Hi Wodanis, the building with everything on it is absolutely a great wannahave, but... ...looking at your pics on Lego ideas, i was thinking about the windows on the side. If you connect another modular on either side, then a window is pretty pointless don't you think? :p Cheers, JJ

I'd say a large pig hair brush (spalter in dutch) and a soft cotton cloth to clean and polis the tiles. Good luck Sjaak!

When i did mine years ago i really had a hard time to get them functioning properly. I couldn't nail it!

great bus! Do you have the doors working as well?

Can i just mention, great photography there!

I can't wrap my brain around this one either. Ever since i've been around with Lego bricks there have been sets including animals, up until serious farm sets. I could easily picture a zoo series starting with small sets getting bigger and a very tempting to get big set on top! I would love to see just the ( newly designed? ) baseplates. Hmmm...

Looks like a part of Tower Bridge.

MOC: Service with a Smile - modular gas station
Jasper Joppe Geers replied to L@go's topic in LEGO Town
If you ask me, this Moc would be very plausible as an UCS set. In some cases we've had sets like Tower Bridge and Taj Mahal etc... All kinds of huge buildings with extensive instructions, so... ever heard of Cuusoo?... Cheers, JJ.- 50 replies

Perhaps you should put something on top of the roof. Make sure you use the studs on top in any way. :)

Wonderful work TKB! I really like the gray! You certainly have you're own style, i like that. Looking forward to see the interior work later on, both in this one and the coffee bar.

Hi Aanchir, Many thanks to you and the others for the replies, i'm really grateful. I was also rewarded a personal message from Jamie, which only shows how kind a guy he is. He doesn't usually visit our forum that often, and to respond to a particular messsage is very, very kind. The fact that he went so far to take the trouble of posting his feathered version of the Green Grocer makes me blush on the cheeks, and I never wanted to take this duscussion so far. My initial response to this set was and still is a very positive one! I really envy Jamie's work, and can only hope that one day i'll make it at the designers team. haha. The use of the feather technique felt first to me like a compliment. The whole discussion if this was his or mine idea first is a rediculous one, and not constructive. I'm only sorry that my feelings about the feather technique was understood as some sort of disappointment and frustration, I was just in two ways about it. I know now that this idea spent some time on his desk being unused, even before i created my Police station Moc, and i simply can not know what ideas he has on his desk anyway. He's very good in keeping secrets! In my mind, the use of someone else ideas is a great compliment and recognition, and that is how it should be. I think i have my lesson learned now, and i'm very grateful for that. And, i think at this point Rick would perhaps say: Back on topic now please! Cheers, JJ.

Hi Jamie, And many thanks for this very kind reply. It clarifies many of my questions and incertanties in one go! Best Wishes, JJ.

I don't think so. In that case the pictures would be seriously photoshopped. Maybe it's a new type of brick, only just released?...

Looks like a two stud wide version of this one: http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=11477

The Seagull is just hidden in the bin behind the building. It is very shy and didn't wan't to appear in the picture. ;)

Good point Alois, i don't feel wronged about this, but like you said, i don't know how to feel happy about it either. Let's leave it, and again, forgive me for bringing this up. Cheers, JJ

Ok, a lovely set i must say, really wonderful to look at and a great joy to build but... forgive me for bringing this up, but this set really makes me think whether Jamie created this by himself, or with (a lot of) inspiration from the AFOL community. When i look at those gray feathers close to the roof, it looks very similar to the ones in my police station Moc a few years ago (check Muntstraat Police HQ if you like) It feels a bit like he used my idea, which should be some sort of compiment i suppose?...

As i said in aonther topic (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=85264) the idea of a modular airport seems to me wonderful and possible. I don't think you can ever match a realistic scale (e.g.) on a landing strip, but the modular houses are not always in a proper scale either. If only there would be road plates with an airstrip print on it... everything on a 32 x 32 baseplate basis perhaps. The control tower and hangar could be 1 baseplate each, passenger hall 1 or 2... hey, just my two cents! :)
-
@ Gabor: Think a bit like Simcity if you like. An airport is a bit more to me than just a landing strip and a hall. The way i see it is a basic set with a tower, hall and strip, that you could expand as you wish. Just like road plates there could be parts to create a smaller or bigger strip, all on a 32 x 32 basis. I don't think TLC would ever consider it as serious, but i think it could work. :)

Makes me think.. wouldn't it be great to have a modular airport? just like we have the houses so far?... Hmmm.
