  1. I'm not assuming anything other than the fact that Disney is in charge of the franchise now and can bend the canon to their will. There's nothing stopping them from making a story about Mon Cala being liberated, the story of their joining the rebellion has yet to be told in canon so they can make it whatever they want. It really doesn't matter when Ackbar joined, or when Mon Cala is actually liberated, but there's no way they're providing massive fleets of retrofitted ships to the Rebellion without the Empire noticing. Alderaan was even especially careful about providing a handful of ships to the Rebellion, and even then the Empire was pretty suspicious. It's been pretty clear for a while that the title crawl has largely been ignored. Rebels has shown numerous victories that could be considered pretty major, and the title card didn't say anything about how important the victory was, just that it was the first victory at all. Nor did it specify that it was the first victory under the official Rebel Alliance, it just said "rebels." And you call me out for assuming things about Mon Cala, and then go on to assume that Rogue One will depict a major naval engagement between the Empire and the Rebellion? And not only that, but the Rebels will actually win said engagement? The victory is that the plans were stolen and transmitted to Tantive IV, I don't see any indication that the rebels actually won any battles. In fact, the Empire knowing about the transmission would indicate otherwise. And really, it doesn't matter if the rebels win or not, that's irrelevant to my point. My point is that everything that happens in Rogue One is immediately overshadowed by the events of ANH. The title card of ANH and the opening minutes of the film are all that we really need. There are a ton of other, much more interesting, stories to be told than one that we've already gotten the TL;DR version of. The Liberation of Mon Cala is just one example, there are many more. I just don't see the point of making a whole movie about this, when we were just fine not knowing the specifics, and there are other mediums to tell it (such as Rebels, which is already dealing with the discovery of the Death Star anyway). It's pretty boring if you ask me.
  2. Looking good so far! Can't wait to see the body.
  3. Ackbar may have joined the rebellion early on, but that still doesn't explain the lack of Mon Calamari ships until after the battle of Hoth. We still don't know when Mon Cala was liberated from the Empire, but I would bet that it wasn't until after Hoth. Now the liberation of Mon Cala, likely the first world to be fully liberated from the Empire (or maybe second with Ryloth), sounds like a much more interesting story than a heist film. And it would be the second really important victory against the Empire, and the one that really gets the rebellion started. I don't see how that wouldn't be "movie interesting." It was hardly the first, and the actual victory didn't really come until the Death Star was destroyed, which is something we've already seen. That's sorta my point, this film just feels like a waste. It doesn't really add anything to the overall story that isn't already in Episode IV. If they really wanted to tell the story, I think Rebels would have been a much better medium. Mostly because you can tell the whole story, rather than just the heist. With Rebels you have the build-up to the existence of the Death Star and the rebels finding out (which they're actually doing anyway regardless of Rogue One), and it also allows the Ghost crew to really contribute to the Rebellion as whole.
  4. No, I completely agree. I was hoping a trailer or two would change my mind, but so far it hasn't at all. It just seems like there are so many other, much more interesting, stories that they could have told instead.Where's my Siege of Mandalore anthology? Or if they really wanted to go OT, why not the story of the Mon Calamari/Ackbar joining the rebellion? That could be pretty cool, considering it was a pretty important moment for the movement.
  5. Trust me, plenty of people have said they dislike having a female lead. And I guarantee their rebellious personality wouldn't be nearly as big of an issue if they were male. But we should probably move that discussion to more appropriate threads. Definitely betting we'll see the Imperial tank in the trailer as a set, and the dropship-looking ship will probably be what's included in the most expensive set. Was it confirmed that there would be an AT-ST? I know a lot of people speculated as much, but I can't remember and there wasn't one in the trailer (not that that means it won't appear in the movie).
  6. I was really hoping we would at least get the helmet with Greggor. At least then they'd have the mold, and an excuse to make more.
