  1. Maybe you should just retitle it LoTR ideas projects. Unpin it and let it die peacefully.
  2. I'm looking for some source material for fifth rate ships of the line. I'm interested in perhaps building a model of The Satisfaction, Captain Henry Morgan's ship. I found the overall dimensions but I lack information about masts and the like. Being a noob at this I also am unsure about the general scale such a ship would be. The length of the keel is 89' and it's breadth is 24'6". It has a crew of 100 men and carries 26 nominal guns. Basically I need a starting point and maybe another similar type ship I can reference off of so it doesn't look like a mess. Any suggestions?
  3. Unless you are standing in front of the shelves while they bring out the frozen sets the likelihood of finding them is practically zero. Maybe instead of stomping your foot like a spoiled child you should teach you daughter about the real spirit of Christmas, it doesn't come from a store. Just ask the Grinch! Happy holidays!
  4. Small vignettes are a much more effect way to tell a story while minimizing the bricks required. Not to mention an exterior needs to be fairly interesting to be included, much like the Death Star. I don't recall anything special about the outside of cloud city, I mainly remember all the antennas. Carbon freeze chamber and Vaders revelation would definitely be a must. Most likely a cloud car set as well with a possible landing pad for your slave 1/MF parking needs(unlikely but one can dream). A summer 2015 wave seems most likely the time, but if not then it's anyone's guess how heavily ep. vii is going to dominate going forward.
  5. Unexpected Gathering by a mile. It set the bar so high none of the other hobbit sets came close. And I think it represents the type of set Tolkien fans would have like to seen for other middle earth locations.
  6. I don't think there ever was a strong possibility we would see a ucs cloud city. As many others have mentioned it would mostly come as multiple sets. Much like how we got Hoth sets.
  7. I was curious if anyone had thoughts about altering the length of the brick bounty? I have no real experience in building lego ships but am currently collecting pieces to build 7018. That got me to thinking about expanding the length of the bounty to add a third mast in the middle. Anyone have such experience?
  8. I got what you meant, and I agree. I was trying to add Disney carries that idea out to the overall story. They tend to like cohesion top to bottom.
  9. I don't think Disney is big on random. Which might be the source of j.j.'s troubles. Their movies usually fit into a much larger picture thus a need for an underlying structure for everything.
  10. The photo of the inside of the pumpkin has the second row of numbers 14-801. Which is highly likely the source of the 14. I checked the inside of the gingerbread mans head and the number it showed was 05-001. Which neither matches the part number or the series number. Anyone know what the second set of numbers represents?
  11. I agree, it's a haphazard mess. A whole that seems less than the sum of its parts. The Hobbit was never meant to be an equal of TLoR, rather a supplement. And all of the additions Jackson has made only emphasis that fact. Another trilogy whose story gets buried by special effects.
  12. Actually I don't believe TLG and mega bloks shared sponge bob at the same time. And if they did, highly doubtful, it was for a short time because TLG's license was expiring. Companies do not normally enter licensing agreement unless they have exclusive rights for making a certain product, thus why the Spider-Man sets are not the norm. That being said one company having the license does not mean another company cannot become the license holder in the near future. TLG is allowed to produce and sell sets until the very last day of their licensing period. If another company has the license and it starts the very next day then they can begin to sell sets on that date. Seeking products of both companies on the shelves at target does not reflect licensing agreements since target has already purchased said sets and can sell them until they run out. Yes, but Hoth bricks also saw fit to place the rumor on their front page. I find them very credible and they are usually not in the habit of promoting rumors unless they themselves have a reliable source.
  13. I think that is wishful thinking. If we do get any Doctor Who it'll be an ideas set and not a whole theme. I wouldn't describe Doctor Who as a child friendly version of monster fighters but that is how I would exactly describe Scooby Doo. Also the original show is considered retro today with both the clothes and van not to mention the overall look of the show. It is interesting that.everyone has readily accepted the rumor of a new theme yet some reject Scooby doo based on the same type of unsubstantiated rumor. Not a criticism, just an observation how biases can affect judgement. And in this case I am certainly biased thus I have readily accepted both rumors to be true.
  14. Scooby Doo would be awesome. My brother and me loved that show growing up. Though it's funny to watch it now and realize what was really going on.
  15. I picked up the GKB for a really good price but have yet to build it. Maybe its me but I always thought it might go well with the Orc forge, minus the minifigs of course.
  16. I can only imagine how many unopened sets are stacked taking up a great deal of space in peoples homes. Only reason to get an extra one now would be so you could give it to your kid when they get old enough. But even then I'm sure when it does retire eBay is going to swimming in them as people desperately try to unload them.
  17. For some reason I was thinking March or April for the release date.
  18. If your walmarts are like the one near me they have a small selection of Legos in general. Probably less that half of what my target carries. Though another target near me has yet to carry the wave 3 either and I see no room for them to go. Even the end caps are crammed full of new toys for the holidays.
  19. Lose your source?
  20. David Yates is directing all three, plus the screenwriter is going to be the same guy who did all eight potter movies. From what I understand the trilogy is going to be about newt scamander researching and writing the Fantastic Beasts book. Whether there is any connection to the potter movies remains to be seen but I wouldn't be surprised to see at least a younger version of a certain professor. I like the idea of having a few trilogies about past events but I would rather not see one about the first war with voldemort. I think the eight books did a good job of giving us the relevant information. I would much rather see movies that occur after the deathly hollows so we get something new and not a hobbit rehash.
  21. The only stormtroopers who can shoot well are too busy disabling sandcrawlers on Tatooine.
  22. No doubt. What we might have here is a case of lost in translation.
  23. What, no grifter? I agree that list looks a bit wonky.
  24. Doh! Looks like its flying backwards.
