Challenge I (Category B) The tower at Blood Lake
kabel replied to de Gothia's topic in Guilds of Historica
Nice bloody water, but sometimes certai algea can be responsible for this water color too. All in all really gloomy, but why I wonder is why the horse doesn't shy away from that ... -
Ah Cologne, that's 2,5 hours ... too bad I'm never finding anyone from my area here on EB. As for your ship: I'm not saying it doesn't look promising, quite the opposite! However, with only two midsections you have to be really carefull it doesn't look too cartoonish in the end. I think my ships manouver right on the edge, that's why I suggested to limit yourself to only half a brick of thumblehome

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
kabel replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Wow Kai, you're still alive Good to read from you! -
@ld: I have 8 of them now, they didn't all fit into the moc though. You should really get the Medusa from CMF 10. Her head makes an awesome female Shraliek as you can see. @Syn: actually this is exactly what I was thinking as I build the watch tower!

the usage of the round tower technique is actually rather nice and something one has to try out. What I'd change though is to distribute the colors more unevenly. Btw, why did not enter this in the AoM contest?

Book II: Challenge 1: Category B: The Ancient Toll Towers
kabel replied to Lord Vladivus's topic in Guilds of Historica
definetely your best moc so far! nice tower and an especially great irregular base! And the captured Shraliek is of course absolutely awesome. Good to see more and more people are using them, seems they will play a key role in the conflict. Way to go! Where's his fish though? -
I think most people like them so much because the second wave had two very nice civillian sets in them, something people really want and got used to. As for the first wave you are probably right.

sure just go ahead whenever you feel like it, btw, nice wooden wall

Thanks for the comments! I know I'm not the first to use the lime green, and yes me doing the snot rocks does become sort of repetitive. However, I just wanted to mark the border between Mitgardia and Nocturnus by combining these two elements. So the cave actually is a secrete entrance to Mitgardia only known to Nocturnians so far, probably made by the drow in the first place. Everything atop the cliff is actually still in Mitgardia and the swamp then the beginning of Nocturnus! So who knows what the Shraliek are going to do to Eric Grimmson and why they went out to get precisely him ...

We finally got new faces and a good amount of very useable pieces. That's why I bought the sets.

my current ships also use only two midsections and therefore I'd say that you will have to make this much smoother than what you are currently showing there. I think your extending too far, half a jumper is fine, otherwise your ship will look too chunky. I went like this: more pics here: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=522918 similar style here: In case you happened to live in northern Hesse you could also come by and see yourself

Wow, which theme are they going to be in? -
Thanks guys! Glad you like it although lime green wasn't my invention of course. @gunman: yeah, I guess Grimmson is really scared now!

Very nice Jodocus. I just really like your style and the speed at which you are finishing these excellent mocs. Seems like you're going to be the first one to complete the AoM at this moment.
-
Very nice, I love it a lot! As for the question where it belongs: I think it's really hard to say as the timeframe you're referring to could be done in both forums. I'm actually building the ships of the era (caravels and carracks) and have the wip topic here, whereas I post the final result in the History (GoH) forum. I guess both is fine, and in the end you may possibly recieve more feedback here, as the general History forum is being flooded by LOTR stuff.

RESULTS INCLUDED: Book II- Challenge 1- The Battle for Nocturnus.

Category B entry: Shraliek Camp -
After Eric Grimmson had been kidnapped by the Shraliek he was bound and taken to a cave located at the border between Mitgardia and Nocturnus, possibly leading into Nocturnus. But he couldn't tell, he had never been in these parts of the country before. Another bang on the head and he was gone again. In his dreams he saw thousands of drow raiding a country unknown to him taking every living soul that they came a across. Screaming for his life Grimmson woke up again. The walls of the cave were still echoing his sounds but he couldn't see anything. His kidnappers gave a grunt, that somewhat sounded like a laugh. But after a while it was all quiet again and all he was able to hear was the splach of two paddles hitting the water. As he was shackled he couldn't move and frightened to death by the dark he gave up his impulse to jump out of the canoe and run away. By and by the dark of the gave away to a distant light and all off the sudden the boat left the cave. After his eyes had adapted to the light again, he saw that the goblins had taken him to their camp in the middle of a swamp. The Shraliek chief-woman was already awaiting them and not far away he could see which fate the little monsters were possibly planning for him too ...

sounds cool! I'm about to finish my category B build! Unfortunately I don't have the bricks to do a cat. C build. However, GoH's dark side isn't my thing anyway ... -
Currently I have 5! WIPs on my desk, three of which concern Thorshaven! @Infernum: the k stays small, it's Bauhaus style!

I actually love the books as well the films but I hate TLG for making the line as it juniorizes the normal castle sets and jams up prices. I sometimes buy the sets though, but only when on sale as I like the parts and figs. I hate fleshies though and I have no clue what to do with all those heads and hands ...
