Technic 2020 Set Discussion
grego18f replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I personally hope this tendency will note appear for the 2020 ultimate... I am not really a fan of the Senna. In my opinion, there are other models which are much more appealing... But that is just my opinion -
42083 - Bugatti Chiron
grego18f replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
If the suspension arms are built well and the wheel hub connected properly, it is certainly the disk brake which is not completely inserted into the wheel hub. You should hear a "click". -
Ok . Indeed, motorizing it the other way could lead to gear lock as the gearbox is designed to run the engine thanks to the wheels and not the opposite. Looking forward to seeing your video!

Technic 2020 Set Discussion
grego18f replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You are true @vectormatic. But you can have an efficient 8 speeds gearbox. It is the case of the McLaren 720s by @Charbel (I reproduced the chassis from photos and video) or even the Aston DB11 by @Jeroen Ottens which works really well (although being an 8 speed + DNR gearbox). Slack is very minimal in these MOCs. -
42110 - Land Rover Defender
grego18f replied to 1gor's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It is an 8 teeth gear -
That is an offroader . And it should have enough power (gosh, 6L motors). Why did you keep the gearbox? Is it to demonstrate the effect on the fake engine revving?

A little off-topic (sorry @Jim) I do understand the frustration of not having a B model because we were used to having one. But B models usually have influences on the A model (not optimal pin use, different beam colors, ...). From my point of view, having a single model enables to focus more on it, adding more specific details and optimize part use, making it more appealing. And I do have confidence in these guys building wonderful B models out there Going back to 42100, the new platform seems to work pretty well. I especially like the interface on the app where you can move the sections of the boom. It makes the controls easier for kids.

Technic 2020 Set Discussion

Regarding the supercar, a Ferrari would be pretty cool, but the round curves can be very tricky to replicate depending on the inspiration model. As others mentioned, it could be an Aston Martin (the incoming Vantage?) or the successor of the Lamborghini Aventador. For the latter, I guess we will have information pretty soon. a functionality I would like to have is an active rear wing. Using a combination of a 2 speeds and a 4 speeds gearbox (to obtain a 8 speeds theoretically) could allow raising the wing when switching the higher gear on the 2 speeds gearbox (eg. raising on the 5th gear) The backhoe, if confirmed, sounds pretty interesting. I was too young (so had no money) when 8455 was realised. I have now another chance -
Control + Liebherr L580 WIP
grego18f replied to M_longer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I already like it You seem to manage the space very well! You will have a good counterweight What are the dimensions of the Hub? from the photos, I assume its width is 9L but what about the length. Keep it up, you really are a Modelteam master! -
I agree with you for the disaster . But placing a small turntable will not help because of the depth of the rims (the turntable is hitting the rubber). Same finding for the angle of the spring, sadly. There surely is a solution, consisting of putting the steering pivot less inside the wheel, but it would need more space to turn... if Lego had produced narrower tires (closer to reality)...

[MOC] The Ultimate Pickup
grego18f replied to Attika's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I was talking about the 9L link. But, considering its length and the play involved with the ball joint, I think the effect of being at high or low high is hardly visible on the steering range of motion. Sorry for having pointed out something useless... This is what I thought while thinking about the forklift and the old supercar tributes . Maybe you can use your panels to build a huge box, so your cats can be hidden inside -
Thank you @Sariel, you are the best! I have always loved your videos, especially when they involve your pets!

Hey @nicjasno, I take profit of what you said on the other thread (that any geometry is possible in Lego) Some time ago, I tried to add the McPherson Strut on the 42056 set. This is what I obtained: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=6479598 (Other pics here) It had quite good behavior when the wheels were straight. With the wheel turned, the springs bent when a load was applied on the front. As I have seen you have much more experience than me on complex mechanisms like that, do you think it is possible to create a reliable MacPherson setup with the deep rims?

[MOC] The Ultimate Pickup
grego18f replied to Attika's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very nice pickup @Attika . Having watched the video before reading the description, I didn't notice de 1° inward you were talking about. And this geometry will enable you to drive faster on the corners . I have two questions though. You have mentioned different height adjustments but does it have a negative effect on the steering? I mean, the steering link between the servo and the axle is more or less vertical, which could reduce the turning radius on one side. But I like your solution, simplifying the axle and giving the opportunity to have remote cockpit steering. The second question is about the tubular building. Is it a personal choice (a building style) you made deliberately or were you constrained by part availability? Otherwise, I have built your forklift, which I have modified for my needs and in order to be closer to a Fenwick H40. Very nice model and I discovered I prefer smaller MOCs (talking about scale) compared to bigger ones... -

Very nice progress, as always . Nice to see the Control+ stuff hidden inside. You may be the first one to use this technology in a MOC! -
Or do not expect anything at all . The poor thing is that I kind of feel that it resulted in dying slowly... That is too bad when I remember the activity it had 5 years ago. Back on topic. I think you are doing the right thing @Jim. This forum has to be a peaceful place, where people go to escape the cruel world. I do not post that often, but I come every day to discover new MOCs or progress. Everyone has his/her chance here, so a beginner builder will get suggestions or help to improve his/her skills.

42110 - Land Rover Defender
grego18f replied to 1gor's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It seems to me that "Defender" is written. A very interesting model though. Never have been disappointed by Milan. Hope he participates for the development of the 2020 UCS supercar set -
Very nice truck Han, and nice to see you again! The front and rear PTOs are a great addition. The only drawback (for me) I see is the range of motion of the container base. In real trucks (I have only seen US rolloff trucks with this system) it goes higher so that the end of the container base is nearly touching the ground. This way, the winchs don't have to lift the container which is guided by the base. But maybe I am wrong about this configuration. Anyway, great job!

Very impressive indeed. The shapes are here and the lines still flow fluidly. Very clean chassis as well. Good job

Technic Model Comparison
grego18f replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@Ngoc Nguyen Thank you for the shots, especially the 42098 vs. 42078 ones. To me, it is clear that the car transporter is on a higher scale because the muscle car is too big...
