  1. Maybe, but humans vs non-humans is more clear cut than humans vs humans.
  2. Yea but other stories at least they have the possibilities of blurring the line of good and evil, but those are mostly "adult" stories. They do less of that for recent Lego themes. But I can see their point, they are a primarily a children's toys company. So it would not be a good idea to give the impression that being bad can sometimes be good. So that would be why they would move towards more pure good vs pure evil themes. Which probably means future historic themes would be mythology based. For example Greeks vs Cyclops and minotaurs, instead of Greeks vs Macedonians, Romans, Persians, etc.
  3. I have a question about the wall panels since this set has so many of them. Since they are not the same thickness as bricks, wouldn't that make your castle "weaker" at those sections since its thinner. As in if you showed off the interior of your castle, and there are those hollow spots from the panels. Those would be vulnerable siege points. And if you use a panel in your wall, shouldn't that mean someone should be able to look through it? So your walls might have several "floors" so that you can have troops on the top of the wall, as well as the middle of the wall to look through the windows. Am I just overthinking it?
  4. The more detail the better. But that probably increases the prices of sets. Which is of course bad. Also they put older minifigs to shame which can be disjarring when you have old and new minifigs in the same MOC, brickfilm, or whatever project you are working on. It's like whoa lots of detail guy, and then little detail guy next to him.
  5. This also applies to Historic and Space. For historic they had Vikings vs monsters instead of say Vikings pillaging (and the other ing) poor English peasants. And Crown Knights and Dwarves vs Skeletons and Trolls. But with Kingdoms they returned to Humans vs Humans. And Space, they used to have humans as the good guys, bad guys, and possibly neutral guys. Then they had the various aliens as the bad guys ever since. There is a informative post about it somewhere here on Eurobricks. IIRC it was History of Lego Space or was it history of Lego in general.
  6. It took me a long time for me to finish Episode 2 because I was working on other videos and I sort of lost motivation at the beginning. But now its finished. Around half dialogue and half action.
  7. I really liked the water supply section. And the castle gets real good looking in the pictures on the second page. I also like the dining hall. It reminds me of when I played Dwarf Fortress I would just carve out a massive square room and fill it with tables and chairs.
  8. Amazon.com is having the Ninjago Garmadon's Dark Fortress on sale for 50 USD isntead of the regular price 70 USD. The NinjaGo theme just came out 2 weeks ago and its alread at such a deep discount. I did not expect this. I already ordered one yesterday when it dropped to 63 dollars, and too lazy to order a second one and return the first one because it has already shipped. I will take the 13 dollar loss and make up for it on future sales (in fact I bought a second Battle of Alamut recently for 15 dollars off so it balances out). EDIT: Garmadon's Dark Fortress back at 63USD at amazon again, but Battle of Alamut dropped from 65 USD to 63USD.
  9. I would suggest going to bricklink and checking out the inventory. Another long post. If this is just for "Display on shelf" Get the higher piece count to price ratio sets of the ones that you really want. If this is for MOC's, then ask yourself what do you really want to build now and in the future. And what kind of pieces do you want for said creations. A high piece count is not necessarily good. Like some sets have lots of cheese slopes, studs, horns, and other tiny pieces that you may not find useful but the set has like 50 of them. For example, for Castles. Compare Fire Brigade to Kingdoms King's Castle. The Fire Brigade has the higher piece count to price ratio. But when you look at the bricklink to both, King's Castle has a similar amount of gray bricks, but costs significantly less. And it also has Castle suitable pieces, like the Kingdoms minifigs, the wall panels (which can be used as replacement for bricks in your castle), medieval windows and doors, a horse. So if you just want a gray castle you would choose the King's Castle. But maybe you want a gray castle, but also want some red pieces for some other creation or to bring some color to your castle. Fire Brigade has like 100 red bricks, while King's Castle has zero. So then the Fire Brigade would be a better choice.
  10. Well I ordered my first Prison Tower Rescue and second Battle of Alamut (for tan, white and medium dark flesh pieces). I haven't even touched my first King's Castle yet. But I was looking at the bags and wow so many awesome pieces. I think I will have to get a second one even if at full price. I hope to get a second Prison Tower Rescue to get more black castle pieces.
  11. I doubt I would get this set. But the dragon's head would make a great battering ram or the bow of a ship. Since its an ice dragon, maybe you want it for your viking siege weapons or ships.
