It is of course unusual and should be avoided....but I can appreciate e g this R40 switch modification: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/157375-9v-switch-modification/ It is still 100% Lego, compared to buying a 3rd party solution.... going either route is mostly accepted though, in this forum. As long as you're happy, do what you want....π

Really nice, with lots of interesting details to see. Perhaps too much vegetation so close to the track... ππͺπ

[MOC] DB Class 01 Steam locomotive w/ passenger car
Selander replied to -DoNe-'s topic in LEGO Train Tech
I'd definitely prefer a LBG roof for a DkGreen coach. It's just a better looking colour combo IMHO π -

Nice part proposal π Such roof ending would certainly make it look much "lighter"/slimmer... Also I fancy the LBG colour, that may be an improvement itself over DBG. Isn't it easy to propose changes to other people's designs ...?(!) π -
[MOC] DB Class 01 Steam locomotive w/ passenger car

Agree with others....a nice improvement π Much more balance for the complete set π€ Down to the finer details now: I'm not convinced about the passenger coach roof...it has a bulky/heavy feel to it ... profile or thickness, I'm not sure.....unfortunately I don't have a constructive suggestion for change....π₯΄ -
[MOC] DB Class 01 Steam locomotive w/ passenger car
Selander replied to -DoNe-'s topic in LEGO Train Tech
Wonderful locomotive....ππ€ I looked at some pictures, and on those the tender was slightly higher than your design. Also, on those pictures, the top roofline of passenger wagons looks to be slightly lower than the cabin roof of locomotive. On your design it looks as wagon is higher than loco. Maybe just my observations, but ....I adore the loco itself so I'd try some tweaking/redesigning/lowering the passenger wagon to make the complete "set" look more balanced. -
I am referring to Crocodile 10277 which in fact has a 6 2/3 - 7 wide body. Hence it is very proportional to go with my suggested 7wide OE coaches. Note that I count 7w width over actual body and/or running boards. Not outside cosmetic rods/hand rails or such.

This is solely a question of personal taste and preference... For me, I like passenger trains that look low, long and sleek. The EN locomotive has got nice proportions, but OE coaches are out of proportions considering their ride height, and length*height*width... Consequently I'd prefer making a complete rebuild of OE coaches to be slightly lower and with format as e g 7wide*48/50studs with ball bearing bogies for reduced friction. I'd keep the lovely external color scheme and try to maintain most of the interior. Those coaches could be pulled by an EN or a croc. All this is imaginary...and will likely not be built by me...but I look very much forward to seeing all lovely MOD:s that I am sure this highly talented community will produce.

Proportionwise, I'd prefer lowering the OE wagons instead of making a beautiful loco higher.

Nice video and summary πππ

Please elaborate...!

And colour-wise, despite all doubts expressed in this thread, I'am convinced it is DarkBlue (earth blue) and Pearl gold windows and detailing.... And tow ball connections...!

Nice design ! A true 7813 "restomod"
-
Same here π

I think it is definitely Dark blue. Depending on light conditions that nuance look very different. As an example have a look at two pictures of my Swedish Da locomotive in Dark Blue. The second picture looks nuancewise very similar to the leaked catalogue pictures of OE.

Yes, we can !

Very neat and tidy solutions ππ I envy your engineering skills !!

Fully agreed. Can't be summarised better ππ

Looks like standard large drivers on steam locomotive just as I predicted. I'm most surprised they choose snot:ed windows for the passenger cars, that looks exactly like my own passenger car design with 51239 sideways as windows π And 8-wide... that's a bonus !!! Hope pictures are authentic.

Fantastic selection of trains ! And that layout πππ

I guess they'll take what's already available on the shelf = 85489a and 85489b

Agreed. I appreciate having a few 88012 of the old convenient easy-to-open version βΊοΈπ -
88005 Powered Up Lights and 88012 Technic Hub
Selander replied to idlemarvel's topic in LEGO Train Tech
As mentioned earlier, probably due to the new screwed battery lid. (earlier version of 88012 had only clips ...) Both 88005 and 88012 are available on Lego.com in Sweden as well. -
Correct. It should be 21344 in the topic headline...mistake by original author.
