  1. The amount you save using bricklink more than outweighs the points one might get. Also paypal I believe allows you to pay using a credit card without an account. You just don't get the protection paypal offers.
  2. The Clone Wars was the only thing other than the trilogy movies which is canon. Which also now includes Rebels.
  3. If the Hobbit had been properly planned from the beginning we could have ended up with very different sets. These sets take time to,plan and develop and are largely based on concept material that TLG is allowed to have access to. But when you add an entire movie into the mix midway and have movies heavily laden with cgi that can be changed constantly you are going to end up with what we got. TLG no doubt will be happy to see the end of middle earth and might not, take on such projects in the future especially when PJ is involved.
  4. Warner Bros. only owns the rights to make movies based on TLoR and the Hobbit. All other rights belong to the Tolkien family and only they could expand upon middle earth. Where as Disney owns all rights to anything to do with Star Wars thus they could make new movies forever.
  5. Evergreen encompasses more than than licensed themes. In fact until superheroes, Star Wars was the only licensed evergreen theme. City, castle and pirates I believe are all considered evergreen and there might be a few others I'm not remembering. They are for all intense and purposes permanent themes. Some cycle while others are out on a continual basis. Mainly it means we will be seeing a greater number of superhero sets and a broader array of characters.
  6. I don't believe we knew ahead of time about Harry Potter ending. They made a statement saying it had ended and the last wave did not see its usual cycle length due to an additional movie. That is very unusual for TLG to do and I think they even said they don't usually make an announcement but only did so due to the popularity of the theme. I doubt we will ever hear such an announcement regarding middle earth and fully expect the theme to end this summer. As that would be the two year mark for Orthanc. Those waiting for such an announcement are going to be very disappointed when the theme suddenly vanishes. The only indication that might be remotely available is the new Elves theme.
  7. Let's see $5 Billion company and #1 toy manufacturer in the world. Seems like they might know what they are doing. Can anyone here say the same? Nope.
  8. I've been to both near me and neither had any new sets. I imagine it's based on stock on hand as they still had plenty of the old sets out.
  9. Perhaps, just perhaps, they are not out at all of the TRUs. Have you been to all of them?
  10. Think the second alligator meant to say stale banana bread.
  11. Seems to me you could turn this argument on its head by saying why doesn't pink and pastels appeal to boys. Why do we automatically assume that pink only appealing to girls? Cannot boys play with dolls? The original G.I. Joe figures were dolls. At one time in history pink was a boys color. Red represented war and manhood and pink represented a future warrior. Colors have only the value that we place upon them. So the real question that should be asked is why can't boys like pink too? If some are truly worried about color stereotypes then children and adults should be able to like any and all colors. Otherwise you are only focusing on half the issue.
  12. I have a suggestion. Perhaps a new topic for those who have older sets like these could share with those who are seeking reviews of such sets. Not sure if there is any interest. Might be nice from a historic perspective to see how some lines have changed over time such as castle, pirates, etc. An overall view of sets over the ages sitting side by side. It's a thought. I've personally been delving into the Vikings sets and in the process of collecting the pieces.
  13. I hadn't seen them before but in the last few days have seen a few appear on shelves. My main target seems to squirrel away products like these which will suddenly appear out of nowhere when it seemed they never had any.
  14. I believe this catalogue is for retail stores thus exclusive sets such as slave 1 and modulars wouldn't be included.
  15. Cool, Ty. Reminds me a bit of Japanese animation.
  16. Bananas are in short supply this time of year.
  17. Well of course, otherwise there would be no story. And it certainly has never stopped the forces of evil before. There is always some evil genius hatching plans. The point being I see great potential with this line, not only story wise but piece wise as well.
  18. Looks a little different to me too. The new one looks like it has crisper edges. But that might just be a difference in lighting. There is a joke in there somewhere.
  19. If one is going to use mini doll as a link that means she could come from Arendelle for that matter. My guess there will be no direct links made between this theme and friends. Leaving such things to the imagination.and creative of its target audience. That being said, if Emily is able to enter this world from her own then that means people could enter her world. Which means the evil forces that lurk could march upon the streets of Heartlake city! Who will save them? Will chaos rein in our quiet and peaceful nook of the world? Will the masked crusaders save the city from destruction? Find out next time, same bat time, same bat channel.
  20. I am aware what you wrote, but this statement does nothing to answer questions people have about licensing LoTR. The major one being when TLG's license ends. If there was a license conflict TLG would have most likely already removed all LoTR projects. Much like Doctor Who which was allowed to be posted on ideas once a preexisting license conflict was resolved. So this statement doesn't really say anything new. Sorry to best a dead horse as many here have filled many a page about this very subject. I think a healthy conservation in this topic would be greatly served by a name change and unpinning.
  21. That just means no one else has rights to the license after theirs expires. It says nothing about when TLG's license will expire and whether further licenses will be granted to anyone.
  22. Target seems to be in full 2015 release mode. I found all the new princess sets today at one of my local targets and was able to pick up Elsa's Ice Castle. A welcome surprise for a certain girl this Christmas. They also had most if not all the new friends sets including the hot air balloon and light house. I didn't have much time so I didn't make a thorough examination. I didn't see any new sets from the other lines.
  23. Thank you. I found a pic of the model used for the documentary the Unsinkable Henry Morgan. And I didn't think it really look like a frigate, but that is the only model I found. Do you know where I could find others? I may be sailing down the wrong channel on this one.
  24. An Ep. vii flame thrower would be awesome!
  25. He's dead Jim.
