Sgt. Lucas Kirana: It happened again … this time while I was on Naboo. A bounty hunter working an unrelated job recognized former ISB Agent Goatm An, posing as a merchant captain. I'd been assigned to 'terminate' Goatm almost a year earlier and although we'd had one close encounter, most of the time it felt like I was chasing a ghost. This was the first solid lead we'd had in months. By the time I got to Naboo, the local garrison had identified the ship Goatm had been using, which led them to a house near the spaceport. It was the perfect cover for someone posing as a merchant working his way into respectability. The troops confirmed the house was empty, and then set-up a perimeter. They had orders not to touch or disturb anything before the scanning crew and ISB liaison arrived. They showed me inside, but I'm afraid I didn't make it too far... There was a plant. Something about the smell, or the shape ... reminded me... Something I'd seen before... Shortly after our first encounter, the ISB tracked Goatm to his mother's home planet: Aquilae. They sent a team of agents after him, but lost contact with the agents shortly after they landed. As the sun rose, I saw why. Goatm had been busy. Some of the bodies were already decayed, but others were fresh. Goatm was close, or he had been very recently. The stench was horrific … it was hard to breathe, the humid jungle air tasted of decay … and the flies … can a swarm of flies make that much noise? … the sound rising and falling ... as if the swarm itself had a … a voice... Yes, of course. I was just contemplating our next move. What's up? It's the scanning crew, sir. They found something. Good. … Was there something else, trooper? Uh, respectfully, sir, we've cleared the building, so you can secure your side arm. If you want to. Sir. My pistol. I hadn't even realized I'd drawn it. Roger that. Old habits … where's the scanning crew? Follow me, sir. To be continued ... Update - part 2 finally posted.

Danny joined the Empire - woohoo!! Glad to have you aboard - looks like you'll have a fun character, with lots of story possibilities (how long can enthusiasm last in the corp?). You've got a nicely built vignette - I like the use of 1x2 grilles to suggest the iconic imperial lighting, and you've done a good job using the LBG to break up the black.

[O-H06] The Bright Light of Civilization
LucasLaughing replied to Dannylonglegs's topic in AG1 Archive
This is excellent - I think you portrayed Kevin (and our corporate culture) perfectly! I really like the shaping and style of the micro-HR building, and the letters are really well done. The sun doesn't look cross-like to me. I would have maybe filled it in and put it behind the building, but I think it works well for what you were trying to portray. -

[SoNE Freebuild] A Business Proposal
LucasLaughing replied to Zaael's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
I agree - the colors look great, and I like how you use them in different patterns and styles on the walls. Those brick-built chairs look really good as well - they really add to the Star Wars feel of the build. -
[BH - Wookie] Watching from the treetops
LucasLaughing replied to Jannik's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Cool build - I like your bounty hunter character, and your curved pathway looks great. You did a really nice job on the tree trunks, but I don't know if I'm totally sold on the pink/red foliage. That part doesn't look like Endor (IMO), but I think the other foliage and the trees themselves look really good. -
[SoNE Freebuild 01] Introduction
LucasLaughing replied to Merc4Hire's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Sorry for the late reply, but welcome to SoNE! This is a great little build - I especially like the machinery in the background, and the minifig posing. Glad to have you building for the Empire! -
I'm trying to catch up with recent Star Wars posts - this is a great build! I really like how you built the bounty hunter, and your shot of the impaled Rodian is perfect. Good work!

I wasn't sure I'd make the deadline, but I pulled it off Cold Blooded

Han's story: Look, it wasn't my fault, ok? When I told the princess that I could acquire “any piece of hardware in the galaxy, no questions asked,” I figured she wanted something easy, like a nexu fur coat or a box of disruptor rifles. I wasn't expecting her highness to request a power capacitor for a v-150 ion cannon. I had to call in a lot of favors before someone connected me with the salvage dealer on Ord Mantell. I don't know if the dealer burned us or if it was someone else down the line, but the bounty hunter was waiting for us at the rendezvous point. Waiting for me. This clown was no Boba Fett but he was several steps up from Greedo, which meant Jabba had raised the price on my head. I'd left Chewie to guard the Falcon, of course. The old girl looks a little too much like scrap to be safe around salvage yards. The princess had insisted on coming with me, to make sure I didn't screw up the deal I guess. At least she had the sense to get behind me when the bounty hunter showed up. I could have talked my way out of it. I mean, that's what I do, right? It turned out to be a moot point. The rodian behind the bounty hunter managed to drop his spanner. The bounty hunter turned his head for a second … ...and the next thing I know, I'm deaf in my right ear and the bounty hunter is flat on his back, with a smoking hole where his eye used to be. I turned around, and her worshipfulness just shrugged and asked if we could still get our hands on the capacitor. I guess watching your home planet get blown away tends to leave you a little cold blooded. That's okay, though. No problem. I can handle cold blooded ... but I'm still trying to wrap my head around the princess thing.

