  1. I always wandered who is that person who would pay that amount of money for a set that once was just 150 Euro's or something.. I understand these sets increase in value, but this ($1200) is just for trying isn't it?
  2. Looks great! You know, these coloured facades remind me a bit of Notting Hill..
  3. Just asking: When looking at the pics i have to say something is done to the colors? I know there are orange motor cycle pieces and headlight bricks, but this way it looks TLC has introduced a new color! Great job though! JJ.
  4. Actually, this Moc reminds me of one of the Pink Panther cartoons! Ghosts4all! Great work!
  5. To me, the color changes and issues have never been much of a problem, although i noticed the sometimes huge differences as well, like many of you. Remember the Green Grocer? Remember the old dark red bricks from the 1st star wars era? Those were the bricks with that "chinese' look so to speak. I'm not a fan of those, but soon learned how to use those as well. The use of old and new dark red in tiled floor eg can be highly useful! I just think of it as an extra challenge. Play with it, have fun with it. Cheers! JJ
  6. Well, like i said before, the windows are done by hand. That is, drawn with acryllics and ink.
  7. Well, just to let you know Fuzzybricks, the windows are no stickers.. I've done them with acryllics and paint. No stickers. ;) The motor cycles are indeed stickered. coloured foil so to say. Cheers!
  8. MAny thanks! You're all too kind!
  9. Jay! Thanks! - having fists in the air cheering -
  10. First of all, try to be happy with anything you create. It happens very often that people have something in mind they've seen somewhere, but cannot work it out in bricks satisfactually (is that a correct word?...) Anyway, i always look around when strolling the streets wherever i go, and see if any spotted detail could be done in bricks. Furthermore, look around what is happening in your street. Any street sellers, waste bins, parking lots, anything. You only have to notice it. And then build it. Cheers! JJ
  11. Many thanks! At first i did not understand what you meant by front page though...
  12. Nope, not yet. The old Muntstraat pics are getting "out of date". I'm thinking of creating some mocs for a while, and combining them into a new part of the road. I'm still keeping the other buildings though, only the restaurant is no more.
  13. Many thanks all, happy to share it! Hi Rick, Yes i did. It is all hand-crafted, and designed by my hands. I thought it would be a good thing to show a bit more of myself as graphic designer, and this way i grabbed my chance! ;)
  14. Ok, first of all: if you're not into tweaking bricks, stickering, artwork and/or other additions that initially have nothing to do with bricks, than this is the point to skip this thread. Otherwise, please take a seat and enjoy this one, i've spend all year creating it. Still i'm not really done (as with all previous mocs from me...) but so far i'm happy enough with it to share it with ya: Muntstraat Police Head Quarters. I have to point out about this one that it's not really the classic police station we now from the sets or other creations done in the past. That is, no guns, no weapons, no intelligence, nothing of that. This is the lazy police station in Happy Ville to go to if you lost your dog, or need to put the kid right who likes baseball to much and broke your window. The building The building itself is done on a 48 x 48 plate, the previous attempt from last year was on 32 x 32 and turned out too small. Like all the regular modulars, it has three floors, all tiled up, and so far two of them worked out with interior. The bottom floor plan is just by me, the second floor plan is a salute to Theo van Doesburg. On the second floor you'll see some fencing i've done with rubber strings and string. I had to practice a few times to get it right and the way i wanted it, but in the end it turned out fine. At the point of the strings' crossing i attached a gold plated 1 x 1 plate with a black round plate behind it. This way it stays in place perfectly. Above these windows (more of which i'll tell you later) there's this 'Crown' of the building. The line of feathers are attached to a 1 x 1 brick turned upside down, and is created together with the ceiling part of the second floor. This way i made it possible to add the roof top without the need of tiles. The interior When crossing the little square, you can park your bicycle on the left before entering. Just a little idea i had with these tubes. Upon entering there's this desk, for all your questions, and if you are really, realy bad, then you'll find on the right the two cell rooms, one of which has an occupant already. Mind the rats though! If you turn left, you'll see the passage to the staircase, with the coffee