  1. Series 6 is already out in the uk and Scotland? THAT IS NOT FAIR!!! I live in the States and we haven't even gotten series 5 yet! I could understand ya'll getting 6 if series 5 had been out a little while in the states but it hasn't! Except for the fact that the sets have good parts, are cheap, add animals to my collection that isn't' yet another fish or dog or something like that, and look good in my display cabinet; i'd be finding another collectable to pursue instead of the animals since i'm getting fed up with constant waiting.
  2. You kidding? Give me half a shot to by a set sans figures and it costs less then it would with figures and i'd be all over that! I have a ton of figures(577 PLUS spare parts) and outside of chima figures, creator figs, and TLM figs, there really aren't any figures that i need from modern sets. Pretty much. I still am finding those little miner quads that have been around for probably closer to a year plus, the SW set with the black wings with blue parts that have been around for months, i'm still finding that GS walker thingy, and the Lego chima flyer set been sitting around for at least a half year now, and it's only been within the last few months that i started seeing some new sets(latest police chopper, batman vehicle, and some white SW thingy). *looks at added post.* No i don't really count a 10 dollar set as impulse buy material in my book. At 5 or 6 bucks for impulse buy priced sets, that's one of those things that i can spring for w/o too much thought if i can actually find a decent buy these days. Problem is that i only tend to have maybe 7 or 8 bucks hanging around in the impulse fund thanks to a clone brand hobby, minor book hobby, and video game hobby on top of the lego hobby so i'm stretched thin over here and on top of that, at 10 bucks(if i have the money for it), i have to start thinking a lot more carefully about my set choice. And on top of that, even if i'd count a 10 dollar set as impulse, i'm about out of options on that front also. I only got one animal chima set that i discovered i wasn't impressed with so that's it for me unless i need something to add to my xmas wish list, lego friends i'm only thinking about the cabin, and there isn't anything im' really interested in in the SW front.
  3. HUGE problem with the polybag mention though. Those things, unlike most lego sets, are a major pain in the rear for some people to track down. Walmarts where i live almost never get polys and other stores are a hit or miss to the max. Not counting lego mixels, minifigures, or friends animals which are a gray area on if they are polys or not heres how it breaks down around where i am: One has some friends picnic sets that have been stuffed in an endcap for MONTHS, one has 3 sets on clips in the lego aisle that have been there for MONTHS(Friends picnic, the pump car TLR, and some SW set), Target CO lanes stay the same for MONTHS w/o no rotation, and TRU is getting to as bad around here. About all they really have lately are the Geoffrey giraffe thing, the rocking horse, turkey, and witch from last year, and maybe a couple of random pickings on the rare occasion.
  4. My current options are either to have a rolling cart and some boxes and either use the kitchen table, one of the drawers or the top of the cart, or I can use a folding tray or a square table in my room to build on. Bedroom's small(only a little over 130 sq ft not including the closet when is used to hold random stuff), no room for a desk since the empty that once existed for a desk is now taking by a bookshelf. Honestly except for the fact that knowing my luck the moment i'd get rid of it, i'd wind up needing it, i'd get rid of the bed and putting a desk there instead. i prefer to camp out in the living room due to the dvr being in there and i've only used my bed like 5 times this year.
  5. technic is one of those things that it sometimes takes a few tries to find the right method. I'm currently storing my technic parts in baskets in pull out drawers. I have bricks and plates mostly sorted by size, axles and pins in another container, bricks with technic pins in another, gears/connectors, misc, liftarms/beams, par assemblies/misc/2 brick seperators, and a small basket with the start of my short and long wings. whenever i take parts out and put them in a smaller container to build with, i try and stick with the same method. My collection isn't huge but it used to all fit in 2 of large stack on drawers with room to spare!
  6. Would be nice but it's just not in the budget. I have a lego hobby, a clone brand brick hobby(the big 3 brands, MB, ionix, and kreo), an occasional book buy hobby (mostly been second hand store buys lately), and a video game hobby. I do have 4 small sets on the side but those are more of an "i'm not ready to open them" position then a stockpile on purpose. I have 2 5 buck creator sets, a small lego skate set that i got via a trade, and a series 1 planet i won in a youtube giveaway.
  7. omg! Where did you find the series 3 mixels?
  8. not just a sequel. I saw an article online yesterday about there being a date for the sequel, then TWO marked dates for unnamed lego movies. One is presumed to be the ninjago movie that's rumored to be in the works and the other some predict might be a lego movie pt 3.