This is a very nicely balanced scene - I like the minifig posing, and the fuel adds just the right amount of color.

[SoNE Ep XI] The Tip of the Force Pike
LucasLaughing replied to LucasLaughing's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Thanks! I'm glad you spotted the little story - I tried to pose most of the characters like they were actually doing things in the market. Thank you! If you don't want to wait for future MOCs, I have about 20 prior SoNE builds linked on my profile Thanks! Hah, including your character was actually a happy accident, but that's awesome Thank you! -
[SoNE Episode XI] Escape from Kuat
LucasLaughing replied to Forresto's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
I'm really digging your builds and stories - your intro here is really well written, and I like your minifig posing and action scenes. Glad to have you a part of SoNE (even if you're building for the wrong side ) -
For shame, Rodiziorobs ... for shame . I have resorted to mini-pliers a few times, usually with a cloth around the LEGO piece in an attempt not to damage it. My confession: my LEGO room is sorted to a ridiculous degree, which makes finding parts very fast but putting parts away very slow. Consequently, I have a large box of unsorted parts which need to get put away, and I sometimes find myself rooting through that box trying to find a specific piece which I'm pretty sure I have, but isn't in its proper place...

I love how that walker turned out - great greebles and shaping, and the slightly angled feet give it a really dynamic look. -
[Anthology]- Small- Finding The Dark Side
LucasLaughing replied to TheBeeze's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Welcome to Eurobricks! This is an excellent build - I really like how you show Vader behind the waterfall and your lighting effects work well. Personally, I always appreciate behind the scenes pics - it's nice to see what techniques other builders use. My only suggestion for improvement would be to use the same building technique for the whole waterfall, rather than switching halfway through. It's a bit distracting, IMO, but that's just a minor point - this is a great build overall! -
[SoNE Ep XI] The Tip of the Force Pike
LucasLaughing replied to LucasLaughing's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Thanks! Yeah, I think the majority of the episode entries tend to get posted on the last day. Thanks guys! It's always fun to have an excuse to raid my 'alien minifig' box Thank you! It's nice that we're getting a wider variety of minifigs in less expensive sets lately - I've also gotten lucky with some second-hand LEGO boxes. Thanks - my buildings were definitely inspired by the WIP you posted in the comms thread. I've actually tried to find a fleshie head who would be a good replacement for my sigfig, but haven't found any that are a good fit yet. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it. Thanks everyone - the speeders took a long time, and you're seeing at least version 3.0. Thanks again, btw, for the suggestions on my WIP speeders. I was definitely going for a 'functional' look, so I'm glad that came through. Good call - I think I need to budget my building / photoing time better, so that I don't end up trying to do rushed shots on the last day. -

LucasLaughing replied to Commander Beltar's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Great couple of scenes! As others have said, the trench and wall look really good, and I like the little scarecrow. It's also fun to see a medic in action - I want to see a battlefield surgery for your next build- 11 replies

[SoNE XI] Big Trouble in Little Kuat
LucasLaughing replied to Junior Shark's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Very nice build - I like the contrast between the two buildings, and your minifig posing does a great job bringing the scene to life. As far as background, I just use large sheets of cardstock type paper that I picked up from Fred Meyer (Kroger) for about $1 each. I have white ones for most shoots, but also picked up some black ones for space backgrounds: -
Trooper: I'm just sayin, if we got walkers and tanks how come they sending us in first? Sgt Kirana: Jax, the whole point is that we outpace the walkers and rush the city before the rebels can hunker down. Trooper: Sure, sarge, I got that part, but the hover tanks are almost fast as us. Why not send them first? I mean, might be mines in the road or, or bombs... Trooper: Exactly! You're not going to send a million-credit tank to scout for mines when you can send a refurbished swamp speeder, right? It's simple economics, Jax. We were one of several fast assault convoys; a mixture of upgraded swamp speeders, troop carriers and assorted light armor. The plan was to hit Kuat city from several directions at once, and establish forward outposts while the walkers encircled the city. Any rebels who fled from our advance would be chased down by the units behind us. We arrived at our AO, the central market, around 0900. Sgt Kirana: Acklay 2-1 to Acklay Actual. Lt. Tanager: Send it 2-1. Sgt Kirana: Ma'am, we have reached the central market and are preparing to set-up a defensive cordon... Sgt Kirana: I have eyes on what appear to be armed militia... ... as well as an individual on a rooftop who seems to be relaying our position via a handheld comm unit. ...request permission to occupy the building and bring in the suspicious individual for questioning, over. Lt Tanager: Solid copy 2-1. You are cleared to occupy structures as you see fit until we've established our forward operating base. You are also cleared to detain and interrogate any suspicious individuals, but current ROE states you are not to engage any neutral militia unless threatened. How copy, over? Sgt Kirana: 2-1 copies all. Thank you ma'am. Lt Tanager: Happy hunting, 2-1. A few close ups of the market: A few more swamp speeder shots:
