This is an artifex review of the Mystery Mansion. Apologies if it's already been posted here I don't follow this thread thoroughly.

I can testify to this. I have tried myself, and I can't get anywhere with it.

Yeah I'm not going to remember any of them. I don't see much purpose in names anyways what with them having no personalities.

Star Wars Constraction 2015 Discussion
Mutant Orc replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Ah right thanks. Someone said I think that they didn't like Vader having a flat technic back- "Vader's helmet was the center of the life-support system. It was fitted with an air pump, which was connected to a flat filter system worn on Vader's back. " That sortof provides some form of explanation that might make it a more acceptable part of the design... from here- http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Darth_Vader%27s_armor -
Star Wars Constraction 2015 Discussion

I'm currently watching the Empire Strikes Back because I fancied it, and I'm questioning TLGs choice of making the Return of the Jedi Luke not tESB Luke. tESB Luke would be much nicer parts wise- he'd probably have a pair of flesh hands and flesh forearms (his sleeves are rolled up) and his colour scheme would be dark tan. That means he'd have a massive appeal to those who don't care for the figure or the license as a great parts pack in comparison to a black Luke, not to mention it's from what's surely considered the most iconic scene from the entire franchise where Vader tells him "No...I am your father," [spoiler! XD] . That would make it an even better seller surely? Wait when did we see the back of Vader??? Talking of Vader, I've been looking back at the main first image (and gosh he's ridiculously sized he looks over bulked) http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/uploads//gallery/album_292/gallery_7500_292_32648.jpg and I'm thinking he could've done with maybe having the fabric around the legs as seen well here- http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/soulcalibur/images/0/0c/Sc4-darth-vader.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20081120233924 -
Thanks for the review! This set looks cooler than I had thought looking at some of the official pics. I'd just like to mention that I agree with Aanachir here, I like how Onua actually is rather gorilla like.

It could've been nice to see Gali and her Protector using normal trans blue bones (afterall the Protector came with the trans blue armour...) to differentiate from Kopaka. I spose they wanted to carry on using the parts from the Chima ultrabuilds, and it's likely that those who live in North America would probably disagree with me on that possibly as they missed out on those parts when Chima introduced them (which is a bit crazy really).

So is mine [especially if we have the one dollar equals one pound conversion here in the UK but I have hope due to Tahu and the Stormtrooper having similar parts count and the RRP is the same in $ so it might equate to fifteen quid not twenty, same with Vader and MM v SG, he might be twenty five quid as the RRP in $ is thirty for both of those sets.] -

There are more pictures on the other Star Wars Constraction discussion thread. Edit- Oh wait I realise what you mean, no that's the only 2016 we have pics of to my knowledge. It's Darth Vader, Luke and them on the other thread. -

Thanks for the pictures! Wow Luke's calf muscles are huge! -
Fair points as always. Ahah! I remembered what it was I was going to say! Isn't it odd that the first wave had 3 'masks' a set (Normal, gold, Skull Spider) but not this one? Maybe they used the money for a Skull Spider on making masks blended, or they just decided that because their story significance was over there was no need for them which is fair enough. It would have been nice though to have gotten (dark?) red and purple Skull Spiders though as they are obvious and prominent in the comic strips. They could have fitted in 2 purple ones and 2 red ones in the smaller sets (MM v SG has three masks already and it'd be awkward there). Obviously though it's not a grevious loss really.

I think transparent masks would have been better perhaps just because we'd have a nicer and more sensible variation of masks i.e. normal, gold and transparent, whereas we have normal, gold, some transparent and some blended, which seems 'messier' and less uniform. Gold slapped on things randomly always seems a bit tacky to me anyways, so the gold masks weren't a big thing for me and so nor are the blended ones. Thanks for posting the videos. Voxovan you beat me to it! I spent too long typing and revising what I said above to be the first to mention it! It could well be Makuta as trans purple is his colour but would they bury him next to Ekimu who they admired after the nonsense he caused? did they even find his body..? It could well be Onua blasting out from something as well mind or Basher...we'll have to see. I swear I had something else to say here as well but I can't remember. oops.

Nice trailer, shows some interesting stuff but I can't understand what's being said hah. I assume it's standard fare stuff? On another note I swapped out the black limbs with the trans green armour on the Protector of Jungle replacing them with Skull Slicer's bones and the same solid green shade plates as found on Lewa. It works nicely and looks good because then both the blended colours on the mask are present and also the protector looks more like a pair to Lewa as well.

