LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors
TheNerdyOne_ replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I actually really like this one, I think I might end up getting it. I've never really had a problem with studs, I think that they usually look pretty good, though this model may have benefited from at least one or two larger tiles on the wings. It seems as though this is the "landed" position for the wings, likely because the V shape would be hard to fit on the box art, so it may look more appealing once we get different, clearer, views with the wings in different positions. -
Sorry for the double post. I updated the OP with renders, including new minifigure designs that I made. My entry is final now, I don't plan on making any more changes.

Thanks! I added the LDD file to the original post. It's a tiny bit different from the version in the images, but the changes are mostly for the sake of stability. The entire top covering isn't connected at all to the rest of the ship, so you can use the Connected Selection Tool and move it aside to get a look at the interior. It's mostly empty, but I tried to implement what we've seen so far. The front portion made up of the cone pieces is also meant to be removable, so you can either just hide or move any of those pieces to get a look at the cockpit. Thank you! I definitely recommend the show. The first season takes place mostly on a single planet, but it looks like season 2 will be more about the Rebellion as a whole, which is very exciting. The first few episodes aren't great, but it really picks up near the end of the season, so it's definitely worth it.

Now known as Phoenix Home. Spoiler alert for Star Wars: Rebels! Ideas project (picture is link): After watching the Star Wars: Rebels Season 2 trailer way too many times, I decided that Commander Sato's ship is one of my favorite ships in the Star Wars universe. I always liked the Pelta-class frigate, but it just looks so much cooler with this new color scheme, and it's background makes it much more unique and iconic than the Pelta frigates of the Clone Wars. So, taking inspiration from the Pelta-class Frigate in LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, I spent a few hours every day for the past week building this ship in LDD. The A-wings can be placed into the hanger through the back, which is a one-way system. They can then be released from the front by rotating the two technic pieces on either side of the hanger (which aren't connected, unfortunately, which makes it a bit more difficult to do than I would like). Still figuring out what to do with the rest of the interior, suggestions are welcome. I also made a min Ghost to go with it, which can dock with the ship just like is seen in the show. Here's a shot of the ship from Season 2's concept art, for comparison: Any criticism is more than welcome. It certainly isn't perfect, there are a few things I would like to change already. Thanks for looking! Commander Sato's Flagship.lxf

I love this, the inspiration is immediately recognizable! It's always great seeing models based on old toys, I was very close to doing that for my entries as well. I feel like the minifugre lineup could be a bit better if you replaced two of them with a Gamorrean and a Weequay, since those are much more popular henchmen, but it looks great either way.

Thank you very much! I can confirm that it's really fun to swoosh around.Alright, final update before the IRL model. The starfighter/dropship can now carry troops, and has been generally improved.

Yuuzhan Vong Invasion Defend the galaxy from the evil Yuuzhan Vong! Load the New Republic troopers on the speeder bike and use the flick missiles to take out the invaders! This battle pack includes 4 minifigures with weapons: 2 New Republic troopers and 2 Yuuzhan Vong warriors. We haven't really seen much, EU content from LEGO, especially post-Episode IV. I feel that the Yuuzhan Vong invasion is a very important event, definitely worth representing, and it's also one of my favorite eras.

[SWBP] – Rebel Special Forces Battlepack
TheNerdyOne_ replied to Artizan's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Like others have said, the turret looks great. Definitely looks inspired by the Battlefront games. Very clever way of attaching the turret, I would have never thought of that. Though I wonder if just using regular slope pieces might look a bit smoother, the arch pieces seem to stick out a bit, though I'm not sure how that would work with the rest of the build. I also really like the minifigures, especially the heavy trooper. The rocket launcher looks really good as well. -
Thanks! I will look into giving it the ability to carry troops. I experimented with that a bit, but I couldn't get it to look right and moved on. Though there's a bit of wiggle room with the part count, I think I might be able to come up with something.

Thanks! I'm actually working on that issue right now, so it shouldn't be a problem. I'm opting for a smaller ship instead of an A-wing.EDIT: Updated.

Phoenix Squadron Battle Pack Help Phoenix Squadron battle the Empire! Use the dropship to deliver weapons, then transform it into a fighter to battle the Imperials in the sky. Use the flick-missiles to gain the upper hand in the struggle against the Empire! This battle pack includes 4 minifigures with weapons: 2 Phoenix Squadron Pilots and 2 Rebel soldiers. Didn't like how the minifigure render looked, so that will have to be an LDD screenshot. The minifigures are based on the Rebel troopers and pilots in Star Wars: Rebels. The vehicle is inspired by a Hasbro toy.

