  1. That is not the easiest ship to build in Lego. Great job !
  2. Thanks for all your great comments. It's going to give me even more motivation to get it complet ! It's planed, I want to make some corrections to engine section before I decorate it. You don't fell like swinging a 15kg ship all around, both arms stretched to hold the 150cm ? ^^ As you say, the spine has to be as solid as possible. I am thinging about using 8 paralele lines of 1x16 Technic bricks with an offset of 2 studs and with 2 layers of 1x8 and 2x8 plates. Can you see anything else more rigid that could fit inside the spine ? I've also spent time reducing the weight of each part of the ship. That is actually microscale :-) . Yet, I don't know why TLG never released a Nebulon B frigate. There are some nice designs out there, like the one on Ideas. It's at a good scale to be sold as a set. Anyway if they don't make it, we will ! The inside of the engine section look like this : WIP 6 by Samir Lrhoul, sur Flickr I will ! And I'd love to see other persons build it too. It's not much bigger than Anio's Venator or Cavegod's AT-AT, just a bit longer :-D
  3. The Redemption is one of my favorite ship in the original Star Wars trilogy. I really wanted to the build a UCS model of it. Yet, people who have built it aren't sharing the instructions for the moment (I understand why now ...). Last year I decided to design it under LDD with the goal of building it for real and displaying it ! Here are the conditions I've set and decision I've made: - A scale of 1/250 : -> 1/200 is actually better suited for this project. - Around 5000 parts : -> This was changed to 9000. - Only cheap and common parts : -> It's almost the case, all the parts are common. -> There are some expensive parts : the Technic bricks, the plates and few slopes. - Swooshable -> It will probably be swooshable as long as you don't hold it from the center. -> It will weight something like 15 kg ... - Be as close as possible to the movie model -> I am using about 200 pictures of the original model used for the movie -> I am using some pictures of the work done by ShowCraft on the therpf forum (He seems to have alot of information I don't) -> For the color scheme, I am using light bluish gray because 1) the parts are available and 2) you can't really see the colors in the movie -> In the movies, the model was mirrored to show the right side. If it is interesting, I use the model design, and if not, I mirror. - Build it by May the 4th 2016 -> It's going to be complicated ... I am about half way done with the design. Here are the pictures of the current work : WIP 4 by Samir Lrhoul, sur Flickr WIP 3 by Samir Lrhoul, sur Flickr WIP 5 by Samir Lrhoul, sur Flickr Please comment ! I'd love to know what you think of the current work and if you have any advises. PS : the flashy colors or things that will be modified.
  4. The hook looks good ! For the non-Lego aspect, it's really a matter of choice. Some are purist, some use custom parts, some modify parts or print decals. The important is having fun !
  5. Waow ! You have more pictures ?
  6. Cool build. It seem's there is an animal under the armor, it would be nice to see it appear on your MOC :-)
  7. Unstable terrain or water infiltration :-D
  8. Hello and welcome on Eurobrick :-) This Venator-Class Star Destroyer is a MOC (My Own Creation - build by someone). I've heard of two like this, one had a metal structure, 43.000 parts and has been sold for charity for over 16.000 USD. A second one was build only out of lego. It's going to be complicated (and very expensive) to get your hands on it. If you are looking for something more accessible, Anio (a Eurobrick user) has design a quite nice one and has made the instructions available ( http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=37663&st=0 ). You could get the parts one Bricklink.
  9. It looks like a smaller version of the 10212. Nice mod :-)
  10. Wow ! Realy nice work there ! Will you be sharing LDD / Instructions ?
  11. Favorite minifigs + LDD, that's what I brought going on a one year road trip :-)
  12. Possibly retro-engineering, it does't seem very complex to do on your BR 455 ... Or maybe he just posted your own pictures ? It's a shame anyway ... Can you contact Lego IDEAS ?
  13. Having both, the Sandcrawler is much more interesting to build. It has alot of minifigs two. For display they are both beautiful and impressive. My heart goes for the Sandcrawler :-)
  14. It's a good question ! The Xwing is actually very expensive in terms of parts / minifigs / weight ...
  15. Had the same problem with the SSD 10221 and the 1x1 modified with clip : http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=2555#T=C . 15 of them broke I called the customer service and they sent new ones for free :-)
  16. Cool design. It's almost looks real :-) And really nice vidéo too !
  17. Nice creation, I love the artistic style :-)
  18. It really depends on your budget. You will save money on having one list of wanted parts. Yet, you might have to wait longuer and build the projects at the same time. I am planning on sourcing 5 projects (25.000 parts) in 2016 and only make one wish list. These projects have alot of parts in commun and repeatedly use the same parts. I can save on the orders and on the reduced prices when buying in quantity. I dont mind if it takes me the while year :-)
  19. Thanks Anio, I found it ! I've almost managed to list all the parts now. Count me in when the instructions are ready :-)
  20. Hi Anio, Love your UCS Hailfire Droid MOC (as always) ! Just wondering, the 1L lift arm is a custom ? (can't find any reference)
  21. You meant MOD or MOC ? Wonderful work ! I love the support too.
  22. How to choose sides when you are 1) a collector for sealed boxes, 2) a collector wanting precision, 3) a collector liking to mod, 3) a MOC collector 4) a MOC modder and 5) a MOC designer ????
  23. Wow ! Nice !
  24. I have to say, it did seem like a noob question. Sorry if I answered like that. My personal solution to buy parts : is to export part list from LDD to Bricklink using LDD Manager and then use Brickficiency to select shops for lowest price. I stopped using PaB because of the limited catalog, the price and that horribly slow interface .....
