Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Jasper Joppe Geers replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
you might say that, but if done and designed well, the idea of a gas station with car park on top could be great! Although a 32 x 48 footprint seems nescessary to me to work for a drive through gas station. -

A petrol station has always been part of Lego city, zo i can't see why not. Perhaps the designer should include a charging station. -

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

As far as i know the rerelease of GG was an april fools hoax some years ago that seems to come up from time to time. I wouldn't mind that though, but let TLC re introduce the Cafe Corner first. I think those sets from the early modular days should be available to anyone who likes them, without a collector market get in the way of that. On the other hand, a rerelease shouldn't get in the way of introducing a new set, whatever it'll be. I've done enough guessing and betting on that one, and lost waaay too much money. -

What about the Atomium in Brussels? That certainly would be an interesting build to me. -

But when you're creating modulars yourself, one has to agree that the interior is usually a lot more of a challenge. Just to make everything fit and work in the interior is quite harder than created a nice facade. Just my two cents. -

Which is quite a compliment i think. Even in real architecture you'll find that strange, unexpected and out of the box ideas spark controversy and discussion. So therefore well done i'd say! -

A museum would be great i think. Lets have a list of options so far: - Museum - Hotel - Post Office - Gas Station - Library - Gaming Arcade - Police Station - Hospital - Pizzeria - School - Flower Shop - DIY Store - Vet - Pharmacy Plenty to choose from if you ask me.. Any other suggestions? -

I don't think a post office will do anymore. It seems to be something of a bygone age nowadays. It's a bit of the same thing with a copy print shop i used to go to in the late 90ties. I loved thos places with their huge print copymachines, paper cutters etc. They don't really exist anymore do they? On the other hand, i don't see why a mobile phone store would be appealing... Perhaps a gaming or bowling arcade might work, or a gym/fitness centre?... Is a library still an option? -

It did have the sign indeed, but not the interior. If one thing has changed over te years in modular terms it is the fact that the interior has become more important. Just as important as the facade i'd say. For me it should be the reason to re release the Cafe Corner, just to provide an interior if possible. -

Shouldn't be a problem i think. Most of the modulars have always been a scaled down version of something that tends to be big. For example, look at the Grand Emporium, that was supposed to be a shopping centre. I think a hotel could work perfect for a modular. -

About those colours: can we please have sand red back again? If there's one functional colour that works for buildings, pavements etc. it is exactly sand red. Please? :) -

It was the general perception in those days, right after the Green Grocer to have some sort of interior in the modulars as well. From there the evolution over the years has been an interior like we wanted, but the rooftops weren't as high anymore. With the exception of Town Hall of course. -

Has anyone a picture available with all the modulars so far? I think when you put them in line you could clearly see the evolution. As far as i have them all in mind, they were a bit taller in the beginning (cafe corner, Green Grocer etc.) but had hardly ant interior in them. Over the years they weren't as high anymore, but a lot more done to the interior. Is that a fair conclusion? -

Well, i'm a bit of a Jamie afficionado, simply because he started the whole Modular idea some ten years ago. I think that's the main reason why some people get a bit extra axcited when a Jamie design is around the corner. Without any disrespect to all the other designers of course! -
