  1. Holy cow, this is a thing of beauty I especially love all the detail you put into the trucks and fuel tank - amazing job!
  2. Thanks! Thank you! I think the one upside of our current corporate war is now I have an excuse to build more M.A.N.T.I.S. vehicles Thanks - I take that as a high compliment coming from the head of M.A.N.T.I.S. I agree that the tubeworms are disturbing, although not as disturbing as the real ones! Hah, no worries - it's not our fault M.A.N.T.I.S. ships keep falling out of the sky
  3. Wow, another fantastic ship! You did a really nice job with the shaping - I like how the roundness of the engines is carried forward into the middle section and the cockpit. The little drone (?) is cool too - I think you've got just the right amount of greebles to make it interesting without losing the sleekness.
  4. That's a sweet brickbuilt gun, and you've got some nice details on the speeder (although it would have been better in Octan colors ).
  5. I agree - I really like the design of the lab. It feels like a vast, maybe underground room.
  6. I like how you used the tan plates to make the hill, and that MANTIS satellite dish is pretty sweet. The text definitely looks better this week, but I'm not sure I'm digging the rainbow frames. I feel like they don't really add anything - they just make the pictures feel kind of squished and harder to see. But maybe that's just me
  7. I think you did a nice job with the plant placement - it feels sort of overgrown, but it doesn't look crowded and the scene feels balanced. The only thing I'd change is the large palm frond in the back not being connected to anything on the bottom, so it looks like it's just floating. I think if it were attached (or even just had the bottom clip hidden) the scene would feel more like it's fading into green, and it would be less obvious that there's a green plate in the back
  8. Location: E02 - Jurin II Tags: Exploration, Spaceship Lu's Log - 31 Janurali 3816 Back on Jurin II. Damn. The first time I was here, I found something horrific. The second time I was here, I almost died. Hopefully the third time will be the charm. One of our colonists shot down a M.A.N.T.I.S scout craft which had been threatening them. The report HQ passed along said that the ship was mostly intact when it crashed into the ocean, but it sank into deep water. They want me to take the Ophelia and see if I can recover the ship's data core and NavComputer. The descent will take a few hours, so I have time to ask CLAPPIE about a conversation I had last week that's been bugging me. Lu, we've reached 3500 meters and are approaching the M.A.N.T.I.S. craft. Alright, prepping the plasma cutter. Cut complete. Retracting cutter, and deploying the manipulator arms. Easy... easy ... got it! Stowing cargo and locking the arms. CLAPPIE, let's go home. Lu, wait. I didn't say anything earlier because I didn't want to distract you, but our sensors are picking up a powerful gravitational anomaly - one that wasn't detected from the surface. And Lu, there's something else. I'm picking up a faint signal which seems to match that of the Explorien ship Pioneer. My parents' ship?!? It seems extremely unlikely, I know. But, that's what the sensors are reading. The signal is coming from a point 5 kilometers to our east, and 1500 meters deeper. Can we make it there and still get back to the surface? Yes, but we will have no margin for error. If anything delays us at the site, we will die. Set a new course, CLAPPIE. I ... I know we wont find them alive, but I need to know what happened. Aye aye, Captain. ---------
  9. LOL, yeah - I think CLAPPIE represents the still ongoing argument about whether A.I. will be good for the survival of humanity Thanks! Thank you! Yeah, it's a great little set - I need to pick up a second one. Thanks - and yeah, you should totally pick up a few, for the cool torsos if nothing else. Thank you! I guess it all depends on the mission requirements - a gun is probably considered cheating when it comes to offroad racing
  10. Cool - glad it's working for you! I haven't signed up for the Royal features yet, although I'm thinking about doing the free trial to see what it's like.
