After the brilliant UCS Mk7 Cooper, Lego suddenly turned the crank up to 55 and now we are eagerly waiting for the UCS Ferrari F40 to drop. It's a giant leap in terms of subject matter (478hp twin-turbo V8, 201 mph top speed, last Enzo-approved Ferrari) and shows that TLG can do what we want and wish them to do. But now it suddenly got me wishing for more supercars, as well as race cars, to be made in full-functioning UCS glory. I have two road cars and two race cars that I would love to see in the Creator Expert series, and would definitely buy if given all of the moolah. McLaren F1 [PF-ready rear wheel-drive, fake V12 with correct colored-internals (including the gold shield) driven by rear wheels turning, steering, accurate suspension set-up, and those doors.] Honda NSX-R GT [same functions and features as the F1, but without the gold shield and the way those door open. But they can NEVER! take away that roof scoop.] Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 [Accurate, working quattro drive (one PF L motor per axle with adder) to make the Inline-5 engine work, accurate rally suspension, steering, all those lights.] McLaren MP4/4 [Exclusive Ayrton Senna fig (set should be released either on anniversary of this car or on Senna's birthday), PF-ready RWD for the V6, suspension, steering.] I went overboard now, and I'm sure some of you would think that I've robbed you on answers, bu there are so many magnificent cars that will get lusted on in UCS, and you know many more, like the Williams FW14C or the Porsche 959. And I have a faint feeling that someone's gonna lock this topic up forever. Then again, though, TLG can go further than the F40, especially now that they have McLaren and Porsche's licenses. What will be next, however, remains to be seen. Could be the F1, though it's far too early to tell.

With the new baby pieces LEGO has produced in 2016, I had to wonder: How do Minifigures age? Besides their torsos and arms cracking, I mean. Do they start as baby figures and then get short legs and then get normal legs and then they're an adult? Or do the babies stay babies forever, the children stay children forever, and the adults stay adults forever? Or perhaps something else entirely. YOU DECIDE! Actually, don't. We'll all just discuss it. It's not for one person to decide.

Hi everyone! This is my first time entering in a Eurobricks contest so i'm really excited . I decided to make a containertruck (like 8052 (the old one)). I started building very optimistic , 200 parts max would be easily possible i thought. When i finished my model, it counted around 250 parts, so I had to remove some parts. This was unfortunately at the expense of the beautiful and firmness. It now counts exactly 200 parts. However, I'm not totally happy with the result, and I hoped that some of you would have some tips how to improve my model . Since I emerged from my dark ages, I noticed that there seems to be a trend of increasing use of Power Functions (PF) and Remote Controls (RC), in official sets and MOCs. Where adding a motor used to be optional, now there are more and more TLG models with integrated PF and RC. Even worse (in my eyes) is the fact that an official set can’t be a flagship model without any form of PF. When I see Technic MOCs in the various media, this phenomena is even more clearly visible. MOCs which get the most admiration from the community are packed full of motors, receivers, battery packs, lights, etc. The most common MOD of released sets is “RC-ing” the functions. New initiatives like the S-brick seem to confirm this trend. I observe this and I can’t understand what the fascination is, I have always had a preference for manual controls. This tend to lead to more fascinating mechanisms and make more compact models possible (just look at the amazing MINI-contest entries). In MOCs, it forces you to think about the user-friendliness of the controls and gives valuable feedback about the load on the drivetrain and the efficiency of a mechanism. I can understand adding one PF motor to avoid endless knob turning, although I found that adding a hand crank like on the 8288 Crawler crane improves this dramatically. But PF-ing all functions doesn’t necessarily makes it easier to control and takes away most of the feedback. With RC, I feel even more detached from the model and its functions. Additionally, I don’t