  9. Agreed. WM clearances are far and few between around here lately. Either the sets are stuck in the clearance aisle for ages waiting for the price to eventually be dropped down or sold or sent back. Target is very few and far between as far as good sales go and when they do have clearance it's either gone b4 I get there or it's something i'm not interested in.
  10. unbelievable! Only lego sets I am sure I want are the Series 5 animals.
  11. has anyone had any luck tracking down the wave 5 animals in the states? I'm starting to get pretty upset over here. It was 6 months between waves 3 and 4 and is 5 months and counting between 4 and 5. That is way too long for series that are only 3 packs big.
  12. 7 minutes into the lego movie? yes. 7 minutes into other movies? no.
  13. Honestly i hate the movie also. Not just the end but the whole thing. Look, i get that they were probably trying to go for a "kids movie" angle but couldn't they have done it w/o trying to protray AFOLS as being jerks obsessed with their collection? It's plastic bricks that are meant to be taking apart not one time snap together models! the guy was acting like the kid was messing with something that couldn't be fixed!!! And i'd love to know who's bright idea was it to do the movie with the plot twist that insults AFOLS who are probably the only reason lego's not going under again! I should of taken the fact that i was getting bored by the time emmet encountered wyldstyle for the first time as a warning of what was to come. Fast forward throughout the movie and i got more and more bored by the minute. There was only a light sprinkling of slightly funny stuff, mostly moments i saw on youtube for FREE b4 i saw the movie. Fast forward to the big reveal of it all being made up by an 8 year old boy. At that point i was point blank FURIOUS at the reveal plus the lack of a decent plot and would of left if it wouldn't be for the fact that A) i don't drive yet and B) mom probably wouldn't of wanted to leave. Plus i was questioning why was i an almost completely dedicated lego fan. Was as in the big 3 in the clone world are getting more of my attention now then b4. I think the only thing thats keeping me from thinking about switching sides completely is that about the only thing they got right in the movie was having morgan freeman do the voice of vitruvius and I really love M.F.'s performance in Bruce almighty. I'd like to point out one more thing though: Yes i'll plead guilty to having 5 TLM sets in my lego collection but none had anything to do with the movie itself but instead for other reasons. I have 3 of the 2-in-1 vehicle sets b/c i love wacky creations with lego. 1 CCC set due to the really neat parts and the wacky factor and 1 melting room since there's some parts in it that i like. It's assembled but once i find a need for the parts, that set is hitting the scrap pile. Future buy plans? Unless i can catch the lair with vitruvius in it on sale for at least 30 percent off or he's released in a 2015 set or if i can get the Flying flusher on sale(at least 20% off) to complete my 2-in-1 collection, i'm not foreseeing any TLM buying in the future.
  14. I can live with the make up but not the curved torsos. There's been many a delightful, could of been a perfectly good for a male also, torso destroyed by curved prints.
  15. Uhh.... you mean the lego MMO that funcom is doing? It's been in open beta for at least 3 weeks now.
  16. Depends on the brand. I'm mostly getting a lot of interest with mega bloks, kreo, and ionix stuff. One reason im getting into the clones a lot more is the quality is really good and the prices are fair while lego prices are going up and up and up and quality is sinking. I'm not going to abandon lego since they have the stores(but if mega bloks make a store in louisiana, all bets are off on that factor), the lego friends stuff, and some cool parts but they'll be getting less of my money. Plus the themes the clones are doing are really really cool and thinking outside of the box while lego seems to be getting into a pretty big rut. I mean seriously look at mega blox. they are doing really cool spongebob stuff that actually looks good and the prices are epic! according to the website, the KK set with something like 407 parts is 30 bucks when a 2XX piece Lego KK was the same price. Theres a really cool invisible boatmobile and planktons truck set that's 20 bucks and 3XX parts that'd certainly be a lot more expensive going through lego And there's another big factor on why i'm getting into the clones: The lego movie. Between the horrible plot twist, lack of humor, and to much focus on animation with not enough on a decent plot, i am embarrassed to be a lego fan, even in a non purist sense.