  12. Would ordering online reduce/negate this kind of scam? Presumably they ship directly from the store's warehouses. While in store stock might have been tampered with.
  13. He probably meant the orange. Anyway I think it looks great. While the colorfulness makes it less realistic looking, it also brings it to life and makes it less drab looking. I know this is a "debate" among many hobby enthusiasts. Do you go for the bright colors to make your creations pop, or have earthy colors for realism. I know people discuss this for painting miniatures, model kits, and of no doubt lego mocs as well. I used to be the pro realism colors side, but then I realized everything would look too similar and hard to distinguish between each other. Your buildings may be too colorful and unrealistic but it allows each one to stand out and grab attention. The only thing that looks odd is the one building at the corner that has tan on one side and blue on the other.
  14. I watched the movie too. I thought it was entertaining. I hope they make a sequel if they make a Wave 2. Although it would be pretty lame to have to wait so long just for 2 more episodes. Well I was going to get the Dojo and Dark Fortress and ninja training outposts for the minifigs but I think I will just get the Dark Fortress for the castle pieces. It has a decent amount of black and gray pieces and black panels which I can use for a black fortress. I just ordered the Prison Tower Rescue so if I buy this set I should have enough black bricks to make a small castle.
  15. I do my best to think each purchase through thoroughly. The main problem would be lots of thinking might cause you to miss out on sales. And of course the fact that plans can always change. At first I bought sets with the intention of creating sci fi vehicle mocs and bought some power miners and city vehicle sets. That way I could use the power miners pieces to scifi up the city vehicles. But I changed my mind after buying the sets and wanted to do castle mocs. So then I bought the Kingdoms sets and Prince of Persia (they are castley). I was thinking of getting something like the Fire Brigade because of the price/piece but I thought about it and it certainly does have lots of pieces, but a lot of them are not as castle friendly as say the Kingdoms King's Castle. The King's Castle certainly has is more expensive in terms of price per piece but it has more castle friendly pieces like the gate piece, 2 medieval doors, 2 medieval windows, arches, wall panels and turrets (which not everyone loves but its a nice way to pad out the castle walls) and its mostly gray which is the vital color for castle building. I think I might have to pick up a second King's Castle. third even if toys r us has a buy one get 1 half free (I should have bought 3 when they had the buy 2 get 3rd free sale months ago but I was too busy thinking it through and missed out on the sale). EDIT: Long story short, you to do a cost benefit analysis. Look up what pieces you get from the set on bricklink, compare to other sets you want. See which ones has the more appealing pieces at a cheaper price. Etc.
  16. I remember reading a topic about how a guy bought a set and instead of the second half of his set he got a bag from the Mountain troll fortress or something.
  17. Ancient Greece/Persia would be sweet. Since they already have the Spartan minifig from the collectible series, and the Persian minifigs from Prince of Persia.
  18. I would like something like 22 civilians. Ranging from farmers, merchants, blacksmiths, nobility (besides king/prince/queen/princess but that might be harder to pull off). And whatever medieval workers existed.
  19. I see Ninjago sets at Lego US S@H. I want the Ninja Ambush, Spinjitzu Dojo, Garmadon's Fortress, and Ninja Training Outpost. The rest have too few minifigs for their price. I just want some ninjas and skeletons for future armies.
  20. As a general rule of thumb any of the 50+ dollar sets should be good. The cheaper ones tend to be minifig heavy and brick light. But right now Medieval Market Village is good. The 100+ sets tend to have more tiny pieces which can be more useful but sometimes has lots of horns and other pieces that may not be as useful as bricks depending on what you are making. Plus bigger sets tend to have the best minifigs. There is a new Castle brick bucket thing. That comes with a medieval door and two windows. It would be cheaper to go via bricklink but in case you don't want to. Knight and Castle Building Set
  21. The minifig collection thing looks okay. I might get it depending on the price.
  22. The Mill looks very awesome. if its cheap I could get more than one to get more peasants. This is very promising. Glad to see more civilian sets.
  23. I think I read somewhere here that amazon was have like 20-40% off of all Prince of Persia sets. If you check now its priced at 9.00 instead of 10.99
  24. The Army Men on Patrol is no longer 5.99 but now the Prince of Persia Desert Attack is 5.49. And I just bought 3 for 8.99. Maybe I should buy three more! EDIT: I just did. Guess it gives me a chance to build up my Persian army.
  25. Was going to post this deal. Well I just ordered 3 of the Army Men on Patrol.
