperial Tie Fighter, Goatm An 4-61 crash lands in the towering trees of the forest moon. He is lucky to be alive but also dangerously lost. Canopies above and below him keep Goatm from seeing either the ground or the sky. He also happened upon on of the filthy creatures infesting the trees around the crash site and quickly dispatched it before it could cause any problems. It may be a long journey back to the Imperial build site. I would like this build judged, please. C & C welcomed.
  24. After crash landing on the forest moon, and without a tracking beacon, Goatm An 4-61 heads in the direction of the Imperial construction site. He decides to stay in the canopy, moving from tree to tree, because of the relative safety and vantage point the great height provides. After a considerable distance, Goatm feels the trees shake. He presses himself against the rough bark and readies his only weapon, a spear taken from an unfortunate creature. A giant beast moves past him, stopping to smell the area. Luckily, faintly in the distance an obnoxious song echos through the timbers. Apparently the local creatures are celebrating something by singing about their yub nubs. *6/12 Edit - I was playing with the tree design and decided to change up this freebuild. I hope y'all like it. It's a little abstract because I didn't want to build the entire Gorax. C&C are welcome. I would like this judged; thanks in advance.
