Dying laughing, well done

That was the standout for me too Saw them right away and thought "wait, can it really be that my lego people have never had scissors?" Kinda hoping for a city ribbon-cutting ceremony set now, or a Minifigures.. Dressmaker? Barber? Kindergarden teacher? Look at all them possibilities! Ooh and now I see that balcony railing everyones going on about, very cool. Oh and trans-orange chain has a new companion, trans-purple chain! But for me, I still just want the scissors. Extra Edit: And the old seashell pieces have a big ol' momma? So... do the hairpieces still seem to have clearance for regular fig shoulders? And is the theme's full name Elves: The No-Stakes Quest for Gaudy Magic Hairbrushes?

Contest Turtle Contest Poster revealed!
SpiderSpaceman replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Oh man I'm sorry Yatkuu, I didn't look at the names of the builders, and I didn’t realize the entries were from this community or that it was peer-judged. I was thinking it was judged by a Lego Ideas employee and it was a knee-jerk reaction in shock that a representative of a kids' toy company (c'mon you know what I mean ) would put something kind of morbid in such prominent display. More importantly though, it wasn't cool to smacktalk your work, definitely wouldn’t have said it if I was at all thinking that the creator was gonna see it. I’m not personally against dark humor so honestly I’m probably not even offended by it (except for the clip to clip connections, there’s no forgiveness for that - but at least it wasn’t the fatal clip-and-bar-in-same-plane connection). Congrats on your placement though, and sorry again for my negative comment earlier.- 29 replies

Jesus, 2 is gruesome. A turtle that died trying to flip itself over (and it's built by clip abuse to boot)? Why would that win?- 29 replies

Latest Chima Purchases ?
SpiderSpaceman replied to Peasantseverywhere's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yesterday I got the one that looks like Bono and comes with the giant zombie mammoth... It's pretty great! -
So I actually thought the same thing, but apparently there are more dark skinned female faces - they're just disguised as non-human Obscure Jedi to the rescue! My intention was actually to suggest them as reading to Praiter Yed, rather than suggest them as models. I probably should have stuck in more quotes, but it was kind of an extension of the "definitely read book seven" that you said

And definitely supplement it with the stories Everything's Eventual and Low Men in Yellow Coats. Mccoyed, does your last book 1 build involve the Minifigures Fortune Teller's tarot cards? Also, I hope you have lots of pink for the end of book 3...

Dress my Exo Suit Mini-challenge - Entry thread
SpiderSpaceman replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Ditto on HJM makes amazing things. Extra love on account of picking Ice Planet. The boulders are just decoration and could be taken out and the little bots are detachable modules of the suit. The real issues with entering this are the physically available part colors and official figure pilot rules. But gaaaah it's so good... -
Oh my god, yes Groundskeeper Willie! Also, Sideshow Bob. Ooh, Carl, Lenny, and Moe.

How great is that? On the whole, still loving Mixels.

DC Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussions
SpiderSpaceman replied to Ezekiel2517's topic in LEGO Licensed
Holy crud the two sides of his head make him two different characters As in the smiley side is legitimately Tlano of Planet X, but the other with the stubble and the exercise band and crazy face has got to be Bruce from Batman R.I.P. Edit: I guess that has probably already been discussed in the proper 2014 topic though -
DC Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussions
SpiderSpaceman replied to Ezekiel2517's topic in LEGO Licensed
Lego movie batman face is sublime. Even as all the DC sets frustratingly (for some) turn out to be batman sets, what the LEGO Batman 3 game is allowing to happen is: the release of anything DC disguised as a Batman set, because the game puts a cosmically broadened Batman story into the minds of the target audience. (This isn't a statement about the order of development, just the order of release. Lego knows they're priming bat-minded kids for wider DC future set releases) Same thing I was thinking, such an obvious choice for Sinestro I worried they were retiring the mold. But I've got 3 Zods from the 3 Man of Steel sets, leaving me with spare hair if I keep one armored and the other two showing each face of the two sided head. -
LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (Video Game Discussion)
SpiderSpaceman replied to The Joker1's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
I'm with you on not understanding how arkillo and larfleeze could ever be confused. However, Larfleeze is in the game as seen 1:24 into the new trailer (on screen with Flash and GL) Me, I'm still just waiting for the giraffe blue lantern :P -
True, I've noticed that catalog leakers have skipped the whole section in the past. All the other forums lighting up with new pictures, constraction loses out. Not because the content wasn't there, just because the leakers are maliciously omitting it (joking!) So, nobody thinks a smidgen of this could be seen at Comic Con if it's actually happening?

