  1. What an inspirational piece. Those curved walls are just amazing but I do wonder how much stress you are putting onto these bricks, especially those 2*2 tiles. Anyway, on of the most promising wips I've seen lately! A regulator will do too ...
  2. Very cool castle, but wrong topic. For general caslte mocs please use the History main forum! However, it'd be cool to have someone of your skill join the GoH project!
  3. I can only second this. Just bought a LEGO train for the kids ... Who knows, they probably would have been given a model train instead
  4. I really wonder if there is any data available for the 2011 Kingdoms line. It was well designed, had a descent amount of sets and wouldn't have been in the way of LOTR at all, the way it's concept with a focus on the civilian side had been set up. So did it really sell so poorly that Lego doens't want to go back to it? What was the problem? I always thought it was a great wave. And why where they then picking up Castle again with the half heartedly designed 2013 wave which due to it's dragon stuff was in the way LOTR/Hobbit and consequently seemed to not sell well. These were some really curious business decission I do not understand. But now the poor sales are used in order to justify Nexo Knights?
  5. I think my biggest dissapointment is that with 2011 Kingdoms you had something really strong out there. I actually bought all the sets, the smith and the village even multiple times just because their had never been such great civilian sets, neither such amazing animal molds such as the goat or the chickens. And then you guys cut the theme short just so you can bring in Lotr and the Hobbits which were just way overprized due to their licensed nature. Castle 2013 felt really uninspired and just as we were hoping you'd be back with something great you throw out Nexo Knights under the label of castle. Actually, I wasn't annoyed by either Chima nor Ninjago simply because I don't really care for those action themes. And Nexo Knights under the action label wouldn't have annoyed me either. But when you say something is castle yet the pieces utilized can't be used in castle mocing at all, the Historic mocers feel really betrayed. Furthermore, I really don't like that you now produce pieces that have a clear millitaristic feel to them such as those dark blue wall pieces used in the castle, which in reality is nothing but a WW I styled tank if you really think about it. As for myself I try to moc towards historic accuracy, especially trying to depict the civilian sides of medieval life. Sohow could I possibly use these blue or trans orange pieces in my creations? I had really been hoping for some new factions but especially some new animal molds, especially some sheep! And last but not least, I really want to know why you guys there at Lego are thinking that Historic accuracy doesn't appeal to kids when Playmobil is doing really well selling just that in their Historic lines.
  6. As you may remember, Lego went almost bankrupt around 2000 when they tried to do stuff "kids really want" and steered far away from their classic themes. I'd hate to see that happen again. As for my language, I get your point and edited my post.
  7. that's a weird understanding of democracy, don't you think? After all we're custumers each spending hundreds if not thousands on this here hobby. So why can't we say what we want for the money that is helping to pay for the designers' saleries?
  8. Which kids are you talking about, your own? My kids (two boys 6 and 9 - prime Lego age) dont care much for it at all. They want castles and pirates and cowboys just like Playmobil has them. You know, "real" castles and pirates and cowboys and no cyber or ninja or whatever nonsense. And since they don't get these sets from LEGO they want Playmobil instead. This is something I had a hard time to understand at first since I never liked Playmobil due to its lack of building options. But hey, since my kids can't get what they want from Lego I guess I'll have to buy them Playmobil instead. Less of my money on LEGO's account!
  9. I want pre-columbian Tenochtitlan with large pyramids and priests that rip out their victims' heart!
  10. If only the colors were somewhat decent the theme would be halfway acceptable to the History mocer in terms of parts usage. But holy Megablocks this stuff is causing eye cancer for sure!
  11. Most people on EB are actually adults, so a job, one's own kids and the wife also demand time. That and playing in a band, rock climbing, travelling ...
  12. I really love all of this and hope that one of these days I will do a collab of this size with someone else too. However, where is the place Avalonia and Nocturnus share a border? Shouldn't Cedrica be in the way?
  13. I guess I should mention that I'm not generalizing but merely observing tendencies. And, as a pirate/castle fan I'm just really dissapointed about getting the boot this big!
  14. It's interesting to observe this devide over the theme across the Atlantic with the Americans being really excited and us Europeans very reluctant to accept this as a Castle Theme (myself included). It sorta serves as further argument for my thesis that Lego designed the theme mainly for the American market thus kicking their European fans into the butt big time.
  15. Woohhaa, Hinckley has come to join GoH! Welcome Sir!
  16. Wow Kai, totally don't remeber the first one, it's terrible
  17. Wow, we havn't had a Phase I build like this yet. Awesome!
  18. Yeah maybe you are right. As for myself, summer is always a big blow to my activity, but this year the Kaliphlin challenge almost killed my interest for good. There were just way too many mocs to follow ... Luckily we are having our Algus project in Mitgardia. But yeah, I think it's down to me, Eccs and Soccerkid who joined the guild within the first weeks four! years ago. Not much better in the other guilds ...
  19. Thanks for your insight Kai! The thing is that today is was wondering whatever happened to all those cool ladies that used to build here. All had a very unique style that was great to look at. Actually we had three to in Mitgardia too and I kinda miss all these great mocers.
  20. One of your best to date! The roof, the vines, the walls all just very neat! Kinda reminds me a bit of the vineyard I had once build. However, where are the folks trampling in the grapes?
  21. So, why not make a half way decent show about Pirates or knights then? Seroiusly, I don't let my kids watch Ninjago, it's too scary for them sometimes.
  22. Oh man, why is Lego destroying their classic themes again and replaces them with crap? Wonder when they will turn city into some weird action oriented nonsense. I'm almost as dissapointed as I was around 2000 when I thought Lego was out of their minds for good ...
  23. Why is it we are constantly loosing all the female members of GoH? (except for kai of course)
