Correct... all types of DB gain are separated so that those transactions cannot be added in -- it is the same with taxation, we don't count payments in the 20%.

Yes, it looks like we may need a settlement index eventually.

Just to affirm Dr. Spock, the free license is meant to help those without a ship get into the game, and help you recover from catastrophic failure. No. There are no refunds, in fact the upgrading thing isn't totally in the rules right now. PIPS are the total of gold you have made throughout this whole Era - PIP expenditures and gambling debts (you lose PIPs on gambling losses) We will probably have to divide it into PIPs purely off free builds and Total PIPs to make it fair to those who are not playing in the economy. There will be some sort of prize for those who win in the PIP categories. Maybe a high five...

I don't remember if I said something on this earlier or not. Someone find it!!! I have only added like 500 posts to my post count in the last four months! Ok so the fundamental problem here is the idea that these are blueprints for sale -- if they were truly blueprints, than they could be sold over and over again. This cannot fly for the MRCA because of the limit that one MOC = only one active ship at a time. I also took the story to be that the actual ship was being sold. So I think this comes down to a new set of legal rights. First -- is this an in character purchase, or a purchase between two builders. If it is a purchase between two builders, just to use a MOC picture, then I think it could be traded on the free market without restriction. But only one use of the MOC could be active at a time in the EGS/MRCA. In this case, you could use this MOC to represent a license you had bought, or had captured because it is not in the story, so to speak. If i- character the purchase is made: A) is this blueprints or a ship? B) if it is a blue print, then the buyer is actually buying the rights to construct a ship in the image of the original, but the original CANNOT be licensed while the new "blueprinted" ship is active. You also could not apply a captured license to this, because that would be a miraculous capture in deed to find out that it had the exact same blueprints as you had bought! C) If it is a ship, then the buyer would have to license that ship as is in story purposes. As in, you couldn't apply a license you had already to it. But the big issue here is legal rights after that ship has met Davey Jones. Who has the right to use the MOC picture again? That probably needs to be established at time of sale or before and auction begins.

Excellent Semaphore! Nicely done, and the design is very convincing. I feel as if there should be flags on the arms though. Also, I don't trust those Oleanders correctly identifying Corlander flags, considering most Oleanders only sea Blue. I am pretty sure that is a proven fact.

This works for me, I was just going to say that everyone had the option to NPC sell for 50% but this is more realistic. Also, just to clarify, as I am pretty sure you meant this, but people couldn't just moc ships, not license them, and sell them in the prize court. The FB form is closed for retooling. It will be open soon.

Since there are rumors of a continent to the far east, perhaps we should hold off on New Corrington, because Oleon will always have the bragging right that "ours is bigger than yours" They are a simple folk, so this kind of insult means something to them, but as good Corlanders, we should not give them it. Sandive, Wendon, Parineer, Edgarton, Ballista, Badelphia, Serentia, Finnister, Shokeer.... We can always make up royal family members too and name stuff after them - Duchess Alice, Viscount Morris, Duke Damien, etc...- 897 replies

Wowsers! Excellent build, and it struck me as well as just the perfect visage of one of the main gates of the richest cities in the world.

Oh! I think for now, in that case, just write "no build for mine" Or something like that.

It would be a normal license. You just don't have to MOC it until you hear about what it is. We actually had two people put up money to explore mining, and here are the results: Captain Braunsfield very luckily hit copper -- that would have been awkward otherwise. Captain Genaro hit Silver!!!! In the future, if you are putting up the money for the mine, just let us know when you have submitted the form, that way we can be quicker about the mine process!

The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion

The Great Corrington Naval Debate.... Ok, I see the point about upgrading captures. We won't do it on the nation level. I feel as if the two SRs that caught the 3As should be able to show a "improvement" MOC and bump those up to 4s if they want. I also think that perhaps the limit in upgrade should be one class of ship. I like the idea of some sort of MOC to improve the vessel, but adding length or decks or something should not be required. A vessel could become more powerful with just larger cannon, or faster with a new rig. Also, as much as the MRCA system has been interesting, I am thinking of rather than a tweak, it may need a new rewrite. Originally designed like a boardgame, there seems to be such a demand for reality, that its current form may be untenable as interesting for everyone involved.- 897 replies

Whereas you shouldn't be under licensing too far (I think the 1 class is a good rule of thumb), it is in the nature of the game to do so. Perhaps in order to clear port, you had to take on a second trader's cargo to afford the real port fees, so instead of being a 4t, your trade value is only worth 2t. There are many explanations why a ship could be licensed smaller than its MOC. Also, realistically, vessels were rerigged and refit all the time. Ships could easily bounce around in class, and I don't think it is too much a stretch to improve one level by adding more guns. However, I will go with whatever you guys want to do. I just lament the end of our 5HA. (Maybe we should send all the 4As out to capture her! haha) As for Mike's question, 2 4As would have a large advantage over a 5A.- 897 replies

It has already been answered, but you can build whatever you want outside of the EGS, and you can even "skirt" some of the issues here by licensing the rest of the businesses in your start to finish. Just the mine couldn't be registered itself, but the shaping business, the hauling business, etc... could. This is probably going to change, but right now its one to one.

Well technically, we could still award the points for the free build thread, that wouldn't be hard, just time consuming. We are going to have to figure out who won Book II somehow! haha. -

State of our Navy in New Terra Waters, a report by the Admiralty Board: Queen's Glory: Escort -- Class 5 H A Pandora: Escort -- Class 5 H A Paradise: Escort -- Class 4 A Mars: Escort -- Class 5 H A Bull Shark: Escort -- Class 5 H A ---- Captured, licensed, but not active until we figure out what to do with it: Lover’s Quarrel (Class 4A) Butcher’s Baby (Class 3A) Whisper (Class 4A) Shadow (Class 1A) Friends Forever (Class 4A) ---- Stricken from the Naval List: Mermaid: Class 5 H A - Taken by the pirate Daniel Doblinhue, Feb 616. _______________________________________ Immediate Naval Planning: Refit Whisper as a a 5HA at price difference and commission her the HMS Whisper in order to bring our navy up to equivalent strength of last month. (As our new fifth ship, she will not need MOCed) This leaves: Lover’s Quarrel (Class 4A) Butcher’s Baby (Class 3A) Shadow (Class 1A) Friends Forever (Class 4A) The Admiralty suggests keeping the other two 4As in dry docs until they can be MOCed With the option to upgrade their license. Woodbrose's personal suggestion is to give the 1A license away in a contest form, however, we could keep the 3A in drydock as well until it is MOCed.- 897 replies

March 616 - Corrington's Escorted Trade Runs

Swift Packet and Saucy Jack would like to keep with the Merry Lyric, I leave the Dancing Dogfish up to you. -
This shouldn't have happened, because I should been adding your name in for the first time and gave you the 25 off like I did others, I must have missed that -- send an adjudication form, and just remember you have the 25DBs to spend. The contest scores are missing, and I looked for the license for that house and could not find it, I thought maybe you didn't license it? I think its an Oleon conspiracy. On monopolies, remember, these are technically only the right to carry these goods within your own empire. So technically, those traders that don't stop by their own nation's territory probably shouldn't be making monopoly money! Also, I need to adjust the license form so you can denote that the property is changed by a monopoly value. I caught some of them going in, if I did not catch yours, send a adjudication form. Finally, Monopolies are something unique to Eslandola, they grant high profit. If we establish a monopoly in another nation, the profit rate would probably not be as high. Eslandola launched with one of their special features, Corrington and Oleon did not.( SRs have their half off). Corlanders will have extra income from science and technology properties, while we still have not established exactly what Oleon's special ability will be.