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (Video Game Discussion)
SpiderSpaceman replied to The Joker1's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
I'm sure they will have representative members from the different corps, at least the leaders and the human members*, but on top of that, a line from the press release seemed to imply that the League and Co. will be assigned power rings at some point: "...the power of the Lantern rings bring unexpected twists to the classic characters’ personalities." Back to representative members, for greens in particular I'd bet on a bigfig Kilowog. Other non-humans that would make good picks: Ganthet the guardian, Dex-starr, that beautiful, beautiful Blue Lantern Giraffe, Arkillo (talk about popular demand)... I'm sure some Corps will have generic members to brawl against. I think Lanterns should take up between 12 and 22 out of the 150-ish character slots. *Leaders: Sinestro, Saint Walker, Atrocitus, Larfleeze, whoever the heck speaks for Indigo Humans: Hal, John, Carol (probably not Baz or Rankorr or any non-Carol Sapphires, maybe Guy and Kyle) -

Awesome, yeah I know, I shoulda done that in the first place LOBO needs to be in this game. With Boba Fett's gun and grenades, Aragorn's tracker abilities, Indy's whip attack and tug, and Wolverine's healing abilities. And his space bike. -

Legends of Chima 2014 Discussion
SpiderSpaceman replied to Aethersprite's topic in LEGO Action Figures
No, you're right, "pig". Front's post states clear as day: LoC action figures are happening. I don't know what the first two repliers were looking at. (no offense meant, guys, but your understanding was the polar opposite of what was said) -
I shun all of Lego's recent TV series promoting the sets, just in honesty, not to be a jerk to the fans. I witness a lot of people perceiving the sets as depicting the TV series, when really, the lifeless (opinion!) TV series are depicting the richly designed (fact!) sets. People will clamor for sets or figures based on things they saw in the show and I feel like that's totally backwards. I'm most happy having nothing more to go on than the set itself, the background art, and the catalog blurb. That's what a Lego theme is to me. Ninjago the show, for instance, doesn't capture the rich feel of Ninjago the Lego theme for me at all, and that's just the characters and settings. The unLego-ing of the vehicles just makes the great shapes and angles comprising the sets into bloated Veggie Tales-y balloon animals. The sets' comically heavy-metal skeleton vehicles all turned into this. (I'm sorry, Larrymobile. You know you're awesome.) So the little Nixel faces betray the ties to cartoon graphics and the simultaneous development, but I mean, I like the TV Mixels as graphics. I'm cool with seeing that the sets and mixes can depict simple cartoon monsters - that's a tool to help you see that any little monster you wanna make can be realized with the same little shapes and pieces. Also I could dig them as a pack of stickers , or hey! a DK mixel encyclopedia/combo instruction companion book, with builds and cartoon depictions side by side. It's just the antics of the shorts that are nothing too great. However, while I personally don't have much use for the show, the propaganda and intentional oddness of the whole thing serves an important purpose: see my final paragraph. Mixels are Lego sets. Not cartoon merchandise. And they are good at being lego sets because they have bright colors, interesting but simple and endlessly versatile shapes, joints aplenty, a smattering of special parts to inspire and challenge, including eyes and teeth to tie it all together into little monsters and animals. And what's truly astoundingly special: Promoting rebuilding as a regular part of the play - "and they're walking over here and then they blow up and turn into this!" - without stepping outside of the "rules" of playing with the official little sets. Just inherently leading by example, the theme says these guys blow up and turn into bigger blendy monsters on a regular basis, that's their everyday life. It's anything goes and it's totally unpredictable. (That's your cue, kids and kids-at-heart! Your creations are just as valid as ours! Build as zany and dumb as you want, we started you off that way, so you literally can't go wrong!) And this heavily encouraged rebuilding is a fantastic experience because, duh, the figurines are made of LEGO.

Thanks for the feedback everybody! In regards to building instructions, I made them all on LDD but there are lots of substitutions for the tooth and joint parts. Also I don't have a clue what my brickshelf login info is (so yknow, I don't know where to share ldd files) Hope the sets have started showing up for everybody. 3rdeye88, definitely some heavy resemblance (bit less gremlin-y ears) Right before brickset's mixels contest started I reshuffled my 9 mixels into the same color combos (the traditional double-mixel mixes happily qualify for entry ) Round Two! (It's weaker than the first go in my opinion) Shuff x Volectro = "BoxerSnail!" Flain x Seismo = "Dudbert!" Zaptor x Vulk = Krader x Teslo x Zorch = Some of the things I stumbled on from the construction of these made it into some more thought out maxes, which I've built for the aforementioned contest (haven't photoed them yet)

Using each mixel once, mix three unique combos of 2 tribes and one mix of all 3. Here be mine! Jump in and share yours! Shuff x Teslo = "Holla!" Flain x Krader = "Walrunt!" Volectro x Vulk = "Fuzzpatch!" Seismo x Zaptor x Zorch = "Fishy Dave!"

Bfahome, I almost got really excited about the "creative ambush" set because I thought the kebab stand boosters were attached with what you're describing but.. it turned out they were just old, Doc Ock arm-y, click hinges. Do we have a general "mix" sharing topic? (not discriminating murps from mixes) Cause I was thinking to start one or even kind of a set up with a lil rule like: mix the following from the 9 unique series one mixels: electroid*infernite electroid*cragster infernite*cragster electroid*infernite*cragster Which I did, and it was fun.
