If you look closely at the recent castle minifigs. Crown, Lion, and Dragon. They all have similar torsos. The chainmail torso. And the 4 squares and the logo in the center torso. Just some color swapping and a new logo.

Just looked at the pictures for the first time. Omg. Amazing. I love the new printed horses, and the new animals. The spotted horse and pig, and the carriage printed horse. And dragon knight cavalry and he has the hinged helmet!!! The new chickens look cool too. What appears to be new civilian torsos and the return of the pitchfork! I can definitely see myself getting duplicates of these sets.

They won't do it. But I wish they would. I asked them in an email once and they said that its too expensive to keep all these molds (well Bandai does it with Gundam models, they reissue older kits all the time). They definitely could use more than 2 factions though. the Fantasy was nice, it had humans, skeletons, trolls and dwarves. Kingdoms would be perfect for several factions. Since its called Kingdoms and not 2 Kingdoms. Really if they wanted to, they could release sets for Kingdoms indefinitely since there could always be more Kingdoms. I would definitely like more civilian sets though. Or peasant militia. There were lots of unarmored soldiers in the middle ages. And peasant soldiers too.

Heat you say? Well my built lego set was in a box near the heater. So maybe that caused it to lose some grip. But no dust or discoloration. just that the plates were easy to remove compared to plates that I do not leave assembled.
-
I have some Lego from like 10 years ago and they still grip fine. Looser grip is fine by me, makes it easier to take pieces apart. Especially plates. But I had a set that was built for a few months, and I definitely noticed it was incredibly easy to remove the plates that were stacked on the plates. I guess that is the looser grip. But I like it. I hate tight grip because it feels like its impossible to remove.

Well there is always the possibility that he figured it out by himself separately. EDIT: Nevermind I see that he credited you so he did copy your design then.

Yea I have a small workplace for my films. So that happens a lot. Usually my lego "tripod" shows up. Nice. Yea this set is not bad. Wish they would have a Dragon Knights Castle. This will have to do for now.

Pirates of the Caribbean better than Kingdom?
ziljin replied to Artifex's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I could be wrong but Lego is making more minifig centric sets probably because they now realize how popular minifigs are? Look at the recent collectible series, and the battle packs. Anyway the last few sets look amazing in terms of detail. Whitecap bay looks way better than the Outpost Attack or Prison Tower Rescue. The London Escape has a nice little bar. The Mill makes another great civilian building. And has the sea creature minifig. I definitely want those three. And maybe Cannibal Escape for tree pieces and the cannibal minifigs. -
I like your upside down grass tree.

Wow that looks incredible. Great idea.

Nice to have persuaded you. It's not that bad, but it suffers the same flaw as many "medium" lego sets. Sparse interior details and missing the rest of the structure. But I guess it is to allow for better playability for children. I wish they would make castle sets similar to the Modular Homes line. Medieval Market Village is about close as we get.

They glue Lego display sets? Then again I have had sets fall apart on me at times just picking them up. Those poor bricks. =(.

Not a lot of sets focus on greenery. If you purchase smaller sets in bulk that might net you a higher ratio of greenery to price. But probably not worth it unless you also like those minifigs too. But I know the Medieval Market Village has a nice big tree. And the Lego Creator houses usually have a brickbuilt shrub or tree. And some potted plants. But I am sure you could use those multi colored cones and studs for foliage too. I think it would be nice if you had a variety of foliage. Brick built, plate built, and those specialized foliage pieces. Right now for Creator line there is: Winter Toy Shop with two of those specialized trees, and one giant brickbuilt christmas tree. Winter Village Bakery has 4 specialized trees and a pond (could help break up the greenery). Log Cabin has a brickuilt tree and it also has those tooth plates for leaves. Apple Tree house has a small sized brickbuilt tree along with two brickbuilt shrubs. And a few potted plants.

I like them both. I mostly have Castle sets because I got back into late 2009ish and by then pirates was already in the process of being canceled. Same with the Fantasy castle so I bought what sets I could afford of the castle and bought the kraken attackin, cannon battle and pirates battle pack. I wish I also bought the loot island but I did not. I would love to get more pirates sets if they made new ones so that I can have an army of pirates which can serve as pirates OR bandits. Because they look like they could pass off as both making them versatile minifigs. And the Soldiers could represent some technologically advanced kingdom while everyone else is still using swords and crossbows.

I wash my hands too and sometimes during. My he ands get sweaty whether its summer or winter. More so during the summer. For a while I tried to arrange bricks and plates so that the word Lego is facing one direction. As in the first plate reads lego, the second plate reads lego, and third plate reads lego. But I realized that was a complete waste of time and I just build them without looking at the word. As in now it might read lego, ogel, ogel, lego, etc. I always drop the pieces because my desk is rather small but I never learn from my mistake and always have my hands near the edge of the desk which results in constantly dropping pieces.

That is absolutely amazing. I really like the water near the castle. Looks like real waves! I wonder how they achieved that look.

Going to be a while before I make another stop motion building lego set video. Going to work on Lego/Gundam stop motion next.
-
I built this set recently. It is alright. I kind of regret it actually. For me the black panels and minfiigs redeem it from being a total loss. It is mostly panels and barely any black bricks. The set has lots of specialized bricks and other pieces and very few regular bricks which may or may not be a problem depending on what you kind of pieces you want out of the set. It would have been sweet if it was more of a modular castle like Prince of Persia Battle of Alamut or Kingdoms King's Castle.

I have a stop motion video linked here on the forum if you want a closer look at it. But I think its an average set. It's main color is black, but it does not come with too many black bricks. Most of the castle are just panels. Which can be useful if you are building a black castle. It also has some dark bley slopes and logs. A few bley pillars. I mostly bought it for the black panels, and minifigs. It also has a lot of those white tail pieces and prison bars. I was hoping for more black bricks, but its mostly specialized pieces.

Stop Motion Building Garmadon's Dark Fortress
ziljin replied to ziljin's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
I normally do. But I decided to follow youtube's advice in looking at which parts my viewers like watching the most. and the parts where I build the minifigs is the lowest point of interest in the videos so I figured maybe I should just scrap that part if people are not really into it. After I built it, I realize this was not money well spent. But what's done is done. I can still use a lot of the pieces for future moc's. EDIT: To make up for the lack of building minifigs here is a short film of the set. -
Stop Motion Building Garmadon's Dark Fortress
ziljin replied to ziljin's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
Thanks. I like how the technique they use to have the chain as a railing. And those giant wheels as towers. Yea the only interior is the table (whos eating?) and the prison for Nya. If you watched the NinjaGo movie this is just the front entrance of the Fortress. I don't remember the exact details but I did remember seeing something similar to this Fortress in the movie. -
I am envious of your mass forestmen. My most recent purchases would be a second copy of Battle of Alamut, Garmadon's Dark Fortress, Prison Tower Rescue and King's Castle. I hope to make some castles out of them. Might get a copy of the Basic Brick Deluxe set to get extra brown, white, black pieces for castles and the other colors for brick built trees.
-
My first and possibly last NinjaGo set. I bought it for its castle potential so I figured I would build it via stop motion before the pieces are separated forever.
-
That was my favorite line to record. I did my best to make humorous sound effects. I will probably do amateur stop motion forever but at least I should make the best amateur stop motion I can. Yea I am now using a webcam and it is much better. I bought a bunch of Lego recently (second Battle of Alamut, Prison Tower Rescue, King's Castle, and Garmadon's Dark Fortress) so the next video will take even longer but I intend to have some sort of castle or outpost in the next animation.
