  1. Likewise I like learning more about the business and production side. If celebrities can create a nonsensical word like twerk. I think we can use a word such as amortizable.
  2. So I have finally ordered the remaining parts for the CC and GG! My BnP will be coming in 2-3 weeks. Only four parts seem to have been back-ordered. Hopefully that won't delay things too much. The oddest thing though occurred as I wanted a few more City mini-figures. The Elite police torso and the Forest Fireman torso from 2012 were listed as 'licensed parts' and not able for order. I don't know if something has changed or if there is a glitch with their system. I'm waiting to hear back from CS about that.
  3. I knew about the raw plastic issue but I had not heard before that they move the molds around. I'm curious where did you learn of this Faefrost? Was it in the forums? Not that I doubt what you say.
  4. Your correct to say AndyC "that "ordering from the factory in Denmark" is absolutely no guarantee that the order is fulfilled using only parts produced in Denmark." If I could find out specifically where the machine is based for the appropriate serial number on the leg that would prove the point of origin. The reasoning is Lego does not have a factory in China (until 2017) and they use a third party substitute who is contracted on behalf of Lego to produce parts and various product lines. They were using them because they could not keep pace with the demand. The CMF line and 8% of parts from other lines like Chima and Friends are produced there. Some quality issues and differences are explained in this other thread: LEGO parts made of Chinese plastic? I started this one to see if anyone would know whether CS would actually have knowledge of point of origin and or be able to replace the lesser quality parts. I have never seen any quality issues from any of their other plants except for the usual wear and tear from play or age. I've purchased many sets In North America and in the UK.
  5. That's the funny thing with me, I've kept all my mini figures built while in storage...not sure if that is good or bad? Haha once built they have little brick souls. Would be awful to break them up.
  6. I am proud to say I own some of the original forest men sets. I started getting out of lego (girls) by 1992 so I didn't collect the dark forest men. They were cool but the originals we're a lot of fun. Used to act out a Robin Hood storyline with them. Would be amazing eh? :)
  7. Bricks and pieces is the catalogue to order missing parts from sets. However you can also order parts that you want. The prices are usually higher for certain parts but it is worthwhile depending on what you need.
  8. The identification markings indicate origin, hence my original question. The parts that are made directly from Denmark possess the © lego logo on their arms and the base of the foot. I've confirmed this through the sets I've purchased and the mini-figures i have directly ordered from the factory in Denmark. Not to mention the quality when you touch and see them. True but my issue is with the quality of the parts which should be a reason. If I have to I will just order the parts.
  9. PAB is shipped from the Poland distribution centre and BnP is shipped directly from Denmark. Because I live in Canada you don't pay VAT when doing BnP. So no taxes! PAB on the other hand you are 'buying' it in your country of origin so there are taxes... As for the website I noticed that as well. I have been waiting for their BnP catalogue to come back up. Originally it was Dec 24th and then Jan 15th to start again. I just hope there won't be any more delays. The rep did tell me it should be up tomorrow.
  10. If the quality was improved upon then I would be ok with it. I don't want to wait till 2017 for their new factory to come online to find out. I'm thinking they will be putting made in china on the boxes at any rate, even if it may not have parts made from there. As part of the organisation. I know right? I've been collecting the CMFs since series 3 and you are right , you can see the difference. That is what bugs me the most is the off shade of yellow. I bought Gail the construction worker last week from the Lego movie figs and she suffers from that, a hat that doesn't fit snug on her head and loose legs. Exactly! Why does TLG keeps insisting on their quality from the area?
  11. Totally agree with you there. I went through my store bought Mini-figures and found out which was which. Honestly I feel duped into buying a lesser quality product than what the brand would have me believe. There isn't anything as a consumer we can do about CMF figures as they are all Made in China. However the mixing of mini-figure parts is another matter. I do find the same issues with the hands and hip joints. The legs to look at them lack the same sheen and there is a noticeable difference. They just don't feel as solid. In the future I will be scrutinising parts before I purchase any more mini-figures so as to not end up paying for a lesser quality part.
