  1. Nice one - I suppose this is for the Technic challenge? I still haven't got any good ideas for that.
  2. Very nice, fitting all the PF is tough and you've done a great job packing it in such a small package.
  3. I'm kind of bored making digital files, but at the moment it's more convenient than getting my bricks out so it'll have to do :( With free batteries. Download the LDD file here. Thanks to Zblj for the 5x7 frames which I've modified slightly. If you actually want to build this, let me know if anything is out of place or unclear.
  4. Now digitised! Download the LDD file here: This can be built with ~ 282 pieces from 8051. There are quite a few odds and ends that were too difficult (I found the chains a nightmare) or not available (the correct flex hose) so I have either left them out or made workarounds. Black fantasy - because the panels do not exist in silver (or even grey) and the wheels not in black (amongst others).
  5. Glad to see you're interested in getting some too - we can band together I did think about getting some in my Lego Direct order last year. The parts were sent to family in the UK who gave it to my parents to take on the plane. However I there were issues with taking Li-Po batteries on the plane - such as the possibility of having them confiscated I will try to find out the rules for having them sent by normal post. There has to be a way - S@H obviously has found one.
  6. What everyone else said - it might be more useful for static or slow models where precise control is wanted, but for remote-control vehicles, stick with the normal remote.
  7. May I think. Speaking of S@H, whilst most things have gone down, the 8878 rechargeable battery box has gone from $120 to $150 I was planning to buy three at some stage, but not at $150. Perhaps it's a mistake - I may contact Lego NZ and find out.
  8. This reminds me of mahjqa's Igniz, which is a good thing. The integration of all the Power Functions needed for remote-control is very good; something I've found quite challenging.
  9. Thanks The steering is identical to the Batpod's, which is explained here.
  10. Great job! I especially like the use of panels and other techniques to break up the flat surfaces, the adjustable seats and the struts for the boot. Well done
  11. Welcome I just finished building 8043 - I like the complexity but the performance is a little underwhelming due to the M motors. If you do buy it, make sure you use the indispensable 20% off voucher. You might also want to let the TW people know that 8043s are available for $320 from Lego S@H.
  12. Wwwha? Anyway, I'd use as few gears as possible for reliability. Check out the instructions for 8275 which I believe uses three 16zs from each XL motor to the tracks. Build a test chassis with weights (to simulate the completed model) and experiment with the infinite power/drivetrain/chassis combinations.
  13. I recommend you have a look at two approaches to Technic design: Studless, by mahjqa Studded, by Jennifer Clark Your design looks a little fragile, and these may help you develop your own construction methods which are more robust
  14. For the Octan challenge at LUGNuts. Basically, an evoluzione of my Batpod. Specifically, the battery box is one stud lower which means cornering is much improved.
  15. Super brilliant Great idea, execution and video. I think the second and third pics show how it is built quite well.
  16. Thanks Kiel for indexing my Junkers 88. I've also made my remote-control Technic Batpod in LDD. It is missing the correct wheels which I couldn't find Download here.
  17. Thanks everyone It's quite different. For instance the angle of the front fork is due to the angled liftarm and a bit of Pythagoras 4-5-6. It's also a two, rather than three cylinder. I think the biggest similarities are the front and rear 'forks' (is that the right word?) that hold the wheels on.
  18. A week ago they had at least two at Moore Wilsons in Tory Street ($139). Wouldn't hurt to ring them, if they have any at their other stores they'll bring it in for you
  19. Cool! That's very interesting. I'm really surprised at the small tyres - I was expecting ones much larger for buoyancy. I suppose the tyres were sealed to the wheels? They look the same as the Argocat ones - and after shooting the video I found quite a bit of water had leaked inside.
  20. I don't generally like bikes, except those that are either really eccentric/unique or those that just look plain cool, like this Moto Guzzi (pronounced like this): So with bikes like that in mind I created this 8051 alternate:
  21. Finally got around to uploading an LDD model I made in August. Of course you'll only need bricks from the Indiana Jones set 7198. Download here.
  22. Thanks everyone. Well there's no trickery in the video - but it's much too heavy to float. Somehow the real Argocats do. Have you got any videos of the Czech floating trucks?
  23. Again, awesome work. This would make a great gift
