Wouldn't a "Like" button improve the forum
L@go replied to Vindicare's topic in Forum Information and Help
I agree with the majority here - as it has been pointed out in earlier discussions on the same topic, if you like a creation why not take the ten seconds it takes to write "I like it" (or, preferably, take twenty additional seconds to tell the builder why you like it or what your favourite feature is)? -
It's a lovely display you have there - so realistic with a town built along the one stretch of road and a railway line. And while I've never been to Australia and can't relate that well to the type of architecture, there is so much to like, especially your general building style and all the details. The work you've done with the stickers is also very nice and adds realism to the diorama. Well done!

MOC: Built of my local museum, The Dickens Opera House
L@go replied to dvsntt's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This really is beautiful. Those awnings are particularly nice, and the sign is a neat little build. Well done! Shouldn't this go in the Town forum, though?- 20 replies

Some great entries and three worthy winners. All three would make lovely additions to any table town. Congratulations!

Well built! I really like the bedroom, and the area with the lime green chair and the curtains. I'm also a fan of the porch, and it's very interesting to see how well sand green goes with white. Worth keeping that in mind for later. The chairs on the rooftop is a nice addition as well, although I think what would make this building even better would be an access hatch for the roof - and some way to get into the basement. That's the only immediate ways I can think of to improve it. Again - well done!

All of this looks really nice, and it's a great way to build a diorama. But using those skis that way to create the 'X' pattern on the crossings is particularly clever. Nice parts usage!

Points to Cecilie for the nice ice cream bike and to KartoffelViking for the hilarious ambulance, but that red triplane is just gorgeous. So: 3. Quarryman - 3 2. Cecilie - 1 11. KartoffelViking - 1

Thank you for that! It's a bit hard to know which criteria to reward - do you go for the one that's better compared to the original one, the one that looks best or the most creative one? But in the end, I just couldn't resist the walrus mech and - not least - the lure of the delicious Mozart ball. So, I will have to say: 11. Si-MOCs - 1

Another thing that would make this a lot easier, is actually adding numbers to the entries... ;)

Lego Collectible Minifigures by Nationality

I know. So for that reason and the fact that skiing is a Nordic invention, it's a good choice. -

I'm a bit curious as to how you managed to make Florence Nightingale Swiss, though? On another note, I noticed that you changed the skier from Swiss to Swedish. While the origin of Alpine skiing as we know it might be - as the name implies - the Alps, you originally stated that the Swiss invented skiing. Which they clearly didn't. So that's a good correction :) -
Or you could always try an entirely different colour. Like I did. Although the taste police still hasn't decided on that one... ;)

I spotted this on Flickr a couple of hours ago, but it's to good not to comment on again: I love it! The general architecture, the colours, the clean style, the curves, the sign, the sideways-mounted windows - and that's just the outside of it. The inside is just as great - especially the ground floor with the bar and the reception desk. Again: The curvature is fantastic and so right for that era. Gorgeous!

Thank you for an interesting read. I especially liked the article on Arjan's fantastic ships, the interview with Jamie Berard and, for reasons that might be obvious, the piece on the Adventure Book. I always enjoy a new issue of the magazine - not least because of all the work you put into the presentation and layout. Keep it up! :)

Welcome to Ameribricks.com - Major Changes Coming!
L@go replied to Shadows's topic in Forum Information and Help
Well, it's still April 1st for almost three hours here, but obviously everything now revolves around American time zones... Oh, and by the way: I have no idea how you guys pulled that off, but my toaster is now amazing. I guess being able to do stuff like that is part of the awesomeness that is being American. -
It's a very nice house in itself, but on the inside you've really pulled off that feeling of refurbishing that we talked about. The kitchen is great, and the saw is just about perfect. It's also very interesting to see that modular alley/garden solution in practice - it works very well!

It WORKS! On my laptop, that is. If you'll excuse me, I have to go check on my toaster. -

I've seen this coming for a while, and it was about time! We Norwegians dislike the rest of Europe so much that we've chosen to stay out of the EU, so I feel more like an American than a European anyway. Plus, I have tons of relatives over there. Great idea! And a lovely banner. Could you possibly squeeze in one of the CMF cheerleaders too? Or both, grrr... And maybe we finally can get rid of all those stupid posts from people complaining about the huge price differences on LEGO worldwide. It's cheap in the US, so why care? By the way, I can only see this gorgeous banner on my iPhone, it very boringly doesn't show up on my laptop, where I still have the Fabuland one. Why is that, I wonder? I want that banner on my laptop, too. I want it on all my devices. And on all sites I visit, come to think of it. Can you make that happen? Please? -

Oh come on! Now that you've learned to master the art of stop motion animation... ;) -
You're incredibly good at building these, your Flickr account is a virtual treasure trove. This building is a very nice subject because of its highly unusual shape, and you've nailed it perfectly. Well done!
