I just recieved my package of 5 Prison Carriage Rescues (total of 7) and 1 Fairytale and Historic Minifigure set. More minifigs yay!

Holy crap I just found this guy's pictures by accident. Massive skeleton army

The lighting issue is because I use sunlight during the day and artificial light during the night. Plus I tend to watch tv while filming the scenes so I might start at 11am and then finish a scene at 2pm. Even though the scene itself is like 5 seconds. Yea I got a problem. Well now I have a webcam that allows me to adjust exposure, my lighting should be more consistent. But now for the most part I do most of my filming during the night to avoid the varying sunlight problem.

I thought about the Blacmsith Attack set some more and I think I will get a few copies of it to get extra blacksmiths to make peasant spearmen. And then make use of the extra armor and weapons.

So castle is fine because its generic medieval knights vs medieval knights. Does that mean other themes would be okay if they did themes like generic samurai/ninja vs others. Generic persians vs other generic persians. Generic barbarians vs barbarians. No Christans vs muslims, or greeks vs persians, or romans vs gauls/greeks/persians/everyone else.

Wow I just looked at the timestamp. It is one year old. But I enjoyed watching it. I didn't really see any minifig collectors in the video though. Most of them just had lots of bricks. AFOL A Blocumentary

Have you seen that AFOL documentary? One of the guys there probably has millions of pieces but only a handful of MOC's on display.

New Smaller Reduced LEGO Box Size?
ziljin replied to Skull-Mark_Ladybug's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I support it. Less costs for them is good for the company and the customers. Would be nice if they pass on some of the savings by having more pieces in the sets or maybe reduce the price. Although I have no clue how much that cardboard is costing them. For all I know it could be very little savings per set thus no savings for us. But massive savings for them since they no doubt make lots of sets. -
My prison tower rescue was from one month ago and from amazon.com where it was out of stock for months. So I would assume that it was a recently produced copy and not one of the old batches. Or Lego made so many of the sets with discolored pieces that they are still selling them to this day. The cheaper sets would have ran through the old stock faster.

I got a pink horse barding. I filed it recently so I wouldn't know until the replacement arrives. Weird that the replacement horse barding would also be pink. That would suggest that the issue is still happening (!) or you somehow got a older horse barding as a replacement. Assuming people handle replacements, weird that they would not notice the pink discoloration.

Well you have to, if you wanted to field a unit of armored cavalry you would have to spend like $100+ to buy more than a handful. (Going by bricklink around 5 for horse barding, 1 for horse, 3 for minifig, that's $9 per armored cavalry, suddenly the 20 dollar set does not seem that expensive). I think I want to get multiple Blacksmith Attacks now. And I will use the blacksmiths to make peasant soldiers. It would be nice to make some peasant troops with hoods or pilot helmets to serve as leather headgear. Not sure what to use for wooden shields (I guess brown tiles or plates?)

Amazing! I am envious. I remember watching that AFOL documentary and one of those guys had like a warehouse of Lego (or just a huge room) with what looked like thousands of containers no doubt filled with Lego. IIRC he said he must have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on his Lego. I want to be that guy. Except with more minifigs and less bricks. SO right now you are a role model and inspiration.

It is too bad they did not remake The Final Joust. I looked at brickset, and they only make a Jousting set like once every 7 years. =(.
-
I am sure Lego would never do this, but something like a collectible series but theme specific. So for a castle version, it would have minifigs like Ninja, Samurai, Various knights, Forestmen, Vikings, Peasants, and include the recent Persians and Spartans/Greeks. Maybe some of the fantasy ones too like skeletons, trolls, elves, dwarves, wizards, ghosts, zombies, etc.

I am probably biased from all those Total War games I played where half of the armies are pretty much peasants/peasant militia. I imagine that during feudalism, knights and nobility were outnumbered by the lower classes both in population and military? And of course the peasant troops were poorly trained and had garbage equipment. And armored knights was the premiere military power. Until they created pikes and muskets, and then armor became obsolete and poor peasants would not need a lifetime of training or lots of money in order to field themselves and defend against heavily armored knights. I was thinking about the Dragon Prison set again. If you use prices from bricklink, its a bargain really. Horse Barding - 5USD after the set is discontinued (not sure if it will be cheaper while still in production), since all the other Horse Barding are around 5USD each. Horse - 1USD Dragon Knight - 4-5USD since it has a new armor piece. Other 3 Minifigs - 9USD (3USD each) Going by bricklink prices, the remaining bricks and weapons are basically free.
-
Well I would want army building type sets. Like a chess or tic tac toe set. Or more battlepacks (and not discontinue them so quick). Or cheap small sets similar to the Knights Showdown, Prison Carriage Rescue, Escape from Dragon Prison. Even better something like the Good Knight from the 2007 Castle. It had two helmets and an armor piece! Or a cheap jousting set like The Final Joust with horse barding! And of course a civilian battlepack type set. Medieval armies often had hordes of peasants dragged into battle. Plus there are battles where peasants armed with only pikes who slaughter charging enemy cavalry.

