REVIEW: 80058 Celestial Pagoda
lifeinplastic replied to Pchan1983's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yes, this was in the Leicester Square store last Saturday. I didn't really look at all the sets as I was mainly buying City stuff, but this one caught my eye.- 5 replies

REVIEW: 80058 Celestial Pagoda

A great review - I don't watch the show but was looking at this set in the Lego shop last weekend. What is the significance of the numbers on the torsos and why is there one missing (is that supposed to be designated to the cat)?- 5 replies

Built the open-top tourist bus set yesterday - I liked the fact the back opens and the revolving front showing the various destinations (four different ones in all - all printed tiles too). Some good building techniques and use of curved bricks. Plus, great minifigure selection and the new pushchair is a very nice and needed addition. The main negatives are the stickers of course - the set doesn't looks as good without any, but I cannot stand stickers and do not use them ever.

Looks like the new Zelda set stole all the good foliage pieces that would have been great in the jungle sets! 😂

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours

Any word yet as to what the assumed 3rd series of 2024 will be? -
Hi All, In the past year Lego has given us some figures from one of my favourite themes - the Adventurers! With Pippin Read reporting from on board the Orient Express, Prof Kilroy assuming the role as curator of the Natural History Museum and Johnny Thunder exploring the wildlife of Asia it is reassuring to think there is still interest in these characters. I'm not sure if we'll ever see a full return of the theme - perhaps the current action themes like Ninjago and Dreamzzz are more appealing to kids these days? However, I would definitely love to see more and so, just for fun, I'd be interested to know what others would like to see, based on the following... 1) A return of the theme - perhaps the most unrealistic option, but where would you like the team to re-visit or perhaps new horizons yet to be explored? 2) A one-off new set tribute for the theme (something along the lines of what the 10305 Lion Knights Castle set offered for Castle fans) - what would you want to see included? 3) A remake of one of the original sets (similar to the 10320 Eldorado Fortress offering for Pirates fans) - which set would get your vote? 4) A themed collectible minifigures series - which 12 characters would you pick and what would be included?

Latest news about Lego animal moulds
lifeinplastic replied to Roebuck's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It's a valid question @Lion King - personally I think we will eventually see more variation in animals but not for a while as it has taken long enough to get to the stage where a number of new animals are released each year. I'm not that bothered about getting more dogs but I would like to see an alternative seagull without outspread wings. However, there are still so many 'basic' animals that are not available so I would like to see these made first (e.g. a giraffe, wolf, kangaroo, panda, hippo, zebra...). I like the fact we are now seeing young animals too and ideally more variety will follow (even if this means being able to 're-pose' the animal with movable limbs, etc, so they look slightly different, like with the gorillas).- 5,876 replies

I live on the outskirts of London and we have so many foxes living here. I had a friend from France visit and he was taking photos as if it was so unusual and my friends and I didn't know why it was so fascinating, as it it completely normal and expected to see foxes running about here. Hopefully foxes can also appear in a Lego City (urban) set too!- 5,876 replies

I've already been waiting for several decades! I agree about the actual absence of jungle-ness. Also, I think Johnny Thunder would struggle to find too many red pandas riding around on a quad bike!- 5,876 replies

The new animals do look great - I particularly like the olive crocs. Lego slowly catching up with Playmobil! p.s. I might stop moaning about that one day when Lego also has their own okapi, manatee and anteater families!- 5,876 replies

Looking at the new jungle sets, Lego has done a great job with the new animals. Those crocs look great in olive green (a shame the junior croc isn't also the same colour). Great to see Johnny Thunder back and showing up the other minifigures in the sets as to how a true explorer should look! A bit frustrating that, rather than putting the focus on these wonderful areas of the planet and providing plenty of foliage to create these habitats etc, Lego has to always include such huge abrasive vehicles. Red pandas will become even more endangered with those quad bikes driving around the forest! I much prefer Playmobil's Wiltopia theme when it comes to showcasing wildlife exploration. However, I won't complain that Lego now seem to be introducing more diverse animals, including younger animals. Safari Park subtheme next year with smaller vehicles please, Lego!

Me too! Looking forward to seeing if there are any nice surprises (e.g. things not yet revealed). The tram looks a decent set, although I would have preferred a different colour but this could easily be amended.

That’s interesting Slegengr. You are right that this does have a Dino Island vibe, especially with the crane. Perhaps some trees would work well to show this is a jungle outpost. I never particularly like Dino Island as a theme and was relieved when Johnny and the gang went back to ‘real world’ locations as part of the Orient Expedition subtheme. I always wondered where the next adventure would be - Polar Exploration, the Andes, Ancient Greece, Australia?

I was never sure who Gabarros was working for as he was in two sets - one where the box shows him in a boat with Palomar and the other in one with Johnny & Kilroy. Would this have been clarified in some of the corresponding media/magazines? Max only came in a small River Raft set too but with a surname like Villano he must have been one of the bad guys! I really like the outpost build too!

It's actually rather good! If we're talking dreadful cars, the one in set 2962 was actually part of an official Lego set! 2962 - Search results | Brickset -

Has a Friends animal mould ever found its way into a City (or other minifigure based) set? I always thought a beaver would be a good shout for the CMF being an animal not too large. Anyway, curse those Heartlake City folk for again having an animal needed on Planet Minifig (still waiting for those llamas, sea lions and sloths)! 😩 Here’s hoping Lego have a Safari Park City subtheme up their sleeves for next year and we finally get those zebras, hippos, rhinos and giraffes I’ve spent decades yearning for!- 5,876 replies

I think the problem with the harbour set is it doesn't know whether it wants to be a commercial/transportation port or a more civilian location. I personally would have preferred more of a marina with a selection of smaller 'leisure' boats and a seafront restaurants. Others (as mentioned a few posts up) want larger cargo ships too. In the end we don't really get either! I doubt I'll end up buying this. However, I have been wanting something similar to set 6543 Sail 'N' Fly Marina for some time and this does seem to have some resemblance with the red crane.

Pfffh! I don't know enough about D&D so I'm telling myself the characters exploring these dungeons are often accompanied by a flamingo companion, particular coral-coloured ones! :-D- 5,876 replies

Not sure how I fell about that - I mean a lot of us would love an Adventurers comeback but I don't really want anything watered down.

I’d also add to the PAB comment that this only provides existing animals so no new moulds or re-colours (which would have been most welcome in the Medieval Village set)- 5,876 replies
