  3. well thanks mates, glad you like it as for the windows, I've run out of of all prefab windows, so I had to come up with something myself. I've furthermore always felt like there should be three wide windows. Somehow I come up with the best ideas when I'm out of bricks ... as for the grinder, medieval grinders traveled like this from market to market. Often they had a monkey to accompany them and to attract more customers. I couldn't find mine though ... BTW: argh, why does nobody tell me I made a spelling mistakte?
  4. Once Haakon had been a farmer with a small but very yielding farm near Mitgardia's capital Valholl. But with the advent of the elemtal terror he had lost everything: farm, wife, kids and youth. Although not quite 40 yet, he had turned an old man over his grief. The only thing of value that he has left are an old grindstone and his two dogs, whith whom he now roams the streets of Thorshaven and her surrounding villages. A truely hard life, but at least he has some sort of income!
  5. tomche, it's not that I don't like your contributions but we kinda wanted everybody to grow as a builder from moc to moc. So maybe this fits your first or second phase one build, by now you should try to include some more stuff. That said, I think some more landscaping needs to be done in this one. Try to add some more snow or rocks or vegetation or whatever, as I think this one here is too simple for my taste.
  6. @rick: good, if not to say perfect, decission! My latest AoM contribution:
  7. in exchange for the same amount of modern yellow that is ...
  8. I kinda feel the same and I hate Lego for making it twice as expensive here in Europe. but, at some point there will be a discoutn somewhere and then I'm going to get it! BTW anyone interested in 40 fleshy heads and pairs of hands?
  9. apart from the flesh head, awesome!
  10. cool tutorial, will have to try this soon!
  11. nice build and all, but I think this mistake has been made before, Avalonia doesn't have a border with Nocturnus!
  12. hey you two, it's really cool we got you inspired to participate in GoH, since that was our main aim. However, I don't remember meeting Tomche in person, did we actually meet? As for the table, the size was not really the problem there was still lots of room left so you can add a whole bunch of more modules to the Thorshaven layout ... What annoyed me though, was the height of the table (too low for my taste) and the fact that it was really uneven under the table cloth. It really stressed the technic pins between the respective modules quite a bit. So if we can get that fixed I'm sure we can present something really spectacalur next year! BTW, what's happened to DM, havn't seen him posting in GoH for quite a while, hey maxim, are you still alive?
  13. no clue about the scene, but I really like your sigfig! Can't wait to see your first biulds!
  14. hehe, really like this! Funny way to introduce yourself to GoH.
  15. sounds great, can't wait to see more landscapes from you. I'm just totally stuck with my city ...
  16. ah sk, this screams Mitgardia, awesome! I was gonna start complaining that the houses were to short but then saw that they are cut offs. So, nothing to complain, lots to wonder about. Love it! PS: is this for the MCB? PSS: btw, there are 7 Nordheims in Germany, none in Norway though
  17. yooha, are you alright pal?
  18. thanks guys, @sebeus: yeah filling the holes is something I could do. As for the crossbeams, i do have an idea but not the neccesary bricks, so I'll just leave at this. The things that really bothers me but for which I havn't found any good solution yet is the guard rail on the poop deck. Everything I have tried out so far looks kinda dumb. So what you see now is the least dumb version ...
  19. dude, this is an old thread and all this bumping of old threads is getting super annoying!
  20. My other ships felt kinda lonly so I decided to build a new one. This time it's going to be a caravel redonda that is going to accompany my carrackon its exploration voyages. The ship itself is based on a late 15th century design in which redonda meant a square rigged three masted caravel, in contrast to the smaller lateen rigged two masted caravelles. So basically the source is Columbus's Pinta, but of course I took put in some colors of my own choice to break the "brown wall syndrome" so this is what she is based on: and this is what I have come up with so far. Constructive criticism welcome:
  21. some dude is desperately trying get banned once again! Hey mods, are you guys blind?
  22. loving it! really great Fachwerk houses and assembling them randomly, like would happen in an old town, just looks extremly well done. Good stuff!
  23. What sort of manual would you like to have? I don't quite get your request ...
  24. using round 1x1s has been shown before here, but this is my technique for attaching them to a house: @Z: it'd be really cool if you could fix this along with the other tutorials!