  17. According to one person I was talking to, QC has been slipping for at least a few years now. I've definatly noticed and heard of more issues of post assembly cracking bricks happening. Like about 3 months ago, I picked up a friends lemonade stand. I assembled it then a short time later put it in a plastic trading card holder box, the ones advertised as being able to hold upwards of 1100 cards, that i got. Well, recently i went back into the box to add in 2 little jet ski things i got from a couple polybags and check the ziploc that holds the lemons/limes, helmet, and the juicer to make sure there weren't any spare parts that needed to be saved. I discovered that the juicer that was only assembled once has a crack up one of the flat sides! i just submitted the report to lego for a replacement. I also have a second stand i got, but haven't opened yet, for the parts. I am now really worried that that set will contain another damaged part.‭ I really hate this. one of the reasons i used to be a lego purist is for the high quality of the parts but now that's really not the case anymore since lego quality is down yet prices are either up and/or part padding happening a lot more but some of the clone brands are climbing higher and higher while maintaining fair prices and part sizes
  18. that's something that lego needs to be contacted about. I had the same problem with the clam in my lego series 1 friends turtle set so I had to get a replacement.
  19. I'm planning on grabbing one random unless there's one that I really like then i'll go specific and that's it for me. I have at least 1 each of series 1 - 11 so i'd like to maintain that trend.
  20. Does anyone know when the series 5 animals are supposed to be released in the states? I really want them since I started collecting these instead of the CMF line and I really want to get it.
  21. I can't lie, I used to think of lego as an almost separate class in the plastic brick building world, but they are fading into the crowd. Not all plastic brick building catagories, but the really good bricks like kreo and megabloks. However, i am noticing a major weakness in lego. the other companies are starting to really step up their game set wise especially mega bloks doing those kapow figures and really good looking spongebob coming later on in the year and the price versus piece count is decent and there aren't a ton of itty bitty parts to pad the count. On the other hand, things seem to be stalling on the lego side as far as set variety goes and the prices are creeping up and up to unfair levels and more and more of the itty bittys are sneaking it. Like the agents set, the little one with 2 minifigures, atv/boat thing, 2 little containers with a part or 2 each, and thats it. It's 12 bucks when it should be closer to 8, maybe 9, dollars. I could understand if the set had really big pieces and/or really rare or new parts but this set has neither. And that tiny police set with 2 minifigures, the motorcycle, and the "wall" that's 7 bucks, that should be closer to 5, maybe 6. Plus lego used to have little impulse buy sets for 8 bucks or less but now that doesn't really exisit that much anymore. The only things that fit in that catagory that are easily found in stores that I've seen or heard of (polybags DO NOT count in my book since they tend to be MAJOR league YMMV cases) are the creator 5 buck things, a couple city sets, the friend animals mixels, and CMF's.
  22. finally got an email back. So said, the packages were shipped out from the poland warehouse that day but there was a "delay" shortly afterwards that they only "recently" learned about and that the packages should start moving "shortly". and they gave me a $15 credit on my VIP for my troubles. I have no plans of using the online PAB again but i will use the main online store since the buys that i want to make during the summer will be less of a hassle to buy online then playing the waiting game for the walmarts to eventually get the sets in.
  23. I'm due for a lot of dental work(imagine roughly 14 extractions, including a few that'll probably be surgical in nature, 3 fillings, and i'm getting upper and lower partials and i'm only 25! Curse of the genetics.) and learned recently it'll be monday morning. Earlier in the month(on the 3rd) I set up a lego shop order for supplies to keep me busy. And shortly after that, part 1 of the order(the non-pick a brick stuff) got shipped out and arrived and on the 8th, the PAB stuff was shown as picked in strycow. Here's my problem: There is NO data past that showing up. I tried emailing lego a little over a half a week ago and my concerns got blown off since it "takes time to get overseas" and i tried emailing them 2 days ago with no response and emailed them again today. Look, i get it takes time for this stuff to get to the united states but i know from past PAB orders that some level of shipping outside of the strycow message WOULD be available. then on the 20th i placed a second order(just the main shop) for 2 extra friend turtle bags, an easter bunny, and got my hands on 2 free polys(rapunzel and friends bakery). Guess what? That order just arrived about 20 minutes ago and STILL no new tracking data for the PAB stuff! I could understand it not being here yet since it does take time, but what i refuse to understand is why is it 16 days after shown as being picked up in strykow, there no new tracking data!
  24. the difference, besides the themes they have, unique parts, and the figures they use, isn't that much. judging by what I've heard, MB's used to be of a poor quality but the thing is that now they are REALLY stepping up their game so they are bound to be major competition soon if they keep going at this rate. honestly, i used to be brand loyal but now i'm not. Sry lego purists but Mega bloks has spongebob sets coming that actually look really good plus the rock em sock em robots type thing and ionix has pokemon and i really want the eevee set since that's one of my favorite pokemon.