  11. Cool build! The robot secretary is a great touch, and I like how the lab building is elevated off the ground. I think the lab building could use some more details/greebles, both on the inside and the outside, but I like how it folds open. The comic bubbles are fun, but they look a little rough and jarring. I used PicMonkey to add speech bubbles to a pair of my SoNE freebuilds, and it was pretty fast and easy. Once you pick a photo to edit, click the little snowflake icon to open "themes," then choose "comic heroes" to find the speech bubble options. Disclaimer: I'm not associated with picmonkey in any way - I just use them a lot for photo editing, and they're free, so I feel like I should spread the word
  12. Sweet ride! You've got a lot of really nice SNOT building going on, and I'm always a fan of small, realistic details like the "headlights" on the wing. IMO, the nose seems a little too blunt, especially compared to the sleek lines on the rest of the ship, but that's just a minor complaint - overall this is excellent!
  13. As others have said, that 'planet pod' is really cool, and I love the Octan war truck. Those wing panels make excellent fenders. I'm not a huge fan of the trans-clear plates scattered around; I think it might have been more effective if you only had them where the vehicle is entering the water, so that they looked like spray. Overall, though, awesome scene.
  14. Thanks! I think at the time I didn't have the parts to finish the car, and then I ended up disassembling a lot of builds when I had to move.
  15. Tim Gould has some nice 3-wide door ideas on flickr - I found this one in the LEGO techniques group.
  16. This is an Amtrak Capitol Corridor coach I started about 5 years ago. It was disassembled long ago, but I'd still like to build an Amtrak train set one of these days.
  17. I like the awesomeonium extractor - the skinny legs leading up to the main tank make it look believable. I'm not sure I like the brown for the legs - I think gray or even green and red might have looked a little more high tech. Nice work on the ground too; it's simple, but I think it works well as clay layers, especially with the dark tan tiles on top.
  18. Nice scene - I love the pipes and the different ways you've connected them. The back wall feels a little too colorful IMO; I think the red/white stripes are a bit too much but I like the colors on the floor.
  19. Wow, this is fantastic! Great job with fig posing - the scene really feels like it's a busy bustling base. A ton of great details here, but I think my favorite part is the landing pad elevators - a very cool touch, and a neat technique.
  20. Umm ... something's still not right I should be at 0 credits instead of -50, right? Starting balance = 0 Credits for my contest entry = +90 Credits for winning Cat. A = +50 Subtotal = 140 Transfer to Bob =(140) Ending balance = 0
  21. No worries - I appreciate all the work you do to keep this game going!
  22. Location: H03 - Kaalin Tags: Land Vehicle Lu's Log - 18 Janurali 3816 I'd been to Kaalin once before, on a very different mission. Back before the crash, when I was still able to pilot. Technically, this is supposed to be my week off - after a month of 12 hour days, trying to get the Ophelia ready to dive, I was ready for a break. After a few days on the Axle, though, I got a bit stir crazy so I volunteered for the first ground mission that came up. We're checking up on some Awesomenium probes - a group of them just went offline, despite a recent inspection by a specialist, and HQ suspects foul play. Foul enough that they've sent me out in an armed truck, and given me a partner. Zack's trying to act tough, but I think this might be his first mission on an unsecured planet and he seems jumpy. It's kind of cute. Well, we've left the Octan base's defensive net - shall I, uh, man the gun in back? Nah, CLAPPIE will take care of it. He really likes miniguns. Wait what?!? Your CLAPPIE unit operates vehicle weapons? Sure, doesn't yours? No! The one time we tried to get our CLAPPIE to handle the ship's defensive guns, we got a 30 minute lecture about the Three Laws of Robotics. Huh. I asked CLAPPIE about the three laws once. ... He giggled. Has your CLAPPIE ever shot anything? ... Not anything human. Anyway, I need you to navigate. Which way to the first extractor?
  23. Edit - looking at the timeline, it looks like I should have received 90 credits for my entry plus an additional 50 credits for winning Category A. I'm only shown having 90 credits now - once this is updated I'd like to transfer all 140 credits to Bob. Thanks!
  24. Thanks for another fun contest everyone!