  7. Haha, yeah it's a bit bigger than I expected. This is actually my largest shelf, so it looks like I'll just have to modify my supports so that it fits. And also be very careful not to knock it over. Thanks! Just this one is getting a physical version right now, it was pretty expensive (doesn't help that I think I ordered a bunch of extra parts on accident). But I might do one of the CR90s relatively soon though, maybe the Liberator.
  8. Thanks so much everyone! The Quasar Fire will probably take a little longer than expected, I think I made it way too long, and making changes like that is really frustrating when the model has to be split up between different files like it is, and importing anything causes crashing. But I do have an update on my old Phoenix Home model, I'm still waiting on an order or two but the physical version is nearing completion!
  9. Thanks so much for the kind words everyone, it means a lot. Another update, this time of the bridge: Unfortunately I can't provide an overall progress picture right now. LDD starts crashing upon save/importing for me at around 1,500 pieces or so. I've split this model up into modules, which will allow me to continue building, but because it crashes when I try to import I'll have to wait until the end to assemble it all (either by doing so in something like Ldraw or on a more powerful computer). If anyone has any ideas on getting around this, being able to see it all assembled would be very helpful during the building process. And if anyone has any criticism of the bridge, I would be very happy to hear it. Not sure how happy I am with it (I think the outside is good, it looks better when it's actually attached too, but I'm not sure about the interior).
  10. No, they're referring to the concept art linked on the last page.
  11. Probably safe to bet that one of the new ships will be the rebel dropship seen in concept art. http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/0/0b/Rogue_One_Concept_Art_Celebration.png/revision/latest?cb=20150424012904
  12. Prints don't really cost much money, especially if they're so similar. Plus, if it uses the same print, it's not exclusive.I think the better question is why they wasted their money designing a new print for a random Stormtrooper instead of an actual exclusive figure.
  13. Thanks everyone! Here's a WIP shot of the Quasar Fire-class Cruiser-Carrier, as well as a size comparison to Phoenix Home. Hopefully I can finish it before season 2 ends.
  14. I don't think weight would be a major issue if the model's sitting on a flat surface, or if it was given support stands connected to the hinged sections. Though I would prefer something like the last Death Star playset, just with removable panels.
  15. LEGO doesn't have that color though, so dark tan is the closest they can get. Plus, I don't see any green in Tarkin's uniform.
  16. http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/starwarsrebels/images/4/44/Tarkin-HS.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20150202194757http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/starwarsrebels/images/3/33/Transfer_Him_From_Lothal_to_Another_Location.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20151207014402 http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/starwarsrebels/images/0/07/Tarkin_2.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20151115190939 It's not the lighting, his uniform is dark tan no matter the location.
  17. http://vignette4.wik...=20150203174755Looks like dark tan to me, he wears a dark tan uniform for the entirety of his appearance in Rebels. It's not exactly the same color as LEGO's dark tan, but it's as close as they can get. Dark grey would be just as inaccurate. And the hair on the top of his head is dark grey.
  18. Black is definitely the right color choice, but she is in serious need of arm printing.
  19. No, the uniform is noticeably brown on the Star Destroyer as well. It's somewhere in between LEGO's dark grey and dark tan, so either of those are technically accurate. They probably went with dark tan because we've already had a bunch of dark grey officers in the past.
  20. Updated fleet: And the Taylander shuttles that the Rebels use:
  21. Thank you! I'll probably do another fleet shot in a few hours.
  22. Thanks! After a lot of struggling, I finished the new Hammerhead Corvettes from Rebels. More pictures on my Flickr: https://www.flickr.c...os/koalaexpert/ LDD File
  23. I personally like the green color scheme the most, but that's just me.As far as it's accuracy, the width is actually perfect for minifigure-scale, same for the length. I think the engines make it look a bit wider than it should be, as they stick out way too far (seemingly to make room for the firing action), but the actual dimensions are perfect. An regarding the fins, the angle they're at in the displays is actually pretty close to the angle in Rebels. It might be a bit too extreme, but luckily it looks like the actual model allows for them to be given a more accurate angle.
