  1. Very nice! I love the Falcon, Xwing and TIE. The shuttle is a bit too much of studs and grey plates for me. FO Snow Speeder is great too. Rey's is pretty nice but seems not QUITE smooth enough. The range is very good overall though IMO.
  2. Wow, awesome! I love it. As a big Macross fan I love to see a good transforming jet.
  3. I agree Phyre. I would not mind it too greatly if they had one themed series a year so that my wallet got a break. For me the monsters series is not that great a draw. I don't really like zombies unless it is in a high fantasy setting so zombie cheerleaders and businessmen are of no interest to me personally. I'll get some from the series that have more diverse uses. I basically skipped the Lego Movie series too as I had no interest in the robot cops. I got the coffee barista, the taco guy, an Emmet for the hat and construction outfit, but the rest I was happy to leave. I got both Simpsons series but might skip a Disney one. One themed series I wish they would do is Star Wars. I know you can't just slap all the main characters in a CMF series as it would likely hurt set sales. But there are so many other characters they could do that would be a complementary add-on for the sets. Forget clone/storm trooper variant 348521. Give me some of the other less important characters in a CMF series and I sure will buy them to flesh out the world. Imagine if they had an Ewok that is not in the Ewok Village or other Endors sets, a guard from Jabba's palace that was not in that set or the sail barge, a bounty hunter that had not been in the SSD or another set, an alien that was not in the Mos Eisley cantina set, etc. There are so many lesser characters and back in the 80s just about all of them would get a figure eventually in the regular action figure line. That series would sell like hot cakes for sure!
  4. Love the guy in the barrel in the middle! LOL!
  5. EIGHT fire sets. What the hell LEGO????? Why do you do this?
  6. Cool! I like it.
  7. Really nice work. I like it a lot. I especially like unexpected details like the greenery inside the walls that make it a bit more realistic.
  8. Nice. Thanks.
  9. Nice! I particularly like the interior.
  10. I for one am SO sick of seeing one pizzeria after another. Friends have a little one now. I mean I know pizza is well suited to a 2x2 round tile but enough already! Bike shops too. They've been doing both of these over and over for decades. I understand and like nostalgia but it's ridiculous. There were plenty of auto repair themed sets when I was young but they seem rarer these days. Same with gas/petrol stations.
  11. Maybe. Another rumor was an Adam West Batmobile and Batcave wasn't it? Or is that confirmed?
  12. Jamie went out for lunch with members of our LUG after introducing the Sydney Opera House model in the actual Sydney Opera House foyer. Conversation was great and at an adult level, delving into a lot of AFOL topics. He's definitely aiming his words at younger people in the videos, just like his Creator tutorial videos. I have a feeling the designer videos are being made to appeal to children and help them understand the models so they they aspire to own them in the future. I'm sure kids from well off families are still getting these sets when they are well below the recommended 16 years. The videos do not need to appeal to adults in the same way. Adults are likely more aware of the products, understand what they are seeing, and know if they want them or not. In summary I think the videos are designed to get more younger people interested in buying them. And I don't think it really hurts to have some play features in the modulars.
  13. Very nice.
  14. Note: I believe it came to light in recent years that Han's Hoth outfit has a brown jacket too. It just looks blue due to the light. Similar to the AT-AT pilot being revealed as grey, not white.
  15. The MOC looks great. It would really benefit from some better photographs. I suggest not using flash and trying to photograph it in brighter light from multiple sides. Really beautiful build though!
  16. The first Jabba's palace was awful. Now, people need to remember that not every set in a theme can be huge and detailed, they need to hit certain price points so that kids without as much money can get something. E.g. the mention of the Friends Pizzeria. However, I don't care that the first Jabba's palace was not huge and amazing - that's fine. But one thing about that set was just awful... Jabba himself. They couldn't even be bothered printing eyes on him. Terrible! I also think the big figs like the Hulk should have more articulation.
  17. Very nice!
  18. I'm sure most of you would consider the Elder Scrolls games to be high fantasy. They have dwarves, sort of. The dwarves, called Dwemer, all died out long ago so you never see them in game, not even skeletons strangely. However, they were skilled at metallurgy and building steam engines and so you can find working machinery and even mechanical robot-like constructions in ancient Dwemer ruins. That's a far stretch from robo-horses, however it is becoming more common to see steampunk, even quite advanced mechs, making their way into fantasy settings. I for one really dislike the Dwemer stuff in the Elder Scrolls and feel it is out of place. My feeling is that magic was supposed to provide the excitement, hence why for me Dungeons & Dragons and Elder Scrolls are great themes while Middle Earth is lacking in magic - only a few people seem to use it and they tend to be quite powerful. For me, introducing highly advanced steam punk, mechs or robo-horses into fantasy settings seems like missing the point, a missed opportunity to exploit magic. There is a bigger discussion to be had elsewhere about the future of themes like pirates, western and castle stuff as to whether these themes can survive when they start to look less exciting to younger people. More and more kids are using technology from an early age and they may find these themes boring. I wonder what will happen in 20-30 years time when they have grown up. Will pure historical themes in film, books and toys hold much interest?
  19. Gorgeous!