like the noise the Lego motors make and I cringe every time a motor triggers the overload protection of a LA. When my 42030 and 8043 are switched off, the feel like dead weight and I notice a bigger threshold to take them from the shelve and play around with. All this has lead me to remove the PF and RC from a lot of my TLG sets to make the model manual: My 41999, 42025, 8070 have been de-PF-ed and became more interesting by it. In conclusion: in my opinion, PF and especially RC make a model slow, noisy, heavy, bulky and expensive. So my questions is simple: what is the fascination with motorizing a Technic model? Is it something younger generations want or demand, or is it a phenomenon driven by AFOLs? (PS: Don’t get me wrong, this is not a rant against PF and RC, I really can appreciate their value. But I do struggle to understand the fascination with motorizing everything.) -

Models will be elected by Technic staff members and some gifted builders (whose identities will remain unknown), known as the Chosen Ones Suggestions can be posted in this topic, but ultimately the jury decides Update frequency When will the Hall of Fame be updated? There's no fixed time frame It can take a while between updates (adding entries) How New Entries Are Added The editor will first make place holders, he adds new entry's in one big clump (when time is available). The editor prepares the new entry's in advance on a secrete part of the forum. You will be (or should be) aware that the forum has a time limit that needs to be reached in order to make a separate reply and not to merge with a existing reply if it is the same forum member , this means that each new entry gets post separate reply. This also allows the editor to link to that reply directly. Guidelines I know these guidelines might sound a bit harsh or unfriendly, but I hope you'll understand that they are necessary, in order to make this work for everyone, and for staff members in particular. So please refrain from: Sending suggestions via PM to staff members (we read the forum too, we'll see great MOCs) Elaborate debate with staff members (I like this one better than that one, so why is it not in the Hall of Fame?) Asking questions like "when will this MOC be added?" Asking questions like "why hasn't this MOC been added?" Yesterday I assembled my 2nd - and last - Architecture set, the Farnsworth House (21009). Three things I thought about my experience: 1 - Assembling those dozens of 1x1 white flat tiles is a PITA, not much of an enjoyment. To makes matter worse, it is impossible to assemble them so that they all become "perfectly aligned". I am a perfectionist and the fact that it is impossible, at least for me, to make them neatly aligned, because they have a certain unavoidable "slack" between them, and by being 1x1 they then can slightly rotate in the stud, does not please my eyes as I was expecting. 2 - So I had an idea to solve the problem. Dunno if this has been talked about before, but one solution would be if Lego would develop a "profiled" flat tile, a 1x2 and/or 1x4 flat tile with a profile on top of it to mimic the design as if that flat tile was like a row of perfectly aligned 1x1 flat tiles (like those bricks that profile a real brick but the profile is in its side, not on top). This would solve the problem of misalignment of rows of 1x1 flat tiles and also would make assembling dozens of tiles much easier because, well, you would have less tiles to deal with. The problem for Lego is that it would decrease a lot the advertised number of pieces of a set like 21009 making it even more difficult to "explain" why it is so expensive. Also, I am not sure it would be possible to profile the top of a flat tile, it could make it too weak. 3 - I am not really happy with this set. After assembling it, I didn't see anything very much special about it. The picture of it in the ads are great but the final product is kind of boring. I will of course keep it and the price I paid for it was very good, $15 below retail (shipping included, no tax!), but it just proves a certain theory that I have that small Lego sets usually look much better in pictures than in real life, with exception of the big ones, the ones with 1000 or more pieces: the big ones look better in real life than in the ad pictures... The ad pictures, by showing them bigger than in real life, fool the eyes.

Exactly as the title says. In the wake of a lot of people being disappointed about the 42056 Porsche set, I’ve decided to create this topic so that we can discuss the ideal features of our personal greatest supercar, and see what kind of overlap there is. There are 3 major sub categories for the things wanted, so I’ve divided it up accordingly. Looks: If it’s a real car, what make/manufacturer? Or should it be something original? Full body, or 8848 style framed body? Color? 1:8 or 1:10? Large model, or smaller, dense one? Features: What kind of engine? Remote control, or no remote control? Power Functions (Lights and/or motors), or no? Which of these features matter to you? Brakes Four wheel steering Windshield wipers Active aerodynamics Adjustable seats Realistic suspension geometry, I.E. Ackerman correction, caster, kingpin inclination, a suspension type that is not double wishbone. Convertible top Locking or limited slip differentials Is a manual gearbox fine, or would some kind of sequential gearbox be preferred? Extra steering knob, or just cockpit steering? What kind of new parts would you want? Presentation: What do you want more emphasis on, looks or functions? Presentation box, or standard box? Regular manual, or one with technical info? Price Range? Advanced instructions, and non color coded parts, or is the current system okay? B model, or no B model? Going on this list, I’ve got 3 possible versions, which I will go through. #1: BMW i8 Model can be built one of 2 ways: full body, or skeletal body to show mechanics. B model is Convertible version. 1:10 scale Features adjustable seats, realistic suspension geometry, uses control arms like real thing, windshield wipers, brakes, opening hood and doors with locks. There is no gearbox, but there would be some kind of system to allow the demonstration of how the hybrid system works in an RC vehicle, and lights. New parts: Generic rims with good offset, BMW specific wheel caps, new hubs with no slop, and new large CV joints. New crankshaft pieces for the engine, and maybe a couple of new panels, and new motors, with foldable battery box, and Bluetooth/Rf based control system. White and blue. Window box showing major components. Manual is thinner, with more parts per step, and has room for convertible instructions, and some technical information. No coffee table book. No color barf, black 2l axles, black 3l axles, black 3l pins, and no yellow/red axles. #2 Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6 1:8 scale with no B model Unimog tires. Features Adjustable seats, live axle suspension, Pneumatic diff locks, pneumatically adjustable ride height, 7 speed sequential gearbox, unless Lego could figure out how to make an automatic one, full interior, opening hood/ doors, sunroof,working steering wheel and brake pedals, working speedometer, removeable bodywork, brakes, remotely located controls for steering, brakes, and gearbox disguised in cargo bed, portal axles, lights. New parts: Generic rims with good offset, Mercedes specific wheel caps, printed parts for badges, reinforced U joints, spline shaft, new portal axle pieces with better spacing and kingpin inclination, new 9 volt battery box, grooved cam for gear shifting, new connectors. Metallic silver, with chromed components. Standard box. Manual is thinner, with more parts per step, and has an appendix of technical information. No color barf, black 2l axles, no color coding, and no yellow/red axles.(sense a pattern here?) #3: Original design 1:8 scale model, approx. Design is actually more like Nissan GTR, or Porsche Panemara, being a 4 seat sports wagon with trunk. Features 4 wheel steering, adjustable suspension which is not double wishbone, opening doors/hood/trunk, active aerodynamics, detailed engine, 7 speed gearbox, all wheel drive with limited slip differentials, working gauges, adjustable seats, windshield wipers, sunroof, and hideable rear seats. Black with silver highlights. New parts: New rims with good offset, swapable caps for either trucks or cars, new hubs/ suspension parts, new large CV joint parts which allow good steering angle, spline shaft, grooved cams for gearbox, new connectors, and panels. Box with window showing off new components, is otherwise standard. Manual is thinner, with more parts per step, and room for information on how the set was designed. No color barf, black 2L axles, no color coding and no yellow/red axles. (Seriously, there is no other line in Lego, not even City, that makes similar parts in different colors, especially when that would hurt the look of the model.) That’s what I’ve got, I’d like to see what you guys think. -
Original Post Below Well after getting information on the upcoming sets for next year It doesn't look like we'll be getting any more Pirate themed sets. Do you guys think any thing will come out later next year and we haven't heard about it yet or is it truly over again?

