    Wow, this has become a unique ship. Very original design. Haven't seen many (none?) Lego MOC ships that look like your ship. The sails and rigging are just great (like the rest of the ship)!

  4. After taking a good long look at the pictures, here are my comments: I like this ship, its better than the average! Especially the mast are good (good length) and it has some good rigging. The color scheme (red, grey, blue, white, black) could be better. There are a bit too many colors. The ship has 7 hull-mid-sections (which I like) BUT the width is not expanded (by using invert slopes). As a result the ship is too narrow compared to the length and height! The builder should at least have used 3 rows of inverted slopes on each side. There are again no pictures of the inside, except for the stern castle |-/

  6. I was saving my comments for Sirius for tomorrow Mr. Phes. Might I suggest to bring the description of the "Sirius"-topic in line with the description of the "Die Barracuda"-topic. You could write for the Sirius-description: class 4 ship of the line, 50 heavy cannons and 6 light cannons
  7. You might be right. I would also prefer the standard hull. But without expanding the hull it might be very narrow inside the ship. I think adding 2 rows of invert slopes is the minimum for a 2 decker. I'll have to do some research on it.

  9. Are you considering a brick-build hull? I have plans for a 2-decker as well (in the far future) and I'm starting to think in the direction of a brick-build hull to get the right proportions between the width and the length. However, nothing is decided yet.
  10. Not flushed, just nicely integrate. Not like there is suddenly arising a house on the stern of the ship. With the Excalibur I tried to make the stern-castle (correct term?) and fore-castle extremely integrated.

  18. I'm currently building a ship myself and realize how much work is needed to build one. That's why I think that each ship deserves a separate thread unless it is really crappy or not very good and then there is really no need to make a thread at all! You can still add a link in the "Index: MOC ships-discussion thread" so we'll just add the link to the index. But these 2 deck ships that you posted really deserve a thread according to me. Respect the ship :-D ! Now, about this ship: What I like is the size, the 2 gun-decks, color scheme is not great but ok I especially like the access ports/gates on the side of the ship! What I would change: - Mast need to be higher - bow castle is a bit too squary - the stern is a bit too high and not very "integrated". Would be better if it was just a bit lower.
  19. I know, but I'm looking a lot at the pictures when I'm building the Excalibur. And it is a convenient way to find the link to your BS-library. But if you really want it to be removed then I will do so. BTW, this is the discussion thread for the "land based MOCs". Now I have have to bother the pirate moderator again to move this :-D :-D :-D

  21. The numbers in front of the MOCs (that I used for sorting them) are removed as is the "work in progress" status. So from now on the index only requires updates and some maintenance.

  23. Thanks for accepting my invitation and to make some time for us pirates! I agree that once a ship reaches a certain size, its better to make a brick build hull. I have some plans to build a ship like this and maybe I better follow that advise. Building a ship like this on minifig scale might be a rather big undertaking. I actually didn't notice that it was not on minifig scale :-$ Btw, there is another discussion thread discussing the Potempkin.
  24. This must be the first Lego MOC with "Leper" as the central theme. Maybe you could put some body-parts on the ground behind the leper-fig :-D Very original Athos!
  25. Some great finds oo7! I have a lot to say about these ships, but first a question to Mr. Tiber or Mr. Phes: Are we going to discuss these 2 ships in 1 thread or make a split first?
