Very nice vehicles, I prefer 4-wide for cars & vans, to me these are "more Lego" as they were like that when I was kid

It is already tempting to start a second one after filling a first cup, so to me filling only a small one would be frustrating :D By the way, in France if you re-use the cup that you used last time it is 0.75 € cheaper, is there also a "recycle" bonus like that in other countries' stores?

Like other comments, nice info and article :) I haven't yet read all (just read quickly), and I wonder if the graphs for Europe would be the same, as Lego prices do not really reflect the exchange rates changes.

I was not expecting to be able to make a new visit to a Lego store so quickly after my visit to Lille (France) two weeks ago, but yesterday+today I was with work colleagues in Paris. I had two "free" hours this morning. I saw on the map that hour hotel was only 3 km away from the Lego store in Levallois... so I did a walk as I had time (and then I could also save two times 2 € of bus ticket, some sport is always good) The pick-a-brick wall from Paris/Levallois store was more interesting than the one from Lille two weeks ago. So I got a nice collection of tiles: 1x8 white, 1x2 lime green, 1x4 reddish brown, a few glasses (if I ever find windows) 1x1 trans-yellow plates, yellow jumper plates jaunes, flower petals (I knew I should have taken the flower "supports" in Lille...) and a few other things

Nice :) It replaces well the original car. I am curious to see the next improvements.

There is one in the set 7905: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=7905-1 I also really liked the Pet Shop, nice interior, and fun to build

Indeed I was thinking to that one. But I'll first try to make something working with the 12V light brick (as I can connect that on to my motor) Maybe I could use http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2919

It is a bogie shared between two cars (usually you have one at each end of a car), here there is one "between" each car http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8062/8182190081_2c19ba3c6e_c.jpg -> the one between the two passengers cars If you put two sets back-to-back, in the middle you see that each car has its own instead of sharing one: http://www.alegoaday.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/8036249115_2ef9944690_h.jpg

Great scene, well done !

Otherwise it is too long? I'll probably buy that one then. Replaced by a Lego-part flag that I found better looking than a brick-built one: http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/68992/1335974042m_SPLASH.jpg

That's also the problem I had when editing the video: instead of only taking the parts were the train was well visible, I took all the parts where the cat was playing around :D
-
It would be a little expensive just for the lights... But if the PF light can be put on the old 9V battery pack used in the 90s (the one where you put a single 9V battery in the box) it might be worth buying the lights alone.
-
I just replaced the front bogie by the 12V engine, no other change required :) (same for the last bogie of the trailing car) As far as I know the motors have the same size. The wheels are a little wider so you can't put the "decoration" on it - not a big problem. For lightning it may be a little more difficult, as the light of the 12v brick has to be diverted to headlights (and the only prism made for 12v is a 1x6, not a 1x4). I'll try that later. I didn't test the Horizon Express in the switch points. It was the Maersk locomotive that had problems on it; the container wagons however seemed to pass more easily, but their wheels were closer. So the jacobs bogies may have the same problem as the Maersk locomotive...

It seemed an obvious fact to me: this set cannot be bought alone, you need at least two :D
-
I dig up my old topic, I hope it is not a problem. I just made a video of Maersk train + Horizon Express running on 12V track, and it ended up as a cat-video as one of my two cars seemed very interested:
-
And here is the video: The Horizon Express is seen after 1m36, before that it is the Maersk train. We previously saw a video of a Maersk train crashing into a monorail, here is one crashing into a cat You see that I made a bigger track than what is used, but I didn't use the part beyond the switch points (except for parking the Maersk train in the second part) because the RC train wheels do not pass the 12V switches easily.

I was also hoping that the new firetruck could fit in the brigade. As I also remade one myself: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=69213 (and replaced the flag too). Anyway since 60002 does not fit, maybe that the 60003 would work? http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=60003-1 If someone has it, it would be nice to know its exact height in "brick" units :D

I did a "quick" test this afternoon. Unfortunately I do not have space for a permanent layout, so when I want to run a train I have to rebuild a whole track just for the test. Here is already a photo, the video will come in the next days: Luckily I had two motors: one was not enough :D

Ever found a piece that doesn't belong in a set?
antp replied to Sir Walter Maugham's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I got two sheets of stickers with one of my Horizon Express sets, so I have three sheets of stickers for two sets -
I finished mine :) (2 sets, with the jacobs bogie between the two) I'll try to make it run in 12V as soon as I have some time
-
Nice conversion. I planned to do that too, some day, when I'll have time :D
-
Nice story :)
-
Indeed, they seemed much easier to fill than the usual cups. Well done :)

Yes. I still remember a sale on the Green Grocer at 100 € or something like that... I already had it, but why didn't I pick a second one back then ?

Finally I could discover the fun of filling these PAB Cups! With the store recently opened in Lille (France), it is a little than one hour away by car from Brussels, not too much. It was worth going there to buy the two Horizon Express at 100 € a piece rather than 110 € on the Belgian version of the online Shop. What's beside the cup was in it, but it opened in the bag in the trunk of the car :D My sister and her husband helped to put together parts to reduce the used space: it is funny to do. It is worth filling a cup just for the fun of trying to put a maximum in it. Other people which were there were just puting parts in the cups without method, except another one who was also stacking them. In bottom right of the cup there is an empty space that I could not fill afterwards with small parts... I didn't empty and restart just for that. Next time I'll do better. As I have read on a French forum, the parts selection in that shop is not so good. I hope it will improve in the next months. For example there were motorbike wheels, that seems quite useless since not useable alone. Also car wheel holders, but without the related wheels... I took 2x4 bricks in medium blue, dark bluish grey et dark red (I should have taken more dark red and less of the two others) blue & light bluish gray 2x4 slopes, 1x2 orange & tan, red hinges, brown seats, white brackets, 1x1 trans-green plates, turquoise-like rounds, trans-orange slopes. And a few more things.