Eurobricks in collaboration with The LEGO Group is proud to present a new Direct to Consumer (D2C) Building Contest: Pimp My Camper! The idea is this: take the LEGO VW Mini-Camper and customise it! Create a theme version from any LEGO Theme - Star Wars, Friends, Pirates, Castle ... whatever takes your fancy! Make a Steampunk version, or a futuristic Sci-Fi camper! Give it legs or wings instead of wheels! Keep it firmly down to earth as a Town version, but just soup it up! The possibilities are endless. All we ask is that you keep the basic dimensions the same: the body must be no larger than the original (10 studs by 4 studs; height 13 plates) but reasonable overhang and appendages will be allowed; and the body must be recognisable as a VW Camper. Only LEGO elements may be used, but custom decals are permitted. You do NOT need to own the official LEGO version to build this. The instructions for the VW Mini-Camper are available to download and attached to this post. Custom parts includes BricksArms, BrickForge, etc. No placeholder minifigure (Series 7, 8 OR 9) can be used to reflect the actual positioning in the entry for the respective eligible building category. There is no parts limit as long as it all fits within the vignette. Category 7A Entries are to be posted in this topic. Category 8A Entries are to be posted in this topic. Category 9A Entries are to be posted in this topic. One entry per person. An entry must include a picture (no larger than 800x600) showing the vignette without the minifigure you built it for. Include the name (type) of that minifigure and the theme that you have done. Other minifigures may appear in the pictures. You may include up to 3 more images following the same rules. If you choose to take additional pictures, you may link to an outside gallery. Digital backgrounds are allowed. No LDD entries. Upload your images onto those dedicated image hosting websites such as Brickshelf, Flickr, etc. Do not use Eurobricks attachment to upload your images. No webcam or cellphone camera images can be used for the submitted entry. It must be taken in a clean and decent background with enough brightness to show the beauty of your entry. The contest begins now and will end on the 13th of May, 2013 at 1200hrs (GMT+8). Voting will begin immediately after that and will last eight days. In the event of a tie, the Staff will vote to decide the winner(s) and all Staff decisions are final. Any violation of the rules will be subject to disqualification. The Voting! Dear all, *Special thanks to Eurobricks Bionicle Moderator, Brickthing for the design of the teaser poster* It's highly uncommon for me to put up a topic like this in the Special LEGO Themes forum. Perhaps, some might felt it is unnecessary to highlight something which is of a past news but I do like to emphasis the objective and the rational of this topic. With the assistance of our EB Bionicle Moderator, Brickthing who have kindly designed this teaser poster on behalf of Eurobricks. This CMF teaser poster is meant to signal and reinforce the upcoming exciting news of the 71000, LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 9 which is done in a well-coordinated fashion by releasing of teaser information in an authorised source by TLG first. This excites many because none of us had actually got any idea on what Series 9 is going to look like until 26 November 2012 which they first revealed a collage of these nice teaser shots of the Series 9 minifigures' back-view. It all started with the TLG Teaser image provided by the Facebook official LEGO page, a new approach to outreach its fan through social media platform. The comment left by the official TLG representative indicates as followed, Thus, I come to believe that 3rd December 2012 could be the very date of unveil the true story behind Series 9 which will take the LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series into another whole new level. What do the rest think? Do you think TLG have done a great job to keep this information until an appropriate time of release? Or will you like to see waves of preliminary images flying in and out to spoil us? I am putting this discussion across is like to find out what our community thinks? What will you like Eurobricks to do to celebrate the new Series 9 launch and its continuation? I am leaving to you guys for discussion. In less than a week, it will all be reveal. So, being a Call of Duty fan and a military builder, I started wondering what a LEGO Military theme would be like. IMO, if they make one, it should just be one-sided sets, like a Humvee and a squad of soldiers, or a helicopter with its crew. Personally, I'd leave the enemy building to kids, but at least have tanks, trucks and helicopters. Now, TLG has already made helmets (7595), vests (4439 or 8971) and various guns like the Tommy guns and pistols for Batman/Indiana Jones, and other themes. Face it: they've made guns, and pretty detailed ones at that, they've put them in themes based on movies including violence/death like SW, Batman, and Indiana Jones, and the Agents' theme has pistols. If parents allow kids to buy sets like these, why not make a theme like this? Plus, they have the age range on sets saying that this set was made to be built by kids or teens or adults. Other LEGO knock-off themes have done it, and LEGO kind of has started to do so. So what do you think? Should LEGO make a Military theme or not? I say yes.