Very true. I did admittedly not notice it at first with this model it was more about LOSS than anything. It's of no real matter anyways.
-
I've still don't quite get why they don't give these things accurate numbers of legs. Surely it must mislead or baffle some children calling things spiders but then making them look like insects when in fact they're arachnids... Overall I actually think LOSS is better. His face, however silly some might find it, works better than the head given to this one, and his body shape and how filled out it was is more appealing to me personally. Scorpio looks rather gappy and his rib-shell doesn't cover him sufficiently. Like it's been said previous as well, the Technic and the function in LOSS felt integrated well, whereas with this not so much. That might sound very negative but I find that the set still has some 'charm', some of these angles make it look rather menacing and the parts selection is arguable better. If I was to judge solely on what they're based off though I think LOSS would come tops there too. It looked more like a spider than Scorpio looks like a scorpion. Still a nice set, and thanks for the review(s)!

Yes indeed. Do we have any idea of what the prices might be in Sterling? Will the $34.99 translate into £34.99 or will it be £29.99 or some such similar price...? -
Ah thanks Leewan. http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=111753 and an example of what I meant by talented people implementing them well. Arguably simple, but undeniably effective. I saw this before starting to mod mine and so I tried to do something slightly different but this seems to be the best way.

I'm afraid I don't quite know how to upload an image nor do I have the means of doing so on hand. I can tell you though that the top part is roughly as wide as this bubble armour but some of the spikes on it stick out slightly more. The problem I had with it is that it sticked out significantly from an armour plate. Whereas say with this the sides come down to the same level as the bottom of the side-panels* of an armour piece, this new one sticks out so far that the bottom of its sides reach the same level as the top of the armour piece, so if you want it to fill some kind of gap, say around the shoulders to make a character look bulky, it can't do it so well because it sticks out leaving a big gap making it look weird. I hope that makes some sense to you, but I'd like to quickly add this next point that I imagine it'll depend quite a lot on the build of the model you're using it with. There's bound to be a use for it, but I've only just got my hands on them and I'm not a talented MOCer. Someone will find a way to use them it'll just take some thought and the right build. They don't look too bad on Skull Grinder/Kulta afterall... I'd advise you to try and keep an unbiased view on them as you might have great fun with them, but currently for my skill level and the build I was doing it was a bit awkward. Admittedly, I did manage to use them in the end, not on the arms but connected to the top of the shoulders on the body, however I'm not sure if I'm very fond on the way I have done it... *(what I mean by side panel are the bits that would cover the side of a bone when you snap the armour on the front of a bone) Sorry for no pics, maybe someone else will be able to help, and sorry folks for the long post.

I've noticed when looking at the friction joints in these new sets that the inside part is black now rather than transparent, which makes me think how silly it is that they haven't recoloured the rest in black as well. Not that it's a bother with these characters due to their silver and grey intensive colour scheme, but when building with a non grey style it'd be nice to have black ones, such as on Onua and maybe Kopaka and Tahu too. Seeing as they've phased out the short upper leg part it black though and are only making it in dark grey for several reasons we've discussed in the past it's probably not going to be made in black at all is it? Especially seeing as there have been several opportunities to do so that've been missed. Edit- I've been messing around with making some mods to Warrior, nothing impressive or groundbreaking of course, and I'm finding that this new armour add-on is a right pain. The shape and size is rather awkward, so it's not my favourite at this stage. I think I prefer the piston add-on that the first wave introduced

Hmm. They seem a bit weird even for Mixels. Not entirely convinced that I'll like this wave much, but thanks for sharing. Maybe the rest will be better.

My Skull Slicer, Skull Warrior and MM V SG arrived today. They're all rather nice with their trans colours and designs, but there is of course room for tinkering and improvement. Ekimu is alright but I'm not really bothered by him. I'll probably just rebuild him closer to the design of one of the better protectors and use his gearbox and that for mocing.

Is that trans dark green plating/armour? I didn't even know there was such a thing! And I can't find it on Brickset... [then again I'm not great with identifying parts and finding them] Where's it from? Anyways, it looks great! Much, much better than the original. Love the designs on these mocs you've been making recently. Thing is I don't have anything particularly interesting or informed to say a lot of the time so I don't always comment because I wouldn't want to spam with generic sounding compliments! shame we don't have a system of being able to like/heart a post like you can on tumblr...that's rather beside the point though. Good work!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Mutant Orc replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Yes it's rather cramped. I've only just turned my attention to modulars actually, and so I have a lot of other Lego interests, so I'm not so bothered about what comes next as long as whatever it is is executed well. Along with the lack of maneuvering room in the DO in places I wasn't keen on how they had the stairs create a big hole in Al's and how along the side of the brown alley building there was a height of about 2 bricks missing from completing the Highlander's wall. I didn't think the story worked well either in the set to be honest, there wasn't even a door to separate the illegal kitchen from the stairs up to it and the whole smuggling route made no sense seeing as they'd have to move the barrels past the Detectives door anyways to get them down... Hopefully the next one will be more like the Parisian restaurant- complete on the inside and outside, and as far as I'm concerned, not demanding any immediate attention for mods to be made.