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion
TheNerdyOne_ replied to adotnamedstud's topic in LEGO Licensed
Ah, unfortunate! I suppose that there's always hope for later on. I believe that there have been talks about making Jurassic World into a trilogy, so we may at least get some more sets when/if those movies are released.- 1,412 replies

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion
TheNerdyOne_ replied to adotnamedstud's topic in LEGO Licensed
LEGO Store employees aren't really told much about future releases. Not sure how much they would know about Winter 2016, but they definitely don't know anything beyond that. Jurassic Park sets are still completely possible, especially with the Ideas set under review at the moment. LEGO is aware of the demand.- 1,412 replies

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion
TheNerdyOne_ replied to adotnamedstud's topic in LEGO Licensed
They have three other movies that they can pull from as well. I would bet on a Spinosaur if they start branching out to the other movies, and I really want to see the Brachiosaurus and Parasaurolophus that we see in the video game. I hope that they at least introduce some new Dinosaurs at some point, so far everything besides the I-Rex has been a reprint of older molds.- 1,412 replies

LEGO Dimensions Physical Brick Discussion
TheNerdyOne_ replied to Transparency for Effect's topic in LEGO Licensed
Depends on what you mean be "work." The NFC chip is in the base, so it will indeed still register on the game no matter what figure is on top, but changing the figure in the real world won't change the figure that gets scanned in for gameplay. So you can definitely switch, say, Wildstyle out and replace her with, say, Ahsoka, but the game will still think that it's Wildstyle when you try to scan it into the game.- 527 replies

LEGO Dimensions Physical Brick Discussion
TheNerdyOne_ replied to Transparency for Effect's topic in LEGO Licensed
All of the other level packs (well, the other two at least) are specifically named after the IP which they're based on. With Chell seemingly appearing on box anyway, I can't think of what else it could be referring to. Though I do wish they would make some sort of announcement before debuting these new IPs in Dimensions, surely there will be something more to go along with the Wizard of Oz and potential Portal appearance, hopefully some sets. Kind of sucks to find out like this, not knowing what else may be coming. I can certainly see LEGO trying to get some Portal sets made after the Ideas project proved how popular it could be, maybe they just wanted to do it justice by introducing new molds, which couldn't be done under the Ideas/Cuusoo label? The prices are definitely placeholders, though. The packs that we've seen so far are all priced much lower, and these will likely be more of the same, simply with different themes.- 527 replies

Really surprised I haven't seen this posted here, unless I'm just blind. Definitely getting a new Darth Maul. http://i.imgur.com/t0voQdP.jpg -
I really hope that LEGO continues these exploration-themed sets, and that we eventually get a Safari line. We could at least get Zebras out of it, and maybe they bring back the old Elephant molds as well. A new big cat mold would fit right in as well.

I guess it's true that he's not necessarily talking about Space sets, but judging from the comments he's made I think it's safe to rule out Classic Space for 2016.http://www.reddit.com/r/lego/comments/29w5q7/exo_suit_side_by_side_original_submission_vs/cip9wf0 http://www.reddit.com/r/lego/comments/29w5q7/exo_suit_side_by_side_original_submission_vs/ciqhbcc

We know that Mark Stafford is currently designing the 2016 space sets, and that they seem to be something new rather than a reboot of Classic Space or something like that. I looks to me like they know that Classic Space is popular, and will probably continue to release the occasional set, but aren't ready to commit to a complete theme. I could definitely see them doing what they did with Minecraft and releasing a few more sets in 2017, and a full line in 2018 or so. The best thing they can do at this point is try to keep the momentum going before releasing the full theme.

LEGO Minecraft (Minfigure Scale) 2014 Rumors and Discussion
TheNerdyOne_ replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The proportions of the spider are indeed off, but, as someone who's tried and failed to make minifigure-scale spiders plenty of times, this is probably the best that can be done without new molds specifically for the spider. The graphics are supposed to a be a compromise between LEGO's style and Minecraft. Pixelated prints like you suggest would probably use way too many colors. and look off compared to the simple style of the rest of the set. The only thing that I think would make the minifigures look better is use of the new short-sleeve arms, and a bit more detail on the torsos. Obsidian is done to the best of their ability, there is no black-purple color in LEGO. The 2x2 plates with a single stud seem to be a callback to my original models in the Cuusoo submission. We experimented with building the whole set out of blocks with those on top after the project was approved, but it proved to be too fragile. They're meant to give added play function, as it's quite easy to add and remove blocks to the tops. This is great for the ores, as they seem to all be attached by a single stud so that kids can easily "mine" them. Monotone tools are unfortunate, but it's something we'll have to live with. Ideally the handles would be brown, but that isn't the case so imagination must step in for now. The brick and tile is a crafting bench, the 2x2 round plate on the bottom allows it to be moved around easily. The animal pen makes perfect sense. Mob's cant jump over fences, you don't have to stack fences on top of each other to prevent that. This pen would work perfectly fine in the game. I do agree with the landscaping though, just covering up the bottom with a single brick would have done wonders for this set. It also bugs me a bit that the proportions of the blocks are all wacky. A single block should be represented by two plates and a brick. I can understand taking one of those plates off to save on parts, especially for the ores, but there are cases where a block is a single brick tall that could have easily been prevented. The plates in the Cave set also bother me. Overall, they could be better, but they aren't bad given the limitations. I'll still be buying every single one of them, simply because I helped make the first set. I'll definitely be modding them to make them more accurate to the games though. -
At this point our best hope for any sort of Classic Space sets in the near future is through Ideas sets. While very popular, I don't think the Exo Suit is enough for LEGO to justify a full Classic Space theme yet. We might see a few other sets to test the waters, like what they did with Minecraft before committing to a full theme, but I would recommend that we really try to get more Classic Space Ideas sets made.
