  1. I agree. Gotta go OG - red wheels!
  2. I always keep vintage pieces separate, myself. Occasionally I might have to use an old trans-yellow windshield or CS logo brick on a MOC, but I keep most of my old bricks separate in case I need to replace pieces in old kits I buy. :) As far as your spacemen go, you can easily get the old, solid-stud smiley faces on Bricklink.com.
  3. I suppose there is probably a much greater chance of a military set appearing under the guise of UCS...
  4. Love it! Hope it reaches 10,000, because I'd buy it.
  5. Probably, but it just occurred to me that they at least have funny hats. That MAY be their saving grace. :) I do from time to time but I think I will more in the future! I do have a real need to pick up a Black Seas Barracuda at some point...
  6. I could swear I was at a fast restaurant and they had that iconic yellow moonscape on the menus or something... huh. While looking up that restaurant, I was surprised to see that locations still exist! Yum. :) Right, that's where I saw it! I'd love to see a breakdown or instructions for that. Pretty cool.
  7. I was thinking that could probably be the case as I wrote that, but there is something special about "official" sets... I used to work at Fort Henry in Kingston, Ontario while I was a student, and I've always wanted to recreate the good ol' east battery (three 24-pounders, a 12-pounder carronnade and a mortar) in Lego form. :)
  8. I like that backpack he made for the green guy there. I may have to make one of those...
  9. I think so. Hoo boy, getting excited for those green astronauts! Personally, I like to think of them as "rangers" - a designation that would include deep space recovery/salvage. :)
  10. Indeed. And perhaps a WWI Doughboy, or a German soldier (with spikey helmet!) MAY be charming/harmless enough to be released as a CMF. MAYBE. Perhaps a Red Baron figure might be more realistic. But while there are some pretty infamous atrocities associated with the Wild West, nothing from that time period was recorded like the First World War. The images from that conflict have impressed subsequent generations with much greater impact than anything before. World War II even more so (and Vietnam, at least for Americans, much more so). I think that's the real difference. Faefrost, thanks for providing the info on "Europa". What a grand theme that would have been! I would absolutely love to recreate a British square or thin red line...
  11. Thanks Gary! I can't say from personal experience, as I never owned the 1968 set, but it does seem to be a bit more common up here in Canada. Speaking of Canada, I have vague recollections of a Lego Space set being sold at a fast food chain up here... I want to say it was Dixie Lee, a fried chicken place (similar to KFC), but it might have been KFC or McDonalds. I was pretty young, hard to say if any of this is accurate, but I was wondering if anyone has any info on that? Oh, I don't know about that. The lines on the 1968 are quite unique and pleasing, imo anyway. I've never seen that 1526 set, but I think it's pretty cool too. A UAV launcher of some sort? Count me in... In fact, I might have enough spare bricks to build one myself... That pic you posted looks familiar... what is it?
  12. I like this a lot. To be quite honest, spaceships would probably look a lot more like submarines than jet fighters. :)
  13. Hey, just wondering - has anyone tried to build this little ship yet?
  14. Totally. "Different=bad" is definitely not the message I want to send to my kids. There doesn't have to be a "lesser of two evils," here. Why weren't there any alien police officers in Space Police III? Problem easily solved.
  15. Which I find odd; it kind of sends a wrong message, I would think...
  16. Yeah, it really seems like something Lego could do at a moment's notice, no matter how far the designers were in the process.
  17. Classic Space and Black Falcons for me, please. :)
  18. Wow, really nice start! Looks spot on so far.
  19. Reminds me a bit of when PETA tried to boycott Super Mario Bros because he wore "animal skin costumes" when he powered up, lol. A bit ridiculous if you ask me... but then again, I wouldn't be too disappointed if Lego amicably disassociated itself with Shell. To be quite honest I didn't know this "partnership" still existed, though I think the vintage Shell sets are pretty cool.
  20. I would think it's "nick"; otherwise, it would be spelled Technique, right? :)
  21. Learn something new every day... Even though I never had any sets, there's something about Fabuland I've always liked, even as a kid. I would love to pick up a bunch at a garage sale or something one day... While we're on the subject of that decade, any Classic Space mysteries? :)
  22. Artanis I, I would buy every one of those Futuron figures! I was a bit apprehensive about how purple might look, but it looks quite nice in your pic! I had a feeling a purple Classice Spaceman would remind me too much off Teletubbies or something, lol. Very true! I love these guys. I disagree - I've got a little squad of six guarding my 6971 Intergalactic Command Base, so I think they fit in quite well. But I do agree with you that I'd like a plain dark blue Spaceman as well. I do agree with this! Actually, Kenner vintage SW figures are the only SW items I collect... otherwise, I get burned out quickly (SW Lego included!).
  23. You know, to be quite honest I wouldn't even care if the colour schemes were different. For some reason, people seem to forget that for the majority of its existence, Classic Space was by no means relegated to simply blue and light grey with trans-yellow cockpits and windows. I'd be happy if they simply brought back the Classic Space logo, to be quite honest. If Galaxy Squad - or, especially, Space Police III - had included that small detail, I would have bought all sets, rather than none. Funny thing, I know, because I could simply add those pieces if I really wanted to, given the nature of Lego. But there's something about it being "official"...
  24. I agree. As much as I'd prefer the classic thin chinstrap, Benny's broken one would be worse! I hate to sound greedy after just finding out that we're getting a CS in a new colour, but I have to say, I would love to see another in a future CMF series... Pink, not so much (we kind of already got one). Dark blue or grey would be sweet, though.