Oops my bad. I forgot about the location thing in the profile. I was counting my minifigs, and wow the Dragon Knights have a hig ratio of "general" to soldier. I only have experience with Crown Knights/Trolls and now Lion/Dragon Knights. The Crown Knights/Trolls/Lion Knights mostly have regular soldiers with the occasional general with the special armor, helmet, or printing. While for the Dragon Knights, the sets are lacking in Dragon knight Soldiers but like half the sets has a dragon knight general! Unless you don't count the Advent Calendar or the Great Helm Dragon Knight minifig in the Prison Tower Rescue. I think Dragon Knights is my only faction where I have as many special printing torsos as I do of the regular printing torsos. And for wave 2, the blacksmith attack and escape from dragon prison come with another 2! looks like my Dragon Knight army will be mainly elite soldiers!

No I think you have money. That makes it acceptable. If I had a lot of money, I could see myself getting mass Mills, Dragon Prisons and Blacksmith attacks. Sale or not. That's lame. I am guessing Canada?

Reminds me of a Lego set, it has lots of holes in the structure, and missing the back section.
-
The cheapest way would be to design it with LDD and then buy the bricks individually from bricklink or pick a brick seeing which is the cheaper option. If you don't want to do that, you could try buying the King's Castle. It has a big price tag, but has lots of bley bricks AND comes with a lot of wall panels which are a cheap filler for your castle structure. There is also The Fire Brigade and Grand Emporium. They have lots of gray bricks too, but are more expensive and also have lots of other colors which may or may not be useful. And if you are having trouble with designs, you could try searching for pictures of lego castles/towers in google/brickshelf/flickr or even search for some castle building instructions available free for download at Lego's website. Bigger sets usually have more pieces which is good, but make sure you check Bricklink for the set inventory to make sure those numerous pieces are useful to you.
-
I would love to Bricklink but I get paranoid with buying used product. And the stores usually only sell like 1 of the minifig, The ones that sell in higher quantity tend to charge higher (probably because they know people will pay the higher price for the convenience in buying in bulk). But yea, I think you are right and I will just go for the most minifigs/price ratio. I ordered 5 prison carriage rescues and a Fairytale and Historic Minifigure set. Not too many castle minifigs in that one, but any unused torsos can be swapped out with my dwarves (I have around 20) so that means I can free up those viking/crown knight torsos. And I can always put armor pieces on some of the non-castle torsos. Might give me rainbow knights though.

I am thinking 1 Village Raid 5 Escape from Prison - I don't want to risk them not making a Joust set, and just 1 horse barding is not enough 1 King's Carraige Ambush - for the new printed horses and new King minifig 1 Blacksmith Attack - If this set had 3 minifigs it would be also a great battlepack type set. Even with only two minifigs it has tons of weapons most of them new, and an armor piece and the special Dragon Knight. Perhaps I will get extras for the armor pieces, weapons, and extra dragon knights and civilians. Total 220. Unless I want to buy some more Blacksmith Attacks or an extra Village Raid.
-
I am going to just leave it at the two I have from King's Castle and Prison Tower Rescue. But if they ever making a jousting set or cheap set similar to the prison I will get that set for the horse barding. I hope Lego makes some sort of joust set in the future and I will just have dozens of the new horse barding with the generals using the lion knights horse barding.
-
I am thinking of increasing my Lion Knights/Dragon Knights army. I definitely want more copies of Prison Carriage Rescue because it comes with 3 minifigs (one lion knight with great helm and special printed torso) and a horse (and a helmet). Knights Showdown I maybe want because it is the cheapest set with the Dragon Knights Great Helm and special printing. But only 2 minifigs =(. Prison Tower Rescue has the special lion knight great helm, printing and armor. And horse with horse helmet and barding! Expensive but has much cooler pieces. King's Castle has an alternate horse barding, and King's torso and crown and armor and tons of awesome castle bricks. I already have one of each and 2 of the Prison Carriage Rescue. For numbers I will definitely get the Prison Carriage Rescue. But not sure if I should get the other sets to get more of the cooler minifig/accessories and horse barding for cavalry. So for army builders, would you just go straight for pure numbers and buy the cheapest sets in terms of price to minifig ratio? Or would you spend extra to get more of the uncommon ones at the price of a smaller army.
