  1. ^ as a Canadian, I would buy a LEGO Snowbird, no matter the cost!
  2. They both look fine to me, to be quite honest, but I would rather they stuck to the old grey, if only so that stuff like Benny's SSS or the Exo-Suit matched a bit better.
  3. Lol, original Benny. :) That's awesome. Shouldn't be too difficult to find a replacement for that part.
  4. I don't. Galaxy Squad never appealed to me for some reason. Even better, new ones with different craters! But even if that did happen, they'd be in the new grey, so... :( maybe a third party could tackle this in a matching light grey. I'm not one for mixing brick types but in this case I would, just to vary the scenery a bit.
  5. Lol, this is great. Well done!
  6. Oh yeah, big demand.. But I guess it's like any vintage toy collecting - the new stuff is what gets talked about online for the most part, but the classic old stuff sells consistently on eBay, toy shows, and the like. :)
  7. I got a few sets through kijiji.ca (like craigslist, bit Canadian), and also traded some GI Joe stuff for some on Hisstank.com (I'm a big GI Joe collector too). There are definitely a lot of people collecting vintage Lego but I've never found an online community, really. Certainly some of us here do, but the forum is overwhelmingly just Lego fans in general, more of the type that create MOCs and stuff. There might be some FB groups, though...
  8. I kind of regret not getting that three-legged walker thing, or maybe a few. :) Here's an idea for a "crossover theme" - City Spaceport, but with Classic Space-style ships and astronauts. Come on, Lego, make it happen!
  9. Argh, how I wish you would bequeath that find to me. :) I LOVE Classic Space, and like you, I've only recently re-discovered it through a combination of local finds, Bricklink, and getting a hold of my own childhood collection. First off, try giving this thread a thorough read: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=74458&hl=restoration We've discussed some of the things you're looking through there - and maybe we can get that thread moving a little bit again, too! :) Offhand, I know that the earlier sets you're talking about - stuff like the Beta-1, late '70s/early '80s sets - had a lot, if not all, of the pieces with the molding pip on the side, rather than the stud... but we can tell that the molding pip on the stud was in production during that time, since most of the "LL" bricks I've seen (which all date to the earliest CS sets), have the pip on the stud. That's probably the biggest difference you'll have to deal with when rebuilding vintage sets from that period... Some of my later childhood sets date to '86 or so, and the pips on the studs were becoming more common. One thing I haven't quite figured out are the 1x2 and 2x2 tiles... I would GUESS that the earlier ones just have the single mold number on them (on the bottom), but I wonder if someone knew this for sure... That's a start, anyway. I'm a bit tired so I'll leave it at that, but hopefully some of the other collectors (to be honest, there doesn't seem to be that many Lego fans with the "collector" mentality other toy lines have, at least not here...) will chime in as well. Good luck! (And welcome!) Dylan
  10. Alien Conquest was cool. I never got any, but was tempted - honestly, if I had a City collection I would have been more likely to get it. It's almost more of a City theme... ;)
  11. ^ Very nice. RIP.
  12. This is great! I will definitely be using this, thanks!
  13. That is sweet! Semi-off topic, but is there a reason I never see a middle car for space monorail sets/MOCs? Does it just not work with the electronics or something?
  14. Gosh, I would LOVE that set... ESPECIALLY for the base! I'd definitely buy more than one. Supported!!!
  15. Yeah, I might grab a couple more... I may want extra green Spacemen down the road. Hmm... Still limited to one per customer. Oh well, I needed a couple of the new movie sets anyway. Double-Decker Couch and Batman/Angry Kitty brought it up to just over $75 for the free shipping. :)
  16. Wow, that's terrific! It looks like it should be an official set.
  17. Just stop. Enough of this nonsense - it's a terrific build, and nothing you're saying takes away from that. I doubt anyone is impressed by your knowledge of made-up rules, so let's please move on.
  18. Sweet build - would look right at home with official sets!
  19. Well, for the matter we should probably include some of the sci-fi minifigs in the various Collectible Minifig Series, then - lots of shout-outs to Classic Space and Blacktron in that. I have the Space Marines guarding my 6971 base and a, bunch of the recent Space Miners mixed in with some sets too. Hey, if it's got a moon with something flying around it, it's Classic Space to me! You know, it really does seem as if they're building up to SOMETHING... I heard something about Benny's Space Base being some kind of set in the future, I think - was that just speculation/wishful thinking?
  20. And my point stands: who cares? Who are they to make up "rules" that ignore colour schemes that were actually a part of official, LEGO-designed releases? When the site states "Trans yellow: All vehicle windscreens and any windows should be transparent yellow. The range of parts in this colour is quite restrictive, so it's tempting to try other colours. You must resist this temptation," it's pretty obvious they're not to be taken seriously as any kind of "authority" on the matter. It's obvious that's just what they happen to prefer. What about the trans-blue in the Galaxy Commander, or All-Terrain Vehicle, or any number of Classic Space sets with trans-green parts? Sorry to keep derailing this thread, but I really, really like this build and feel the need to defend it against what seems to be some kind of misguided colour scheme elitism. :)
  21. These are really great. They look samurai "just enought" while still appropriately futuristic and believable. Nice job!
  22. Hopefully! They reissued all the Classic Space figs in those four-packs, too... Not all that recent, I guess, but worth mentioning. Plus I still need them. :)
  23. Even *actual* Classic Space didn't follow these "rules", so whatever. And nothing against that site (there's some great stuff on it), but it is in no way official. And the last post was from 2011, so... Yeah. Besides, rules were made to be broken, and this build did it well.
  24. I'd be down for that. Don't really want to get my hopes up, though. :)
  25. ^ You're kidding, right? Who the heck cares what that website says?
