Definitely need to buy a PaB cup for the sea pieces. I shutter to think about anyone buying them individually... I really like the marina, its coming along great. Excellent work!

Excellent work Richard! I always look forward to your updates. The Coast Guard HQ is so appropriate now that we have the Coast Guard sets released this year. Any chance you will share (or sell) the design eventually?

Really cool! I liked your balcony and the kitchen design. Always good to design something you are passionate about.

Very cool designs guys. Actually Lazarus I really liked how you integrated the surroundings into the design. Much better than mine

Cool LegoSjaak! You should take some more pictures of the other sides. Thanks JopieK!

Thanks Eurotrash! I appreciate the vote of confidence. I'm debating what will go on the second floor. I'm thinking, though it may be weird, to have the registers on the second floor rather than the main as I wanted the main floor to be a showcase floor. That in mind, I also have to design some other goods for the front windows on the main floor. I haven't even though of what will go on the third floor haha.

Thanks Lightning Tiger! Thank you Joe! You're welcome. I was thinking red and white so its similar to 7937 Train station from 2010. Or perhaps a dark blue with yellow columns? That is the only limitation I find with Lego designing at the moment. Not being able to have all the specific parts in the same colour palette.

As I have been focusing primarily on finding work, I haven't given myself a whole lot of time to focus on my design. However I did some work on it recently and I think it is starting to take shape nicely. It is different I find to create things digitally when it comes to interiors. Building digitally allows me to build the exterior with little care for gravity. I, then of course realise I still have to balance everything from the ground up which means taking it apart a bit and rethinking how to structure it. In any case its nice to work on this. At the moment though its sitting at more than 2,000 pieces and no where near completion. I think it will look fantastic if I can build it in real life.

It's been a little while since I've posted anything or done some updates so I thought I would put a little something out there. I was bored one afternoon and revamped the older train station set 7997. I don't actually own the set but thought if I did what would I do to enhance it? I was never partial to the yellow colour scheme maybe I will change it later.

I liked the way you did the glass section of the main gas station front coupled with the pipe leading the edge. I really liked that technique.

Great work Kristel. I really like how the benches in the initial cafe are set into the wall.

No problem Jargo. I actually find such things like this fascinating.

Lego 2013 Holiday Sets 1/2 2/2 (HR Images)
Wodanis replied to GRogall's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'm really excited for these sets. Not so excited that I have to spend possibly $200 to get them but alas I have not bought into the winter theme yet and I am missing out. I really liked the winter sets.- 80 replies

I really like your idea. Any chance you would share the design?

Very impressive and simple design. You will have to take more photos so we can analyse and drool over the details.

Quite possible then to prevent rampant costs. Would be interesting to ask TLG what they do. I would love to go on their exclusive tours to find out everything

I can't say I approve, I would happily scrap the duties. Megabloks is a crappy product. I would hardly support it because it is a Canadian company. Its not like NAFTA works anymore so I don't think they would get into legal troubles.

I would agree. There wasn't anything special in her presentations, just use of licensed ideas from movies. I don't get the hype either other than her notoriety on youtube.

As far as I know there was only a precedent for removing a mould in order to allow for a new one. I don't think they do that with colours. However I think with the recent amount of profits reported last year by TLG, they can afford to make a new colour. Actually I like the fact that Lego reuses their existing selection of parts. It makes things much more interesting and falls in line with the Lego system as a whole. You just know they will use the new colour for a variety of sets.

Should TLC stop photoshopping their pictures?
Wodanis replied to merman's topic in General LEGO Discussion
They actually changed the colour of the helmet to make it more realistic. I liked the newer version rather than the chrome one. I agree with TheLegoDr here. The official images allow us to view the product properly unlike most other images you see released on the internet where the person lacks basic photography skills or poor lighting. Besides would you expect anything less from a professional? I do not think there is a problem using photoshop on images. They aren't altering it beyond reality like in a fashion magazine. -
We are displeased by TLC's customer service
Wodanis replied to Kumpelkante's topic in General LEGO Discussion
VIP points as I found out are attributed after your purchase has shipped from Lego S@H. This is a very odd situation and bad luck. Lego Customer Service has been exceptional in my experience. Much better than other companies. I do know screw ups can happen. In this case it sounds like there was a disconnection between customer service and the factory for getting your order out on time. -
I've been debating about this topic for awhile. But how does that work with Canada? There is a Lego factory in Mexico and we aren't necessarily importing from Europe. To give a recent example: Set 60012 4x4 & Diving boat is $24.99 CDN, 19.99 US and 9.99 in the UK. Personally I find it extremely frustrating that this set like most in Canada are costing an extra $5. Especially when these sets in Canada used to cost 15-18 dollars. It gets worse with the larger sets such as the Pet shop 10218: 199.99 CDN, 149.99 US and 119 in the UK. That is a $50 mark up for a product that would take a few days to come across the border from the US if it was just about gas, tax and shipping costs.Note that the UK price has 20% vat included in the price compared to 13% tax after the price in Canada. I used to work for a major US retail chain and they loved to describe Canada as 'a secondary market'. Meaning goods for us were an after thought compared to America. So who is to blame? How can Lego be made affordable? Canada for prescribing an 18% duty on goods coming into country, Lego for putting a higher price point because it's Canada? Or the networks of suppliers and retailers in Canada gouging Canadians?

It should be noted that if a person does get their project produced you get 1% of all sales...

60053 Race Car - meh 60054 Light Repair Truck - Interesting but want to see the result 60055 Monster Truck - Not into Monster trucks but will go with 60027 60056 Tow Truck - Hmm I'm wonder about this too 60057 Camper Van - Wonder what will be different? 60058 SUV with Watercraft - Interesting and a nice touch to City vehicles 60059 Logging Truck - Cool to go with Cargo plane 60021 60060 Auto Transporter - Will definitely want this 60061 Airport Fire Truck - Excited about this! It would be nice if the price point for road base plates was reduced. For a pack of two its $19.99 CDN which is a lot. $12 is more appropriate. It would be nice as well if they developed a new line of city sets to incorporate the idea from the 80s. Homes for mini-figures similar to the creator line of homes we have seen that allow for builders to expand on their neighbourhoods. I do like the police sets but I'm thinking they must sell extremely well which is why we see so many of them. I think what most of us City fans would like to see is variety. Both in homes, roads, vehicles and whatnot.
