I think the style also exists to give the feel of masonry and to break up the "big ugly grey wall". Some masonry can be overdone for my taste but for the most part it makes Mocs a lot more interesting. You have to remember that castles were also a multigenerational buildng so they could already potentially be several hundred years old by the time they feature in builds.

Excellent Moc! The hoardings look great. I think the building inside the walls is well done and the small touches like the rubble in the wall cross section send it to the next level.

We'll done, this is one of my favourite mounts so far.

Great build! I agree win Gunman that the buildings roof is a highlight. The drying rack and the posing of the figs give it a real "alive" feel. I also like the way you've built the base/border

Look, I'm going preempt my comments by acknowlenthat there are people here who feel strongly one way or the other and I respect that... However...l I am of the opinion that there are some people out there who will never be happy and need an outlet to express their outrage. The whole lego debate is a case in point. Phase one of the outrage- not enough female representation in Lego Phase two- we have more females but they only have stereotypical gender roles (shop keeper etc) Phase three- okay they have no stereotypical gender roles but the males are gritty and dirty and the female has makeup and is clean (fire station) or the females have hourglass and breast printing (new ideas set). I am a father of 9 and 7year old girls I feel mildly qualified in knowing the opinions of this demographic in regards to gender in Lego and they couldn't give two hoots!! If they want a female doctor, policewoman, firewoman all they do is change the head and hair........

I really like the walls and the war Elephant. I think it's a great idea to "build around Historica" :-)

The troll is very well done. I also like the idea of "high orcs". The posing gives a great feeling of a patrol in hostile territory...

I like the shops, in particular the use of blue. The street is also very well done
