  1. The Alien Moon Stalker is probably the weakest of the bunch in my opinion, but then again I wasn't a huge fan of the original design. I think I'll try to modify it to give it more of an AT-AT look I'm glad you like it! Here's the LDD files for all 3, in case someone wants the others: http://www.mediafire.com/download/b9bdtvicxyspkrm/LL_924_Refit.lxf http://www.mediafire.com/download/d99h84peln6crce/Alien_Moon_Stalker_Refit.lxf http://www.mediafire.com/download/bl3jmqfcje9hreb/Strategic_Pursuer_Refit.lxf
  2. I often find it fun to try and recreate older space sets as if they were being released today, so I plan on using this thread to show off any set reimaginings that I might create, starting with a few that I already have done: Alien Moon Stalker Refit More pictures: http://i.imgur.com/1n8B3Eq.png http://i.imgur.com/16eYoQo.png http://i.imgur.com/pMZECVi.png http://i.imgur.com/YPBP3Dn.png LL924 Transporter Refit More pictures: And as a bonus, here's the Strategic Pursuer Refit from Futuron: Criticism is always welcome. There's definitely some room for improvement!
  3. http://club.lego.com/en-us/insidescoop/tlm-designer-interview-part-1/pg-2 Here's the article with the scrapped sets.
  4. Remember that the announcement that KreO had the Jurassic World licence was before the movie was delayed, the sets were going to be released Summer 2014. It's possible that things have changed since then, and LEGO ended up with the license. Like others have said, I find it unlikely that Chris Pratt mistook KreO for LEGO.
  5. In light of this, can we finally get this thread moved to the Licensed Theme forum? Also:
  6. Just judging by Mar Stafford's comments on reddit, things aren't looking well for a reboot in the near future: http://www.reddit.com/r/lego/comments/29w5q7/exo_suit_side_by_side_original_submission_vs/cip9wf0 http://www.reddit.com/r/lego/comments/29w5q7/exo_suit_side_by_side_original_submission_vs/ciqhbcc
  7. Another related quote from Mark on reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/lego/comments/29w5q7/exo_suit_side_by_side_original_submission_vs/ciqi01c
  8. The plan right now is for a single production run, just like all the other Cuusoo/Ideas sets. If it sells well, they'll most likely have a second production run. Also, that's not why the designer was limited on colors, that's due to the fact that each line of sets only gets a certain number of color changes and Ideas sets were already pushing the limit with BttF and Ghostbusters.
  9. As far as kids are concerned, it's an awesome mech with green Bennies, what's not to love? Even disregarding any mass appeal it might have, Classic Space is so loved among the older (and even some of the younger) builders that these things will fly off the shelves.
  10. That was their prior role. Just because they only found the mechs in the video doesn't mean that they can't be experience in mech piloting.
  11. Actually, the Mark actually talked about the colors and what they mean on reddit: http://www.reddit.co...sion_vs/cip86pq So Green isn't salvage crew, they're just there to pilot the mechs!
  12. With this in mind, Green might mean something along the lines of salvage operations. Though they just found the Exo Suits sitting in the base, so their color doesn't really indicate the purpose of the Exo Suit.
  13. I think the wheels are too big, but I can't find the smaller version in LDD (same with the hoses). I'll make the other changes though, the pieces that I don't have accounted for probably go inside the arms or in the torso, as there are no good shots of those. Thanks for the tips!
  14. How accurate does this one look? Meets the part count exactly.
  15. Loving the design! Very cool to see green space men as well! I recreated it in LDD based off of the teaser (excluding some parts that aren't in LDD or that didn't want to connect like they should) if anyone wants to take a more detailed look at it: http://www.mediafire...ec/Exo_Suit.lxf Though I seem to be around 15 pieces short, not really sure what happened there. The designer appears to be answering questions about the set on their reddit account, here's what they had to say about the barrel:
  16. It's a good way to keep the piece part down while also providing some color variation, yes. It's not a bad representation of the arms on the original either.I feel like I should explain something about how the pricing of Cuusoo sets is decided (it's changed a bit with the new Ideas upgrade). At least with the Minecraft project, they calculated the average price that people were willing to pay for the set and it was designed around that. The rumor is that the price is $35 (which seems to be a popular price for Cuusoo sets, probably why the new system for deciding price was implemented into Ideas, as it allows more freedom in that regard). So they most likely had to develop a version of the Exo Suit that would cost $35, which doesn't allow for nearly the same level of detail as the original.
  17. It was pretty obvious from the beginning that LEGO would be reworking this one quite a bit, given the illegal connections and huge part count. Just like how it was obvious the hood on the DeLeorean would get a bit of a rework from the fact that the project had to glue stuff to the hood when necessary. And keep in mind that this isn't necessarily just for AFOLs. Sure, that is the community that got the project up there, and definitely the community that they have in mind most, but it's not the only community that will buy such a thing. When designing it set like this, especially with the recent surge in Classic Space popularity due to the LEGO Movie, you want to make it something that's interesting for all ages. With Ideas, generally you're voting for the idea and not the model itself. The model is just there to make you interested and want to vote for the set, it's only actually used as the set (with some minor changes) in very special cases.
  18. I never expected it to stay completely LBG, that's just not how LEGO does things. It has to have a bit of color variation, even if it is just different shades of grey. I think it looks great so far, I can't wait to see the full design! This also confirms we're getting multiple minifigures, which hopefully means they're each in a different colored outfit.
  19. I think it's a bit of a stretch to say the minifigs will definitely be green. It seems much more likely to me that they'll stick to the original colors as a throwback, though it's possible they could use this opportunity to introduce a new one. But if we get multiple, I'm betting on each having a different color.
  20. I was a huge fan of the old MTT, but I honestly think I prefer this one.
  21. I'm really liking the look of these so far, quite different from the usual LEGO set, and in a good way. I think they'll be a big hit among Minecraft fans wanting minifigure-scale sets. I just hope they fill in those holes in the bases. Can't wait to see the final products!
  22. If you like the model, please be sure to support it on LEGO Ideas: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/63890 This is my version of Meta Ridley from the Metroid franchise. He's fully posable thanks to the new ball joint parts! Other than that there's not a whole lot to say about him, so I'll let the pictures do the talking. This is Samus, the franchise's main protagonist and arch nemesis of Ridley.
  23. I agree that it will probably lead to higher quality projects, but I think they should allow us to edit old project that were brought over from Cuusoo, especially because they changed a few guidelines and are now asking people to not put things like explanations of what Ideas is or links to other projects in their project. Those that already had those from Cuusoo are now stuck with them, and the vast majority use the word Cuusoo rather than Ideas, which could lead to quite a bit of confusion. I'm fine with not being able to edit new projects, if you plan it right updates rather than edits can work to your advantage, it's just the old projects that are frustrating. As far as I know someone changing their project like that after gaining a ton of support only happened once or twice due to the licence not being available or something similar, and the Cuusoo team shut the project down and told them to restart.
