  1. Thank you ! LDD-to-POV does a good job rendering (if you are very patient) ! I'll start by completing "La Poste Du Louvre" before realizing the hole street Thanks ! Merci ! Are you talking about the pause room ? Thank you ! I had a look at your gallery, you build nice modulars ! You don't mind if I use some of your techniques ? Thanks ! It really motiving to see all your positive comments ! I've already started to design the extension. I'll keep you informed ! It will take a while (and alot of orders on BL) to build it for real. I really plan on doing it and i hope it will be good enough so that the associations here in France let me expose it !
  2. Thank you ! And yes, I plan to brick it, when it will be completely finalized with the 2 side wings. You are right ! It's missing some modern technologies. I'll add that. Thanks ! Thanks ! I'll work on it !
  3. Hello everybody ! I wanted to share with you my first modular MOC; La Poste Du Louvre ! [EDIT] You can now find the lxf files here : http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/samlr/PosteDuLouvre/floor_1.lxf http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/samlr/PosteDuLouvre/floor_2.lxf http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/samlr/PosteDuLouvre/floor_3.lxf http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/samlr/PosteDuLouvre/roof.lxf http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/samlr/PosteDuLouvre/complete.lxf Try to find the skeleton ! [/EDIT] For a big city project, I wanted to have parisian type buildings buildings. I first thought about La Poste Du Louvre because every city needs a post office and because it's typically the kind of building you'll find in Paris. It's known by everyone how live in Paris because it's the only post office opened 24/7. It's life saving when you forgot to send you university inscription form or your income tax declaration :D The architect who designed the building in 1878 is Julien Guadet. It inspired me for the front of the building. The roof and the interior are from my imagination. You can find more picture on my flickr gallery : And this is a link to wikipedia article about La Poste Du Louvre : http://fr.wikipedia....trale_du_Louvre It's made of 4500 parts. I plan to add two side wings to bring it to 96 studs long, and correct some details. Before I do this, I'd really like to know what you think about it and what you believe could be improved ? Best regards, SamLR
  4. TLG releases an average of 2 big Star Wars sets per year. Some are UCS "display" sets, like the B-Wing (10227), X-Wing (10240) or Imperial Shuttle (10212). Others are "play" sets like the Ewok Village(10236) or the Death Star (10188). In 2014,the two big sets will be the Sandcrawler (75059), which will be a "play" set and probably the Slave I (75???) which will be a "display" set. Based on the price and on previous sets, you can hope on having 2200-2600 parts and 8-12 minifigs (Probably Luke Skywalker, Owen Lars, 3 Jawas, R2-D2, C3-PO and some other droids).
  5. Would this Sandcralwer be source of inspiration for the next UCS ? :D
  6. Assume your passion for Lego's ! They can't accept your passion if you feel ashamed about it. If it's hard to assume in the beginning, you can find some excuses : "It's better than smoking", "It's a passion you can share with your dauther" etc...
  7. Lego is not a bad placement and you can clearly earn money. An average of 200% on 3 years, choosing some specials sets, more if you have time and space to spare. Personnaly, I invest to pay my collection. I would not have been able to buy my 10179 MF without investing in Lego.
  8. UCS Imperial Shuttle 10212, I both 2 of these and I hope to trade one against set 10195
  9. Dear Legolandia, I agree on most point except for TLG entering the limited type of business. Actually, they just did with set 41999 Crawler Exclusive Edition. Now I would love too discuss about investements. You being in a different country would just make it even more interesting. However, as Fuppyloaders, this is not the place (Sorry )!
  10. Chocolatecake, you toke the words from my mouth ! I can't see other toys where you have this freedom ! Beside, I'm not sure all parents would appreciate there children playing with transgender minifigs. Here in France, half the population would be shocked "Oulala" ...
  11. Not sure a 750euro would be such a bad idea after all. Actually, I believe they could even go way higher for a very special edition. I'll try to explain why : Admit you have some saving on an account : => You keep there : your are loosing money (Interest rates < living cost increase), your are taking risks (bank losing your money or closing, amount not fully garanted, heavy taxes to deal with the recession) => You invest it in a company : it's very risky du to the recession => You invest in real estate : there are some good deals, like London where the prices are still rising. But it's a big investment and people are loosing money on real estate. Note that you need alot of money to invest in real estate. => You invest in gold : prices are high and will probably go down a day or an other because alot of people have both gold Other possibility : => You invest in collector items : Paintings, sculptures, cars, jewels, watchs, toys etc ... It's not a 100% safe placement, I agree, but you have something in you hands (or an you wall, or in your garage). You buy a sports car, well, you can drive it. If it looses its value, well, you had fun with it ! That Picasso you both, you can admire it every day. That Lego set, it's still there to build and rebuild and it will still be there when you have children. Buying Lego is a raisonnable choice. It's probably as safe as any other placement. The entry ticket is low. You have your set to admire or to play with. If you are an AFOL, and if you can afford it there is not much of a raison not to buy a super collector set. Car manufactures understud this : Aston Martin One-77, Lamborghini Venon, Bugatti Veyon special editions, all sold in minutes. Jewelery and watchs sellers did understand that a long time ago. Fashion designers did too. A giant Venator MOC was even sold for thousands of dollars (more than $30000 if I am not mistaking) So I believe that TLG could produce a super collector set at more than 750 euros and yet sell it very well, probably in a day.
  12. True
  13. Some people already have visuals on the next UCS. They just don't want to spoil the surprise. :D
  14. Dreaming of what will be the futur sets is part the AFOLs pleasures !
  15. Thanks for your welcoming messages !
  16. Hello everyone, Some good news; after they cut all my services (phone, internet, TV), they finally realized they made an error. Calling them was useful after all !The Lego Shop's phone number seems to be free passing through Free ADSL. I wont check, however . Thanks for your messages ! Best regards, SamLR
  17. /!\ THIS DOES NOT CONCERN LEGO SHOP IT SELF /!\ Phone numbers starting by "00 800 xxxx xxxx" can be very heavily charged by you operator. Here the story : Two weeks ago, I broke a part from my SSD 10221 not available directly on the official shop. I also wanted to get the 5001709 Clone Trooper. I called the "00 800 xxxx xxxx " official shop number and passed an order. First call; 4m 38s waited, then I had to hang up for personal reasons. Second call : 20m 02s, waited, than passed the order and payed. This morning, I received a special bill from Free ADSL, my operator for these two calls : 147,55 € (about $160). About 6 € per minutes "00 800 xxxx xxxx" numbers are normaly International Freephone Numbers. I've never paid calling those before on other phones. But the result is here : I've just payed my 10 cents, 1x1 modified dark stone gray plate for almost 150 € Calling Free ADLS after sales service didn't bring anything for the moment. So I wrote to them and am waiting ... I'll keep you all informed. By than, have fun and watch your bills ! SamLR