machine beside it, (very important to the staff!...) and turning left once more there's the hall for the motorcycle's and police car. The car still needs to be created though, instead of the motor cycle's, but i'll come to that later. Let's move upstairs to the second floor. Here we can go left first where the first offices are. most of the people work here, apart from the pick-your-nose and fart contests. On the left there's a coat stand, and after that two spaces for two people to work, computer screen included. On the other wing there's the copier, file cabinets and larger congress room. As everyone likes a healthy place to work, some plants might do a good job here. A road map is still missing here, but it is on the to-do list. Hard to picture it, but this floor has a ceiling as well. Back to the stair case. And here we are on the third floor, and it is still empty. The first idea i had was to create a shooting practice area here, but i think room is too small here. I think i'll turn it into a sort of attick, with old file cabinets and some dusty typewriters on an ancient desk... The Windows As you can see, i've done something to the windows as well. Along with the building's architecture, i created these stained glass windows in a Frank Lloyd Wright style design. It took me some work, and had first sets of windows done to the other mocs first, to get the process the way i wanted it. It's all hand crafted, that's why it took so long to get this one finished. On the outside of both staircases from floor one and two, there are no windows yet, but they are also on the list to be finished. I need to work out a design yet for these windows, but i'm not sure yet if they should follow the front windows. Perhaps something Victorian might fit here just as nice... We'll see. And then there are these Motor cycles. I had great fun to do the artwork on this, and make it look like a genuine dutch bike. It is not entirely correct though, here and there i added my own design, just like i designed my own Police logo on the ouside of the building. Overall i had great fun doing this Moc! There are much more pictures in my Flickr map, please feel free to find out about them. This Moc's set As ever, i could add much, much more to it, but in the end it hardly makes any difference, and along the way i got many more ideas for other builidings, so therefore: See you next Moc!
  15. Well, it seems to me that the Pet Shop has either two lamp posts, or the Green Grocer has one on the baseplate's edge?.. Have to look closer i think?... Edit: I see it now. -darn- Ok, punish me!!
  16. I really love these! Much more than the newly released Pet Shop! It really has the look of a London neighbourhood! Well done!
  17. Not sure about the Lamp posts on Grogall's occasion, but i think he has given them already another spot on the pavement here and there different from the instructions.. But yes Rick, these are not exactly the challenge so to speak. I think i'll wait with Pet Shop for a while though. I'm one of those with some mocs of my own and i'm happy with this new set, but not it's height. To me it really stands out, no matter the building you put it aside. If i'm going to buy it, it will be just for the parts.
  18. Well i don't think so. For many people these modular sets are expensive enough. Unless you like these buildings getting smaller and smaller?...
  19. It seems the same brick as used in the lamp posts to me.
  20. Same here! Thanks for having Google Streetview..
  21. Well, there's no doubt that the whole modular loving community has become very loyal to Jamie, and rightfully so! Did i mention i'm one of them yet?... ;) However, in the video Jamie speaks in terms of 'We' suggesting that he's not the only one working on Modular buildings. When talking to other designers and/or insiders, Jamie is still the designer who's in charge of them?...
  22. Absolutely. The thing is: How can Jamie challenge us creative wise every time? It will become more and more difficult to come up with something that really surprise us, either with building techniques, rare colors etc... And then this: how many stores would there be? He can continue for some time off course, but not everything can be created storewise i guess?...
  23. Sorry, I still don't know what to think of this... Of course it'll be a fun to build, but afterwards i'm not sure if i'll keep it this way. A lot of tweaking will be done to it! But when looking at the parts, it seems possible to create the Green Grocer in Sand Blue right? Should look great i think!
  24. Question here: The main blue color of the Pet Shop building, is that sand blue, Blue-violet, or something new?...
  25. Now that is someting i don't understand. Why would you stop creating your own Town Hall? Not just because were talking Town hall here i hope?...
