Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
kabel replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Yeah, another round of interguild trash talk, we really havn't had that in a while ... -
Amazing landscape, can't take my eyes off it!
-
Thank your McCoyed for taking the time to comment on all entries! Wow, what an effort. The same goes for some others too! @mc: the clue to these Southwerstern kind of landscapes is that I mix snot layers with normal studs on top layers. Nothing too complicated actually. In this build I didn't have much time to make it really big though ... @Nuckl: what's a TF 2 engineer?

I always enjoy your interiours quite a bit. So this one is no exception from the rule. Wish I'd build cleaner myself so I could add an interiour. However, I usually have to many supporting structures inside my buildings ...

The Algus Saga - Southern Comfort
kabel replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Guilds of Historica
So where are the drinks in this build? I thought it was called Southern Comfort ... Anyway, nice to see that you chime in into the Algus Saga as well! And, nice build too. I really like the style you have developed over the last months!- 22 replies

Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
kabel replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
well, "Heil" is something other bad people in history have been saying before and it actually turned out to be not such a good idea after all ... As for the other slogan, what do you actually wish for a foe that is already dead like Nocturnus? -
Thanks for all the comments guys! It definetely feels good to be building for GoH again! The funny thing is that I came up with most elements when I ran out of parts and had to think about others ways to continue building. For instance, I had run out of brown balcony elements, so I just used a white one. Or I was completey out of dark tan plates for the roof, so I decided to put it on fire. I think running out of bricks is the best way to come up with some cool stuff ...

#8 all the weirdos join Nocuturnus. Normal people join the other guilds, well maybe not Kaliphlin and not Avalonia either ... -
Awesome ship design, as always. Maybe the geysirs could have used a pool of hot water to rise from though.
-
very nice update, I really like what you tried to achieve here. I think it worked really well!
-
Oh my, this is really great, possibly my favourite from you yet! I really like how you already improved on your photography. Great job on that. I also like your landscaping, maybe a layer of snot rock in between the layers would even increase the kind of sedimentary rock you're tyring to portray here. I also really like your speakseasy bar, quite the place Henry would enjoy. So, it fits perfectly that you put him in there ... What really strikes me though, are your story telling ablities. So much fun, it's really a pleasure to read this. Wonder what Long is up to now ...

Thanks guys, glad you like it. Unfortunately there is always so little time to hammer out a moc and I'm a rather slow builder. Otherwise I'd take my time and come with something bigger and more detailed ... I suppose H3 kinda reflects my having grown up in Eastern Germany and therefore a more Eastern European approach to engineering and spaceflight ... sure, go ahead mate! Well, the thing is, Henry never sees those camera's that are constantly following him. I really wonder who's after him ...

wow, I really love the water effects and all the science in here!
-
wow, this is awesome! I actually had a really hard time making water on F02 myself with only 2*1 plates. So did you get to this result?

Mission specialist Henry Skyman reports that water pumps of F02 are working again!
-
Location: F02 - Lesser Drigo Tags: engineering, civil, Octan Once again it was a hot day on Lesser Drigo. H3 was still down on this hell like planet and really buisy maintaining the water pumps that had been stationed here and had a rough time running under the planet's extreme conditions. Sure, the planet was rich in water, but it wasn't like water on earth. Here the water was often located near tectonic faults and thus usually super heated. This made the water an interesting object to study as it contained a lot of rare minerals that could possibly be mined from it. But running the equiment was really difficult. The water was always close to boiling and rising from bottum of this lake, steam jets vented into the planets air making it almost impossible to breath. And, to be hit by the hot water could be really painful. So working here was definetely not that much fun! Once again, one of the pumps had given up under these conditions. H3 was send to fix to problem and so he had to walk the slippery plank all the way to the pump's control module. When he finally got there he emmidiately saw what was wrong. A loud cursing followed as usual: "Damn those software developers. I've told them hundreds of times what to do, but they don't get it. The water here is boiling so their shit simply woun't work. Damn you m**********ers in your nice and shiny labs. Damn you Octan for paying these a*****s more than paying me, ah f**k all of this" The cursing continued for a while with H3 being unaware that everthing Octan employees did, got recorded of course, even out here! Henry then decided to do, what he usually did in situations like this: He took his hammer and slammed it into the pumps control unit as hard as possible. A loud boom ecchoed through the canyon, but at least the pump was doing it's job again. H3 was relieved and made sure to get out of this place and back to the base as fast as possible. He did not want to get hit by one of those hot vents! What he had not thought about was that Octan's security officers had told him several times to be very silent at the pumps as M.A.N.T.I.S spies were said to be all over the planet. And so, attracted by the noise, an unmanned M.A.N.T.I.S drone had found it's way to this secret location ...

nice shot gunman! -
This thread is a rather mild version, the middle Earth threads are sometimes absolutely unintelligible and therefore excluding though.

You guys talking in nothing but Insider acronyms has actually made me quit reading and participating in all the pinnend topics of this board. Seroiusly, it makes me really aggressive to read it and not being able to understand what the hell you guys are talking about ...

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's glad to hear this. And heck yeah, this is once again an awesome creation, so many wonderful details to admire and lots of fun elements!

best light is usually in the afternoon, it's softer and easier to work with. On sunny days that is. The thing is, if you do it in the shade or in days of cloud cover your shutter opens a lot wider and has the colors less blurry. So yeah, either that, or you build yourself a photo box with three light bulbs and shoot inside. okay, your pics are kinda small to begin with, but this is what it kinda might look like once you work on the pic a little:

I usually take pictures outside, in the shade on sunny days, in the open on cloudy days. I then use the MS office picture manager and increase the light. After that I use Artweaver (most use gimp) and cut out the background so that it becomes completely white.

I think what some people here sometimes forget is that all staff put in their work for FREE. None of us has any advantage of spending all these hours on keeping EB running other than the occasional "hey you guys are doing a good job" comment. All of us still do this though because of our enthusiasm for LEGO, and that's pretty much all that needs to be said about it!
-
It always amazes me how much you tend to put into just a small moc. And, as I've said before, I really like that as it shows other people that it doens't nessecarily take a gigantic collection to come up with something really cool!
-
always great to look at your builds and read you stories! I really enjoy your sense of humor, gosh Dr. Long is just such a terrible person ... Anyway, I think you should take the next step and start working on your photography. Sometimes its clear and sometimes it is really grainy and your background doens't look that great either. So why don't you use a large sheet of white paper as a background and then work a little with the light settings?
