  1. Are we allowed to use cotton to represent steam or smoke?
  2. thanks a lot guys, hopefully there will be a lot more to this within the months to come ... @Lord V.: Antwerp is just across the channel mate, you board a ship to Dunkirque and the you're almost there, takes me four hours to drive wich is really okay by German standards. Would take me 4 hours to Berlin, Munich or Hamburg too. So why don't you come over and then travel to where it's warmer? @syn: yeah man, I really like those interiours too, but it does take a lot of bricks one could use otherwise. Hope that you Belgian guys can add something more to the project next year, an island in the harbor or some more ships would be cool @yooha: haha, the architect may have fled to Thorshaven like so many other crafstmen from all over Mitgardia, who knows. As for the Kaliphlin embassy, that's DM's work, maybe he should take some more pics and add them to the thread
  3. great stuff MKJosha! Really like the tile work and how you combined stone and wood. Worthy second phase entry
  4. first thing I look at in the morning these days as I don't have an advent calender myself ...
  5. a classic sk build i might have to say, but I mean that in a very positive sense! It's a good thing to see how your style works even in the sinister environment of Nocturnus. Great glow in the dark effects? Go Spire though!
  6. I really like this fresh and funny approach to this sometimes rather dead serious GoH project. Suppose we could all laugh about ourselves more often! Nice classic feel!
  7. looking rather awesome, good thing you didn't take her apart for good!
  8. actually the only cog with an upper deck still remaining that was ever discoverd (cog of Bremen) looks like this: So that means no forecastle at all, not steering weel and a stern caslte without door, windows etc. However, in some depcition on city sigils (for example Stralsund: ) We do see some small forecastle but that is rather detached from the rest of the ship and not very large. As you can see on this (swedish) replica: The few cogs that were actually excavated usually consited of only the hull, in the case the cog of Kampen: Therefore we do not know what the upper deck really looked like and that's why most serious replicas follow the shape of the Bremen cog. That's also the reason why I have gotten into ships from the 15th century (carracks and caravels) as we have more evidence for them.
  9. between challenge IV and V we were down to four or so! Way to go Mitgardia, you guys rock!
  10. that's a nice little GoH mash up, I really like it!
  11. More cogs sounds great to me! BTW, I don't know how far up in Gothia you live but if you ever made it to the south there is a great museum in Malmö where they are displaying and even building cogs! Unfortunately the English version of their homepage doesn't work.
  12. well thanks dg, it's good to hear that I inspire you, as you actually inspired me too! Anyways, if there was one advise I could give you for expanding Beonic it would be to work on indivdual 32*32 modules. That way you can easily work on something else once you get really frustrated with one particular piece. So currently I'm working on the w IV module, a new ship and the wf IV mudule at the same time! Also I think it would be really cool to one day exibit all the GoH long term projects at one single exhibition next to each other ...
  13. thanks for the feedback mates @sk: it might be Elon, at least it's the head, havn't really thought about it yet, guess it's up for Eccs to say whether Elon should take a stroll through the city or not. As for the wall, I actually tried to keep it simple on, as most medieval cities were actually not really able to afford a very elaborate wall, that was something for the capitals. I also keept it in light bley on purpose in order to keep a contrast between the wall and the rock formations. Instead I tried to add variation by putting in brick bricks and stuff like that. Sorta like you usually do And yes, I'm glad I finally got some bear shields, the bear being the Mitgardia sigil. So by adding them to the gate I propose them to be the official shield of Mitgardia!
  14. hehe, there are actually a lot of small stories like this all over the layout. In this case the dwarves are pissed off because the sword they bought at there doesn't fulfill their understanding of quality weapons. Now they want their money back ... So next year in Antwerpen you can have a look at the real thing and see what else is going on there
  15. I've just realized that I still havn't taken any pics of what's behind the wall, so here you go: Wall module II: some buildings are getting an interiour: Wall module III: modules w II and w III connected:
  16. good thing you took in the advise and improved, I like it like that
  17. As a sucker for everything maritime I really love this moc quite a bit! The houses are amazing, really like all the greenes you're using here! Maybe the ship could have used more shaping but it still looks really nice for your first one!
  18. Both SK and I (2 of 3 council members) gave you a positive feedback, so you can go ahead!
  19. that is a pretty good pic, love it!
  20. @moexy: F II was a king who was interested in philosophy and who was in contact with other philosophers, true (the rest of what you're saying ir more or less disputed in Germany). But I wouldn't consider him to be a genuine philosopher. Nor would I consider him a genuine musician although he did play the flute cosiderably well. That he is a great historical figure is not the question, it's just that I don't think he belongs in a line with all these other people that are being portrayed here. Nevertheless I think that the figure looks extremely well done!
  21. Wineyard, this is totally amazing, although I do think that FII wasn't really that much of a philosopher. And Machiavelli was someone I would have thought about too!
  22. @rogueang: maybe you should give this challenge its own topic and post a link to it on the first page so newcomers can see it there and decide to build for Avalonia!
  23. Despite SoT leaving I think we're are in better shape ever, which is something we really owe to Eccs, who I think is doing a great job as guild leader! So for book two it seems we have taken over Avalonia's role of being the prime guild (which we have always been anyway ) So thanks for that mate!
  24. tomsche, maybe you could use another color for the roof, maybe brown, black or even green could do the job. Other than that I like that i really looks like some kind of hut now!
