  1. Amazing technical solutions. Very well done 👍
  2. 88012 has got a replacement which is equal but the battery lid is screwed in place. I assume it is due to some regulatory/safety issue with the earlier battery lid which only had clips for easy/convenient opening ☚ïļ. You'll find the replacement battery box if searching on Bricklink for Powered Up parts ! https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=bb1277c01#T=C Regarding 88005, I haven't got a clue....
  3. I'd say, not later than November 1st 😁
  4. You've made a really good overview of these three systems. Still I like to mention a couple of things which could be included: PF: The possiblity to build your own drivelines using technic Lego stuff, choosing gears etc + M, L or XL motors, combined with small or large battery boxes.... PuP: Same as above, but with PuP series motors and battery boxes. And the possibility to use the 4ch Technic PuP hub with 1-2 train motors, lights/sensor etc, all controlled with custom programs made in the PuP app.
  5. I'm confident that the metal part in the upper half, cuts through the insulation and makes electrical contact with each conductor. That's fairly standard procedure for connecting ribbon cables. (Just answering to the first part of your post, here) Hence, you shall NOT remove any insulation....
  6. Very nice post ! Thanks for sharing valuable technical information to the community!!
  7. ...Inflation....increased margins....anyone ?
  8. My Swedish small town- Klossboda display april 2022
  9. I'm almost 100% certain 10020 never was sold in Light bluish gray. So, I think you have bought a replica. Hope you struck a good deal....but the model itself is beautiful nonetheless...
  10. Looks very good. 8-wide is SO much better to achieve an accurately looking Santa Fe locomotive 🙌👍👌
  11. Great job capturing the essence of this train.....I am starting to warm to the thought of making a go myself ☚ïļðŸ‘ŒðŸ‘
  12. It sounds like you are focusing on the 2ch PuP City hub, but if you can consider (have space for) the bigger 4ch PuP Technic Hub, you can attach your 3 motors and create a custom program in PuP app to control all of them from a smart phone. Using only one hub ! (with AA batteries as a bonus) I prefer to use std PuP train motors when possible, for simplicity and reliability reasons. Here's an example of my Rc "work horse" locomotive using the bigger hub with two train motors and two sets of led:s. It works really well.
  13. Most MOC builders stay in the range of 6-8 wide trains, especially if the length of locos and wagons are built proportional to chosen width. (the wider -> the longer) With Lego standard train track and R40 curves and switches, any train exceeding 8-wide will look ridiculous in my opinion.
  14. Personally I think your designs look completely out of proportion to be called minifig scale... How do you even calculate 1:35 to be "accurate"? I lean towards a scale more based on minifig height. The typical minifig is approx 4 cm high, and an average male human approx 180 cm => a scale of approx 1:45. Typical train wagon overall width (which is approx same in Europe and US !! ) is 300-320 cm. Divide by 45 => 6,6-7,1 cm or 8,3-8,9 studs. Conclusion: an 8 stud width is just alright to be considered "minifig scale". As for parts count=> added weight => an increase of scale from 1:45 to 1:35, equals in a design which is 2-3 times heavier, provided increase in scale is applied for lenght and width and height.
  15. Oh boy....this is technically speaking, far beyond my understanding 😁however I do appreciate the amazing work you have put into this project, to make such a complicated system work.... ! It is really next level for the hobby 🙌👌👍
  16. Indeed a very nice build 👌🙌👋ðŸŧ
  17. I too build 8-wide locomotives, but 7-wide rolling stock. As mentioned before, the choice is because of weight, but also because I found some design advantages for using the odd number of bricks for wagons. I have participated in some exhibitions over the years and visitors practically never says anything about the wider locomotives, so I suspect that means the 7-8 wide combo works. I should mention my locos are typically exactly 8-wide, without protruding handrails or so! But for rolling stock I often have handrails or protruding details etc....so this makes the width more "equal" when looking at a 8-wide loco with attached 7-wide wagons....
  18. Always amazed by the amount of details you manage to squeeze into your models, Ashi. And those light emitting cables, what a great idea. 👍👌🙌
  19. Epic ðŸ˜ē👌🙌
  20. I guess it'll be a PV 444 (or the updated PV 544). Amazon is probably my personal Volvo design favourite but I'd guess those lines are more difficult to catch in such limited scale.
  21. As usual, fantastic research, background story, attention to details and amazing overall presentation 👌🙌👍 I take my hat off
  22. Oh, it looks stunning 👍
  23. When speaking about PuP hubs suitable for trains, I'd say boost hub is a "no". So for the moment I consider we have two usable hubs: 1) city hub = 2ch PuP hub to my terminology, in my previous post. 2) technic hub = 4ch PuP hub to my terminology, in my previous post.
  24. About the five channels, I think Lok24 is refering to the five different colours the PuP remote and hub can show to indicate which hub you are controling. (if controling multiple hubs with one remote) I copied a text I believe is relevant from the time PuP was introduced; An interesting feature of the LEGO Powered Up system is that if you build two or more hubs into the same train, and give them all the same channel color, you can drive up to five train motors in sync by connecting them to the same output on each hub. This is especially useful for long trains. In addition, you can use two motors at the same time from the same controller with one motor having its polarity reversed. This is done by turning the button interface to the direction of control needed. This feature is very handy for operating vehicles where you want vertical control for forward/backward drive and horizontal for steering. end of copy... ! Note: I believe the a/m text is only applicable for 2ch PuP hub, since that is the only hub you can pair automatically with PuP remote. When using the bigger 4ch (Technic) PuP hub, the PuP remote won't work automatically. New software from PYbricks, or a custom program in PuP app would be required in this case.