  12. Aw say it is not so! Maybe I should have ordered extra last year...I know I literally got the last of the sand green with groove bricks.
  13. It is underneath the patio seating out front. Cafe Corner has one too that spells out Cafe. I only just saw this the other day
  14. Someone needs more space That would work! I would be tempted to take out the Market portion of Market Street and just use the building.
  15. I second that sentiment.
  16. Thanks TheLegoDr. Really that must have been quite cool to meet him. ToysNBricks were having a 80's movie vignette contest last year and that was my entry. Lokk forward to seeing them! I paid the same for mine. However it was only after ordering them I found out I could have purchased them (last summer) from Bricks and Pieces for .26 cents each...
  17. I just made a design on LDD of a cafe corner interior. I posted them on my blog and Flickr. Check them out. I figure I will have to do a separate order when I can assess the cost first. I'll look forward to seeing how it turns out! Someone else I saw did an L shape cafe corner turned out to be quite cool. Can't go wrong with more dark blue arches. Yea the market in market street was quite bare. I'm thinking of making into a full on food market. Similar to a flea market to describe it.
  18. That's awesome Swissbrick. So envious right now.
  19. Thanks Sin! That's just the thing, I am about 99% authentic with my parts. I insisted upon myself to keep as many pieces as original as possible. Minus of course the changes I mentioned with Green Grocer. As for Cafe Corner the only thing I may change is the far grey door. I got a horribly scratched one used. The seller stated minor surface scratches...so far removed from the truth as one could get. So I may swap it or leave it out. Don't feel like paying $30 for one right now.
  20. My issue with the parts is that they are not of the same quality as pieces made in Denmark. I suspect I will have to contact CS and see if it needs to go higher. Understandably the initial CS reps will not know such details in any case.
  21. Why not change the design and use a technic plate that has holes on the ceiling, then put a smaller axle through it? That way the direction is maintained. The family house set from last year did something similar. Maybe looking at the instructions will help? http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=31012-1
  22. The Grand Emporium was the first modular I bought. It was too good to pass up and I was hooked onto them, buying the Petshop, Fire Brigade, Town Hall in the span of 6 months. I recommend all of them if you can get them. They are just such nice sets to have and a lot of fun to build. Parisian Restaurant will be my next purchase. I meant to get the Cinema last year but got sidetracked by all the other sets I was buying. Just when I think I get caught up they release more...just wish I had the means to buy multiples.
  23. Yes I was. I agree with that sentiment. I built Market Street on LDD and want to mod it. It does look terribly amateurish. On the back side for example why not put in windows instead of the tan bricks? Seems silly to design it like that. I had my spreadsheets narrowing down the costs but I did not factor in shipping costs. The total cost for the project was estimated around $810 for both sets of GG and CC. I managed to do it for $600! With a combination of PAB, BL and BnP orders. All those extras pieces from sets came in handy. Haha.
  24. I would agree Jodawill except that most of the new castle sets don't seem to me about piece count so much as just lacking in concept. The forest men were a novel idea and I really loved those sets. I also loved the black falcons. Remarkably not all of these sets made it to the North American market. Maybe they could do castle modular sets? Including the forest men :)
  25. That is correct jodawill. Hmm. I was hoping id be able to confirm if some of the parts were indeed made in China. More specifically if they could confirm it I would ask for replacements. I have about 20 or so Mini-figure legs and 5 torsos that look to be made from the Chinese 3rd party manufacturer. They never did feel right nor fit properly. Turns out the two packs of city mini-figures also appear to be made there as well in terms of the bodies and legs. The don't have the © Lego on the base of the foot just a batch number on the hip joint. The torsos lack the black sensor indicator on their necks as well. http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=850617-1 http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=850618-1 - only the fire chief's torso and legs the rest made in Denmark. http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=853378-1 - air tanks are discoloured
